3、ments of the Army, Navy and Air Force have collaborated in the preparation of this Guide Specification. Its contents and arrangements conform generally to the “CSI Masterformat - Master List of Section Titles and Numbers (MP-2-1),“ 10 Mar 1983 of the Construction Specifications Institute. In accorda

4、nce with the CSI Masterformat, identify each Section by a number and a letter (see Index of Divisions and Sections). The number will be that of the Division under which the Section is located. number will begin with “A“ and continue alphabetically, as necessary- The letters following the USE AND INS

5、TRUCTION: preparation of project specifications for Military Family Eousing in ac- cordance with current directives and instructions. It shall not be made a part of another specification by reference. Engineer shall assure that complete coverage of the work involved is specified, and shall further a

6、ssure that Co-ordination with the drawings is accomplished. This Guide Specification shall be used in the Each project Architect- SELECTION OF MATERIALS: It is intended that architects and engineers for military family housing projects be permitted to select from this Guide Specification the materia

7、ls and equipment which, in their professional judg- ment, are suitable for specific projects-. Contractor options included in this Guide Specification shall not be deleted unless economic and engineering evaluations indicate that the options are not justified for a specific project. Newly developed

8、materials and methods not included in this Guide Specifica- tion may be used in limited application with prior clearance of the Military Departments involved. (Each Hilitary Department shall ensure that prohibi- ted materials are not included in project epecifications.) or methods may not be used ex

9、tensively until the quality and durability have been proven and appropriate specifications have been included in this Guide Specification. Such new materials In selecting the quality standards for materials and equipment, consideration should be given to the impact that certain materials may have on

10、 the construc- tion and maintenance cost of the over-all project. NOTES ON THE USE OF THIS SPECIFICATION SUGGESTIONS AN

12、D RECOMMEN- DATIONS: This Guide Specifica- tion includes providing Hot Water Heating boiler systems using gas as the fuel for individual boilers in each building or dwelling unit. The heating source to be used, oil, gas, or electricity, shall be deter- mined by the Architect-Engineers utility servic

13、e study developed in accordance with e s ta bli shed Mili- tary Department requirements. Division 15, section for HEATING, BUTION must be included in the project specifications in order to provide a complete heating system. Air for Combustion: Boilers shall be installed in locations in which facilit

14、ies for ventilation permit satisfactory combustion of fuel and proper venting under normal conditions of use. Provision for combustion air supply to boiler space shall Le in accordance with NFPA No. 54. HOT WATER, INTERIOR DISTRI- Items to be Deleted: Items noted thus shall be deleted when not appli

15、cable to system as de signed. Referenced Specifications: In the project specifica- tion, list the specifications and gtandards by their current titles, numbers and lette r s. Induced-Draft Fans: Use where chimney or vent heights are inadequate for proper combustion, otherwise delete this paragraph.

16、Prefabricated Chimneys: Boilers shall be vented into masonry or factory-built chim- neys engineered and constructed so as to develop a positive flow ade- quate to remove all flue gases to the outside atmosphere. 26、RDS: Materials and equipment shall be new and bear the UL (23) label or be listed in UL Gas and Oil Equipment Directory, wherever standards have been established by that agency. In lieu of such certification, label, or listing, a written certificate from a nationally recognized testing agency adequa

27、tely equipped and competent to perform such services may be submitted stating that the items have been tested and that the units conform to require- ments specified herein, including methods of testing of the specified agencies. (B) STANDARD PRODUCTS: Materials and equipment furnished under this spe

28、cification shall be standard cataloged products of manufacturers regularly engaged in production of such materials or equipment and shall be manufacturers latest standard design that complies with the specificat$on requirements. Where two or more units of the same class of equipment are required, th

29、ese units shall be products of a single manufacturer; however, the component parts of the system need not be the products of the same manufacturer. Each major component of equipment shall have manufacturers name, address, model and serial number on a nameplate securely affixed in a conspicuous place

30、; nameplate of a distributing agent only will not be acceptable. Belts, pulleys, chains, gears, couplings, projecting setscrews, keys, and other rotating parts located so that a person can come in close proximity thereto, shall be fully enclosed or properly guarded. (C) DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Defectiv

31、e equipment or equipment damaged in the course of installation or testing shall be replaced or repaired by Contractor in a manner approved by the authorized Government representative. 37、n. Schedule shall include model and serial numbers, cuts, diagrams, drawings, pump and fan curves and such other descriptive data as may be re- quired. Approval of equipnent under this provision shall not be construed as authorizing any deviations from the specifications unless attention has been di
