SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers one type of aramid n

15、ENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Standard. Where applicable, the dyed tape shall match the standard for shade and shall, unless otherwise indicated, be equal to or better than the standard with respe

16、ct to all characteristics for which the standard is referenced (see 6.1). 3.3 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the oper

17、ational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.4 Material. 3.4.1 Yarn. The yarn for the warp and filling shall be made from an approved bright, multi-filament, aramid polyamide (see 6.3), nominal denier of 200 (22 tex) warp and 2-ply, 200 (22 tex) fi

18、lling. The yarn shall not char at a temperature less than 675F. The final ply of the filling yarn shall have a minimum of 2 turns per inch. Testing shall be as specified in 4.4.5. 3.4.2 Yarn (alternate construction). The yarn for the warp and filling shall be made from an approved aramid polymide sp

19、un into 40/2 (nominal) cotton count. The yarn shall not char at a temperature less than 676F. Testing shall be as specified in 4.4.5. 3.5 Color. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the color of the tape shall be as specified in the procurement document. The color shall be obtained by the use of me

20、lt spun solution dyed fiber. 3.5.1 Visual shade matching. When evaluated in accordance with 4.6, the color of the finished tape shall match the standard with sources simulating artificial daylight and shall be a good match to the standard under incandescent lamplight. 3.5.2 Colorfastness. The dyed a

21、nd finished tape shall show fastness to light and laundering equal to or better than the standard. When no standard has been established or designated as applicable to colorfastness, the dyed and finished tape shall show “fair“ fastness to light and “good“ fastness to laundering when tested as speci

22、fied in 4.4.5. 3.6 Physical requirements. The finished tape shall conform to the requirements specified in TABLE I when tested as specified in 4.4.5. The filling yarn shall traverse the full width of the tape with one filling yarn per shed. 3.7 Nonfibrous material. The finished tape shall contain no

25、more than 2.0 percent starch and protein including chloroform-soluble and water-soluble material when tested as specified in 4.4.5. 3.8 pH. The pH value of the water extract of the finished tape shall be no less than 5.5 or more than 9.0 when tested as specified in 4.4.5. 3.9 Length and put-up. Unle

26、ss otherwise specified (see 6.2), the tape shall be furnished on double headed spools or tubes containing 500 10 yards. No spool or tube shall contain more than five pieces, and no piece shall be less than 5 yards long. 3.10 Identification tickets. Each spool or tube shall have a ticket attached wit

27、h not finer than 5-ply cotton string doubled to not less than 6 inches long. The tickets shall be made of paperboard not less than 0.015 inch in thickness and the color shall be manila or light in intensity to permit easy reading of printed, stamped or typed markings. The use of handwritten entries

28、is prohibited. The ticket shall have clipped corners at the end where a reinforcing patch (with or without a metal eyelet) is firmly affixed for attaching the tying string. The ticket shall be legibly printed with water insoluble ink with the following information: Stock number Nomenclature Specific

29、ation number Yardage Contract number and date of manufacture (month and year) Contractors name Name of contracting agency. When tape is not procured directly by the Government, the above information shall appear on the container, in which case the roll tickets are not required. Page 4 of 11 Copyrigh

When directed in the procurement document or purchase order, each spool or tube of tape shall be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.

31、12 Workmanship. The tape shall be clean, evenly woven, and shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels specified herein. 3.13 Date of manufacturer (see 6.2). When required by

32、the procurement document, the textile manufacturer shall properly identify the age of the textile materials by placing a tag on the finished goods, or label on the containers, identifying the specification to which the material is manufactured, the lot number and the date of manufacture. The date of

33、 manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects the physical characteristics of the material. 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification for inspection. The inspection of the tape shall be classified as follows: a. First article inspection b. Conformance i

34、nspection. 4.2 First article inspection. The first article submitted in accordance with 3.1 shall be inspected as specified in 4.3 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship and dimensional requirements. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed as specified i

35、n this document unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). 4.4 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise spec

36、ified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the sp

37、ecification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.4.1 Certificates of Compliance. When Certificates of Compliance are submitted, the procuring activity reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of th

38、e certification. 4.4.2 Component testing. The component listed in TABLE II shall be tested for the characteristics specified in accordance with the referenced test methods, except where otherwise specified. The sample shall be one cone, tube or spool each. Acceptance sampling plan shall be determine

41、4.4.3 End item examination. 4.4.3.1 Yard-by-yard examination. The tape shall be examined on both sides for the defects listed in TABLE III. The defects found shall be counted, regardless of their proximity to each other, except when two or more defects represent a single local condition of the tape,

42、 in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warpwise yard, or fraction thereof, in which it occurs. The unit of product for this examination shall be 1 linear yard. Acceptance sampling shall be determined by using ANSI/ASQ

43、 Z1.4, Inspection Level II with an Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) of 0.40 major defects and 1.5 for total defects (major and minor combined). The lot size shall be expressed in units of 1 linear yard each. An approximate equal number of yards shall be examined from each spool or tube selected. TABLE

47、ed shall be counted not more than once in each spool or tube examined. The sample size shall be the applicable number of spools or tubes indicated in TABLE IV. Each spool or tube in the sample shall be examined over its entire length. The lot shall be rejected if the total number of defects in the s

48、ample exceeds the applicable acceptance number specified in TABLE IV.
