TAPE, TEXTILE, NYLON, PARACHUTE CONSTRUCTION The Parachute Industry Association makes this document available for use by Industry and Government organizations that wish to apply this specification to their products. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers three ty

3、pes of nylon tape. 1.2 Classification. The tapes shall be of the types indicated in TABLE I as specified (see 6.2). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in Sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in othe

4、r sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. Where applicable, the dyed tape shall match the standard for shade and appearance and shall, unless otherwise indicated, be equal to or better than the standard with respect to all characteristics for which the standard is referenced (see 6.1). 3.2 F

16、irst article. When specified in the contract, or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.2). 3. 3 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent pos

17、sible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.4 Materials. 3.4.1 Yarns. The nylon yarn used in the manufacture of the tape shall be a polyamide prepared from hexamethylene diamine and adipic

18、 acid or its derivatives. It shall have a minimum melt point of 244C (471F). 3.4.2 Warp yarn. The warp yarn used for all types shall be 210-denier, high tenacity, bright filament nylon prior to dyeing. 3.4.3 Filling yarn. 3.4.3.1 Type I - Shuttle loom construction. The yarn shall be spun nylon of 20

19、/4 or 10/2 yarn number 5 percent (cotton system), spun polyester of 12/2 yarn number 5 percent (cotton system), or 1000 denier bulked nylon. The filling yarn breaking strength shall be a minimum of 4.75 pounds when tested as specified in 4.3.1.1. 3.4.3.2 Type I - Shuttleless loom construction. The y

20、arn shall be spun nylon of 20/2 or 10/1 yarn number 5 percent (cotton system), spun polyester of 12/1 yarn number 5 percent (cotton system), or 500 denier bulked nylon. The filling yarn breaking strength shall be a minimum of 2.5 pounds when tested as specified in 4.3.1.1. 3.4.3.3 Type II. The yarn

21、shall be spun nylon or polyester of 60/2 or 30/1 yarn number 5 percent (cotton system). The filling yarn breaking strength shall be a minimum of 0.90 pounds when tested as specified in 4.3.1.1. 3.4.3.4 Type III. The yarn shall be nylon filament 840/140 denier. The filling yarn breaking strength shal

22、l be a minimum of 4.75 pounds when tested as specified in 4.3.1.1. 3.4.4 Type I - Shuttleless loom construction. The catch-cord shall be 2 ply 70 denier or 150 denier spun dyed or color sealed black polyester yarn. The color and colorfastness of the catch-cord shall be as specified in 3.7.1.1. The f

23、illing yarn of the shuttleless woven tapes traverse the full width of the tape and shall be held at the edge by the catch-cord end interlaced with the filling yarn in accordance with the method shown in FIGURE 1. 3.4.5 Ply twist. The warp and final ply of the filling yarn for Type I tape shall have

24、a minimum twist of 2-1/2 turns per inch, and the filling yarn for Type II tape shall have a minimum twist of 15 turns per inch in the 60/1 single yarn. Page 3 of 13 Copyright Protected: Do Not Copy!PIA-T-6134C 3.5 Weave. 3.5.1 Types I and III. Types I and III are woven in a tubular construction usin

25、g a plain weave. The warp ends may weave 2 ends as 1, or 1 end as 1. 3.5.2 Type II. Type II is woven two-up, two-down herringbone twill, with one reversal of the weave in the middle of the tape. The tape shall have a woven selvage. 3.6 Construction and physical properties. The tape shall conform to

26、the construction and physical properties of TABLE I when tested as specified in 4.4.4. 3.7 Color. Unless otherwise specified by the processing activity, the color of the tapes shall be natural except for the identification yarn for Type I. If color is specified, specific colorfastness and appropriat

27、e test methods shall be specified by the procuring activity (see 6.2). 3.7.1 Identification yarn for Type I. One black identification yarn shall be interwoven down the center of one side of the tape. A black yarn shall be used as the catch-cord for the Type I shuttleless construction as specified in

28、 3.4.4. 3.7.1.1 Colorfastness of identification and catch-cord yarn for Type I. The identification yarn shall have colorfastness to crocking as follows: Note: 1/Rated using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure 8, AATCC9-Step Chromatic Transference Scale. 3.8 Physical Requirements. 32、d (see 6.2), tape shall be furnished on rolls containing 100 to 144 yards. No roll shall contain more than two pieces, and no piece shall be less than 40 yards in length. 3.10 Identification label. Each roll of tape shall show the length of tape contained on the roll. 3.11 Fiber identification. When

33、 directed in the procurement document or purchase order, each roll of tape shall be labeled, or ticketed, for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 3.12 Workmanship. The finished tape shall conform to the quality of product es

34、tablished by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. 3.13 Date of manufacture (see 6.2). When required by the procurement document, the textile manufacturer shall properly identify the age of the textile materials by placing a tag on t

35、he finished goods or label on the containers identifying the specification to which the material is manufactured, the lot number and the date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects the physical characteristics of

36、 the material. 3.14 pH. The pH value of the water extract of the finished tape shall be not less than 5.5 or more than 9.0 when tested as specified in 4.4.4. 4. 37、ied herein are classified as follows: 1. First article inspection (see 4.2) 2. Conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 First article inspection. The first article submitted in accordance with 3.2 shall be inspected as specified in 4.3 through 4.6 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship a

38、nd dimensional requirements. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspection shall include the examination of 4.3.1 and the tests of 4.3.1.1 through 4.4.4 as applicable. Sampling for inspection shall be performed as specified in this document, unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (

39、see 6.2). 4.3.1 Inspecting conditions. In accordance with 4.1 above, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this specification or applicable procurement documents. 4.3.1.

40、1 Component testing. In addition to the quality assurance provisions of the subsidiary specifications, component materials listed in TABLE II shall be tested for the specified characteristics in accordance with the referenced test methods. The lot size shall be expressed in pounds, and the sample un

41、it shall be 500 yards of yarn. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more units fail to meet any requirement specified. All test reports shall contain the individual values utilized in expressing the final result. The sample size shall be as follows: Lot size (pounds) Sample size 800 or less 2 801

46、4.1 Yard-by-yard examination. The required yardage of each roll shall be inspected on both sides for defects listed in TABLE IV. All defects found shall be counted, regardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition of tape, in which case

47、 only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warp-wise yard or fraction thereof in which it occurs. The lot size shall be expressed in yards. The sample unit shall be in 1 linear yard. The inspection level sampling and procedures shall b

48、e in accordance with ANSI/ASQ Z1.4. The inspection level shall be III and the Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL), expressed in defects per hundred units, shall be 0.25 for major defects and 1.0 for total defects. The number of rolls from which the sample yardage is to be selected shall be in accordance
