2、stry to reflect technology and design evolution. _ WEBBING, TEXTILE, WOVEN NYLON, FOR DECELERATORS The Parachute Industry Association makes this document available for use by Industry and Government organizations that wish to apply this specification to their products. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This speci

3、fication covers six types of Class I nylon webbing (shuttleloom weaving only). 1.2 Classification. The nylon webbing shall be of the types specified in 6.1. The types shall conform to the requirements of TABLE I as applicable for the type specified. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents

4、 listed in this section are specified in Sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. When specified (see 6.1), a sample representative of the production quality shall be submitted for first article inspection in accordance with 4.2. 3.2 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environment

16、ally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3 Materials. 3.3.1 Nylon yarn. The nylon yarn shall be a bright, high tenacity

17、, light and heat resistant nylon 6,6 and shall have a melting point of 471 F Minimum (244 C). The yarn shall not be bleached. Testing shall be as specified in 4.4.1. 3.3.1.1 Denier. The yarn used in the manufacturing of the webbing shall be of the denier and filament specified in TABLE I. 3.3.1.2 Tw

18、ist. The final ply of the warp and filling yarns shall have a minimum of 2 turns per inch. The number of single yarns specified in TABLE I shall be twisted together (plied) in one operation. 23、ng shall conform to TABLE I and 3.3 through 3.10. 3.4.1 Weave. 3.4.1.1 Types I and II. The weave for Types I and II shall be a double plain weave with a single filling. Separate binder warp ends shall weave 2 up, 2 down, 1 end as 1. All other warp yarns shall weave 2 ends as 1 except that the edge w

24、arp yarns shall weave 1 end as 1 not exceeding 8 ends on 1 selvage and 9 on the other. 3.4.1.2 Types III, IV and VI. The weave for Types III, IV and VI shall be a 5 up, 1 down, 1 up, 5 down herringbone twill with 1 reversal at the center of the webbing. The weave is shown on FIGURE 1. 3.4.1.3 Type V

25、. The weave for Type V shall be a 5 up, 1 down, 1 up, 5 down, 1 up, 1 down twill. The weave is shown on FIGURE 2. 3.5 Color. The webbing shall be natural color. 3.6 Length. Unless otherwise specified by the procuring activity, each roll of webbing shall contain 90 to 110 yards. No roll shall contain

26、 more than 3 pieces, and no piece shall be less than 10 yards in length. 3.7 Identification tickets. Each roll shall have a ticket attached with not finer than 5-ply cotton string doubled to not less than 6 inches long. The tickets shall be made of paperboard not less than 0.015 inch in thickness an

27、d the color shall be manila or light in intensity to permit easy reading of printed, stamped or typed markings. The use of handwritten entries is prohibited. The ticket shall have clipped corners at the end where a reinforcing patch (with or without a metal eyelet) is firmly affixed for attaching th

28、e tying string. The ticket shall be legibly printed with water insoluble ink with the following information: Stock number Nomenclature Type, Class and specification number Width Gross yardage Number of pieces Contract number Date of manufacture (month and year) Name of contractor Name of contracting

29、 agency. When webbing is not procured directly by the Government, the above information shall appear on the container, in which case individual roll tickets are not required. 30、en directed in the procurement document or purchase order, each roll of webbing shall be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance with the Rules and Regulations under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act (see 2.2.1). 3.9 Workmanship. The finished webbing shall conform to the qual

31、ity of product established by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable Acceptance Quality Limit. 3.10 Date of Manufacture (see 6.1). When required by the procurement document, the textile manufacturer shall properly identify the age of the textile materials by pl

32、acing a tag on the finished goods or label on the containers identifying the specification to which the material is manufactured, the lot number and the date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects the physical ch

33、aracteristics of the material. 4. VERIFICATION. 4.1 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.2) b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 First article inspection. The first article, submitted in accordanc

34、e with 3.1, shall be inspected and tested as specified in 4.3 through 4.7 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship and dimensional requirements. 4.3 Conformance inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed as specified in this document unless otherwise specified in the contrac

35、t or order (see 6.1). 4.4 Inspecting conditions. In accordance with 4.1 above, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this specification or applicable procurement documen

36、ts. 4.4.1 Component testing. In addition to the quality assurance provisions of the subsidiary specifications, component materials listed in TABLE II shall be tested for the specified characteristics in accordance with the referenced test methods. The lot size shall be expressed in pounds, and the s

37、ample unit shall be 500 yards of the nylon yarn. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more units fail to meet any requirement specified. All test reports shall contain the individual values utilized in expressing the final result. The sample size shall be as follows: Lot size (pounds) Sample size

When Certificates of Compliance are submitted, the Government procuring activity reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.6 End Item Inspection. 4.6.1 Yard-by-yard examination. The webbing shall be

41、examined on both sides for the defects listed in TABLE IV. All defects found shall be counted regardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition, in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be co

42、unted as one defect for each warp-wise yard or fraction thereof in which it occurs. The lot size shall be expressed in yards. The sample unit shall be 1 yard of webbing. Acceptance sampling shall be determined using Inspection Level III with Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) of 2.5 minor defects. No cr

43、itical defects are allowed. The number of rolls from which the sample is to be selected shall be in accordance with TABLE III.
