、rbital operations was somewhat compromised when ground training did not include exposure to high-fidelity training simulators.Lesson(s) Learned: Training and mission simulation for crew and ground support personnel relating to on-orbit payload operation should be continued on future missions to enha
、nce the efficiency of on-orbit operations. The training simulators and mission simulations should be of high fidelity. The number and duration of mission simulations should be based upon the length and complexity of the mission. A minimum of 2 simulations 3 to 4 weeks apart, one to include science t
、eam members, should be required.Recommendation(s): Provide crew training which encompasses the following concepts: high-fidelity mockups available in the crew training center; the degree of fidelity should be driven by the degree of safety concern and the amount of crew time dedicated to an experime
、nt during the mission. High-fidelity software simulators available for all experiments, which have crew interface or data output. The degree of fidelity should be driven by safety concerns and on-orbit crew time scheduled for the experiment. Provisions for hands-on crew participation in integrated t
、ests. At least two long-duration mission simulations should be conducted with mandatory participation of the science team (principal investigator) in at least one.Evidence of Recurrence Control Effectiveness: Comparison of operations of equipment with training accomplished on high-fidelity mockups w
