2、lanned to be tested on a “bobtail“ engine. To provide integrated testing, which takes into account the component interactions, however it was decided to add a shortened version of the thrust chamber. The shortened version had an area ratio of 35:1 versus the flight configuration requirements of 77.5

The test engine could throttle to 50% without requiring a vacuum chamber.Lesson(s) Learned: The use of an Integrated Subsystem test Bed and Full Engine Testing in preference to individual component testing speeds up the development process and produces a high reliability engine that takes int

4、o account subsystem interactions. A special engineering and management team is required to integrate the components and to plan the test program.Recommendation(s): Establish component design through analysis, engineering design, and interface engineering. The build an integrated test bed engine that

5、 takes into account all of the environmental, interface, and operational factors.
