5、perseding AMS2451/3B Plating, Brush, Nickel Low Stress, Low-Hardness Deposit RATIONALE AMS2451/3C is the result of a Five-Year Review with a change to paragraph 3.2.5 hydrogen embrittlement. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Purpose This specification covers the requirements for brush plating of low-hardness, low-stress
6、 nickel by electrodeposition. 1.2 Application This process has been used typically to improve the corrosion and oxidation resistance of steel alloys, to repair damaged, worn, or mismachined parts requiring low residual surface stress, to prepare surfaces for brazing, and to repair nickel electrodepo
7、sits on parts with service a temperature up to 700 F (371 C) but is not limited to such applications. 1.3 Safety - Hazardous Materials Shall be in accordance with AMS2451. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS In addition to those listed in AMS2451, the issue of the following documents in effect on the date of th
8、e purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Shall be in accordance with AMS2451 and as follows. 3.1 Procedure 3.1.1 Nickel shall be electrodeposited from a sulfamate nickel brush plating solution in accordance with instructions from the solution manufacturer. The plating solution shall contai
11、n no addition agents, including stress-reducing agents, which might have a detrimental effect on properties of the plate or of the basis metal. 3.2 Properties 3.2.1 Adhesion to Specimens The requirements of AMS 2451 shall apply. 3.2.2 Hardness The hardness of the deposit shall be no greater than 300
12、 HV, or equivalent. 3.2.3 Stress The residual stress in the deposit shall be within the range of 5 ksi (34.5 MPa) compressive, to 15.0 ksi (103 MPa) tensile. 3.2.4 Heat Resistance The requirements of AMS 2451 shall apply. 3.2.5 Hydrogen Embrittlement Shall be in accorddnace with AMS2451. 3.2.6 Corro
13、sion Resistance The requirements of AMS 2451 shall apply except as follows. Specimens shall be plated to a thickness of 0.0003 to 0.0006 inches (8 to 16 m). The post-plating treatment shall be that of the heat resistance test or the hydrogen embrittlement relief treatment. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVI
14、SIONS Shall be in accordance with AMS2451. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY Shall be in accordance with AMS2451. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT Shall be in accordance with AMS2451. 7.
