SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of sheet and plate 0.032 to 0.310 inch, incl (0.81 to 7.87 mm, incl) in thickness, clad on both sides (see 8.4). 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for for
7、med structural aircraft parts requiring improved resistance to fatigue crack growth and high toughness with strength similar to Alclad 2024-T3, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corro
8、sion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. 24、purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.5 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for In
25、spection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requi
26、rements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), fatigue-crack growth rate (3.3.2), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 27、 Periodic Tests Bending (3.3.4) and cladding thickness (3.3.5) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. One chemical composition analysis shal
28、l be determined for each ingot casting drop and one fatigue crack growth test shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition and tolerances and showing the numerical res
29、ults of tests for tensile properties and fatigue crack growth of each inspection lot and stating that the product conforms to the other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4296C, size, and quantity. The report shall also identify the
30、 producer, the product form, and the size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1, the report shall contain a statement to that effect. 4.4.2 When material produced to this specification is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope of tables, or other excepti
31、ons are taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.1.1), the report shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS4296C(EXC) because of the following exceptions.” and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with A
32、MS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.1.1 When technical exceptions are taken (see 4.4.2), the material shall be marked with AMS4296(EXC). 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Product shall be protected from damage during storage and shipment by a metho
33、d determined by producer unless specified by purchaser. Examples of typical protective methods include but are not limited to interleaving with paper or oiling of the surface. 5.2.2 Product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regula
34、tions pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6.
