SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of sheet and plate 0.020 to 6.000 inches (0.551 to 152.4 mm), inclusive, in thickness (see 8.5). 1.2 Application This product form has bee
7、n used typically for structural parts requiring high strength up to 500 F (260 C) after proper precipitation heat treatment and which may require forming or welding during fabrication, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these produ
8、cts to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. 17、y aged to the T31 temper (see ANSI H35.1/H35/1M). 3.2.2 Plate Solution heat treated in accordance with AMS2772, stretched to produce a nominal permanent set of 2%, but not less than 1-1/2% nor more than 3%, and naturally aged to temper T351 (see ANSI H35.1/H35.1M). 3.2.2.1 Plate shall receive no fur
18、ther straightening operations after stretching. 3.3 Properties Product shall conform to the following requirements, determined on the mill produced size in accordance with AMS2355. In addition, test specimens in the T31 and T351 condition shall not be required to be tested within 4 days after comple
19、tion of the heat treatment. If the manufacturer so elects, samples may be tested after less than 4 days aging, but if they fail to show the specified properties, the test samples may be discarded, and additional specimens may be tested after 4 days aging. These specimens shall be taken from the same

24、ter precipitation heat treatment to the T81 or T851 temper respectively (see ANSI H35.1/H35.1M), shall have the properties shown in Table 3. 28、 7 6 5 5 4 3.3.3 Mechanical property requirements for product outside of the range covered by Tables 2 and 3 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer. 3.4 Quality Product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from
29、imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.4.1 When specified, plate shall be subjected to ultrasonic inspection in accordance with ASTM B594, and shall meet the requirements shown in Table 4. Ultrasonic requirements for plate exceeding 4.500 inches thick shall be agreed upon by purchaser

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser
32、 reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), as-received tensile properties (3.3.1.1), precipitation heat treated tensile pro
33、perties (3.3.2.1), when specified, ultrasonic inspection (3.4.1) and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and except for composition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with e
34、ach shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition, tolerances, and ultrasonic testing when specified, and showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase
35、order number, inspection lot numbers, condition, AMS4601A, size, and quantity. The report shall also identify the producer, the product form, and the size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When material produced to this specification, is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope or tables or other exceptions a
36、re taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.1.1), the report shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS4601A(EXC) because of the following exceptions.” and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS235
37、5. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4601A Page 6 of 6 5.1.1 When technical exceptions are taken (see 4.4.1), the material shall be marked with AMS4601(EXC). 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Product shall be protected from damage duri
38、ng storage and shipment by a method determined by producer unless specified by purchaser. Examples of typical protective methods include, but are not limited to interleaving with paper or oiling of the surface. 5.2.2 Product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in complian
39、ce with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purc
40、hase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
