、AEROSPACE MATERIAL SPECIFICATION AMS6382 REV. P Issued 1939-12 Reaffirmed 2006-02 Revised 2014-08 Superseding AMS6382N Steel, Bars, Forgings, and Rings 0.95Cr - 0.20Mo (0.38 - 0.43C) (SAE 4140) Annealed (Composition similar to UNS G41400) RATIONALE AMS6382P results from a Five Year Review and update

、 of this specification that revises macrostructure, decarburization, and reporting requirements. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, flash welded rings, and stock for forging or flash welded rings. 1.2 Application These prod

、ucts have been used typically for parts 0.50 inch (12.7 mm) and under in nominal section thickness at time of heat treatment, requiring a through-hardened steel capable of developing hardness as high as 50 HRC when appropriately heat treated and for parts of greater thickness but requiring proportio

、nately lower hardness, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking after heat treatment; ARP1110 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The

、 issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referenced document has been cancelled

、 and no superseding document has been specified, the last published issue of that document shall apply. _ SAE Technical Standards Board Rules provide that: “This report is published by SAE to advance the state of technical and engineering sciences.
