THE PLASTIC SPLINED BUSHING SHALL BE FABRICATED FROM HIGH STRENGTH, SELF-LUBRICATING POLYMERIC MATERIALS HAVING ULTIMATE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTHS OF A MINIMUM OF28,000 PSI. TYPICAL MATERIALS INC

14、ING FEMALE OUTPUT SHAFT. THE FEMALE SHAFT SPLINE SHALL BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED TO REMOVESEDIMENT AND GREASE BEFORE INSTALLATION OF THE BUSHING. THE DESIGN RESULTS IN AN INTERFERENCEFIT OF THE BUSHING INTO THE INVOLUTE SPLINE AND A SLIDING FIT OF THE NEW ACCESSORY SHAFT INTO THEBUSHING.5. INSTALLATION.
15、 THE NONMETALLIC SPLINE ADAPTER IS DESIGNED TO BE INSTALLED IN THE DRIVE SHAFTFEMALE SPLINE PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE DRIVEN ACCESSORY. NONMETALLIC SPLINE ADAPTER ARE INTENDEDTO FIT TIGHTLY IN THE FEMALE SPLINE IN WHICH THEY ARE INSTALLED. TO AVOID DAMAGING THE DRIVE SHAFTOR ACCESSORY SHAFT BEARINGS A
16、ND SEALS, THE SPLINE ADAPTERS SHOULD BE PRESSED INTO THE MATINGSPLINES AND THE PRESSURE SHOULD BE REMOVED AS SOON AS THE SPLINE ADAPTER IS FULLY INSTALLED.6. RETENTION AND PRELOAD. THE NONMETALLIC SPLINE ADAPTERS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO FIT TIGHTLY IN NEWFEMALE SPLINES. THE TIGHTNESS OF THE FIT WILL D
17、IMINISH WHEN THE NONMETALLIC ADAPTER IS INSTALLEDIN WORN OR USED FEMALE SPLINES. THE SPLINE ADAPTER HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO FIT TIGHTLY TO ACHIEVE ACOMPRESSIVE PRELOAD WHICH EXTENDS THE OPERATING TORSIONAL RANGE OF THE NONMETALLIC SPLINEADAPTER. THE TIGHT FIT ALSO PROVIDES A RESISTANCE TO AXIAL MOVEMEN
18、T WHICH AFFORDS SOME DEGREEOF RETENTION. HOWEVER, THE APPLICATION GENERALLY SHOULD REQUIRE SOME POSITIVE METHOD OF AXIALRETENTION OF THE PART. POSITIVE RETENTION CAN BE ACHIEVED BY A VARIETY OF METHODS INCLUDINGLENGTHENING THE NONMETALLIC ADAPTER, INCORPORATION OF FLANGES IN THE ADAPTER DESIGN, AND THEUSE OF SNAP OR SPIRAL LOCK RINGS TO LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF AXIAL CLEARANCE.
