INSPECTION GAGE IS USED TO DETERMINE THE WEAR CHARACTERISTICS OF AS81
11、790/1 CONTACTS USED FOR EXTERNAL 270 VOLT POWER CONNECTORS IN THE AEROSPACE VEHICLES. 2. GAGE SHOULD BE GENTLY ENGAGED WITH THE CONTACT. WHEN RESISTANCE OCCURS CONTACT IS CONSIDERED GOOD. 3. WHEN THE GAGE COMPLETELY SLIDES DOWN TO THE CONNECTOR BASE ON ALL CONTACTS IN A CONNECTOR FACING AT AN ANGLE
12、TO THE GROUND, THE CONNECTOR IS RECOMMENDED TO BE REPLACED (SEE FIGURE 2). 4. WHEN THE GAGE COMPLETELY OR PARTIALLY SLIDES DOWN TO THE CONNECTOR BASE ON ANY CONTACT IN A CONNECTOR, THE CONNECTOR CONNECTION IS SUSPECT AND ELECTRICAL VOLTAGE AT THE FIRST POWER DISTRIBUTION POINT OR MOTOR GENERATOR SHO
13、ULD BE MEASURED AND DETERMINED TO BE WITHIN VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS. IF THE VOLTAGE IS TO LOW, THE CONNECTOR IS SHOULD BE REPLACED. 5. IN ALL CASES WHEN THE GAGE COMPLETELY SLIDES BEYOND THE FRONT .1 INCH OF THE PIN TOWARDS THE BASE ON ANY CONTACT, THE VOLTAGE SHOULD BE MEASURED AT THE FIRST POWER DISTRIBUTION POINT OR MOTOR GENERATOR AND DETERMINED TO BE WITHIN VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS, AT THE NEXT FULL MAINTENANCE CYCLE. IF THE VOLTAGE IS TOO LOW, THE CONNECTOR IS RECOMMENDED TO BE REPLACED. FIGURE 2 - INSPECTION GAGE APPLICATION (CONNECTOR SHOWN ONLY AS AN EXAMPLE)
