9、2in area, or 30 g in mass. 3.2 Ensure, by inspection and appropriate finishing, that the raw edges of each test specimen are suitably finished to prevent fraying during the pretreatment. 4 Procedure 4.1 Procedure A 4.1.1 Washing 4.1.1.1 Place a test specimen (or several specimens of the same fabric,

10、 provided their combined mass does not exceed 30 g), in a container and add 250 mL of washing solution that has been preheated to 60 C 2 C. 4.1.1.2 Securely close the container and operate the washing device (preheated and maintained at a temperature of 60 C 2 C), agitating the test specimen(s) for

11、30 min. 4.1.2 Rinsing 4.1.2.1 Remove the test specimen(s) from the container, rinse in distilled water at room temperature and then rinse thoroughly in running tap water until all traces of washing solution have been removed. 4.1.2.2 Squeeze the test specimen(s) to remove excess moisture. 4.1.3 Dryi

12、ng Suspend the test specimen(s) freely in air at a temperature not exceeding 60 C 2 C , until dry. SANS 11108:2008 Edition 3 3 4.1.4 Pressing Transfer the test specimen(s) to the bed of the press, smooth out (by hand) any wrinkles without stretching or distorting the test specimen(s) and operate the press until all wrinkles and creases have been removed. 4.2 Procedure B Proceed as in 4.1 (procedure A) above but heat the washing solution to 50 C 2 C, maintain the temperature in the washing device at that temperature and agitate the test specimen(s) for 45 min.
