8、ISO 12308:1994(E) Foreword ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national Standards bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees. Esch member body interested in a sub
9、ject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (I
10、EC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization. Draft International Standards adopted by the Itechnical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote. International St

In the field of internal combustion engines
14、 and other series production, it is necessary to work with differ- ent types of samples depending on the purpose. Different types of samples are - samples used for tests and examinations which are carried out in the experimental Stage and Pilot lot Stage; these include fitting samples, prototype sam
15、ples and intermediate samples; - samples used to prove that the qualityl) is in ac- cordante with the quality requirements (dimen- sions, material and Performance specification); these include initial samples and reference sam- ples and, if necessary, intermediate samples; - samples which give selec

At the time of publi- cation, the edition indicated was valid. All St
17、andards are subject to revision, and Parties to agreements based on this International Standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most re- cent edition of the Standard indicated below. Mem- bers of IEC and ISO maintain registers of currently valid International Standards.

In the fields of application listed in clause 1, the “Initial Sample Test Report” is used for the initial samples and the characteristic modification samples. When the purchaser carries out an in- spection, he informs the manufacturer about the re- sults. The t
