7、(edition 1). Preface This part of the specification has been prepared under the direction of the SABS Clothing Committee. It is, in technical content, identical to ISO 4417. The specification is one of a series which deals essentially with the size designation of clothes, and is not directly concern
8、ed with sizing systems as such. The primary aim of this specification is, as in the other specifications in the series, to establish a size designation system that is based on body measurements, and that in this case indicates (in a simple, direct, and meaningful manner) the size of the head of the
9、person that an item of headwear is intended to fit. Provided that the size of the persons head (as indicated by the appropriate dimensions) has been accurately determined, this system will facilitate the choice of headwear that fits. Choice of headwear measurements is normally left to the designer a

NOTE The standards referred to in this part of the specification are listed in appendix A. 2 Definitions 2.1 For the purposes of this part of the specification the relevant definitions given in SANS 10184 and the foll

Where it is not practicable to use the standard pictogram, the numerical value of the control dimension shal

NOTE The recommended type for use on pictograms is UNIVERS No. U-59. 4.2.2 The girth measurement(s) shall be shown on
17、 the left-hand side of the pictogram. 4.3 Headwear measurements Headwear measurements shall not be incorporated in the size designation but, where considered of value, they may be indicated separately (see 5.3). 5 Labelling 5.1 Method The size designation of each item of headwear shall be indicated

Numerals shall, in all cases, be readily discernible. 5.2 Attachment The label or swing ticket shall be securely attached to the headwear in a position where it is easily readable. 5.3 Additional inform

Such additional information may include a size code number or hea

Where the size designation is supplemented by a size code number, separation of the two, as illustrated, renders the size code number readily recognizable as being part of a system of a size designation adopted for a limited population group only.
