3、: Sections 75 and 76Subject: Performance tests for High Power Speaker ArraysDECISION:PERFORMANCE TESTS - HPSA75 General75.1 HPSA Systems75.1.1 HPSA systems shall comply with the requirements of this section 76.75.2 Integral control equipment and separate subsystems75.2.1 Electronic equipment either

4、integral with the HPSA or in a separate subsystem shall meet therequirements of 48 - 74.76 HPSA Performance Tests76.1 Directivity Test76.1.1 The HPSA shall be mounted as in normal service and located and oriented as described in 76.1.3.The HPSA shall be driven by pink noise at rated power input. The

5、 sound pressure level of the 1/3 octaveband centered at 1000 Hz shall be measured unweighted in the forward horizontal and vertical planes ofthe reference axis.76.1.2 The directivity characteristic shall be identified by the angles at which the sound pressure leveldecreases by 3 dB and 6 dB from the

6、 HPSAs rated output when measured at a radius of3mintheforward horizontal and vertical planes of the reference axis.76.1.3 The directivity test measurement shall be made with the HPSA mounted in an anechoic orhemi-anechoic chamber. During the measurement process:a) No obstructions shall exist betwee

7、n the HPSA and microphone;b) The mounting platforms of the HPSA and microphone shall be free from acousticalinterference while conducting measurements;c) The noise floor shall be more than 30 decibels lower than the sound pressure level of theHPSA at rated voltage; andUL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUT

9、nter of the enclosure. On a single-speakersystem where the largest sound source is 10 inches or greater, the measurement microphone isto be placed 6.56 feet (2 m) from the front of the enclosure, and on axis with the physicalcenter of the enclosure. On multiple-driver speaker systems, the measuremen

10、t microphone is tobe placed 6.56 feet (2 m) on an axis defined by the manufacturer.76.1.4 Measurements are not prohibited from being made in other locations when the measurementequipment employed is capable of simulating a non-reflective environment.76.2 HPSA System Performance76.2.1 HPSA System Per

11、formance76.2.1.1 HPSA Speech Intelligibility76.2.1.1.1 An HPSA shall meet speech intelligibility requirements listed below:76.2.1.1.2 When the STIPA test signal is injected into an HPSA system, the STI (Speech TransmissionIndex) of a high powered speaker array shall be 0.7 or higher.76.2.1.1.3 HPSA

12、products utilizing microphone input(s) shall comply with 76.2.1.1.6.1 and 76.2.1.1.6.2.76.2.1.1.4 HPSA products utilizing direct injection input(s) shall comply with 76.2.1.1.6.3 and 76.2.1.1.6.4.76.2.1.1.5 HPSA products utilizing both microphone input(s) and direct injection unputs shall comply wit

13、h76.2.1.1.6.1 through 76.2.1.1.6.4.76.2.1.1.63 Speech intelligibility measurement shall be made with the HPSA mounted in an anechoic orhemi-anechoic chamber. During the measurement process:a) No obstructions shall exist between the HPSA and microphone;b) The mounting platforms of the HPSA and microp

20、r inches from the system microphone on-axis, perpendicular to the face of the microphone.76.2.1.1.6.1.2 Utilizing the signal described in 76.2.1.4.1.1, the gain of the system shall be adjusted tomatch the rated output to the speaker. 76.2.1.1.6.1.3 The system under test, calibrated as described in76

21、.2.1.1.6.1.1 76.2.1.1.6.1.5 shall have no more than a 3dB difference between manual paging toneusing the system microphone and any pre-recorded tone, where utilized.76.2.1.1.6.1.4 The dBA measurement shall be made using an integrating/averaging meter and averagedover approximately 10 seconds of voic

22、e announcement to compensate for voice amplitude modulation.76.2.1.1.6.1.5 System under test employing more than one emergency paging microphone and/orpre-recorded message units shall have the primary units calibrated first. The secondary units shall thenbe tested to ensure that the signals produced

23、 throughout the system under test are at the same amplitudeas the primary units.76.2.1.1.6.2 Talk Box STI Measurement76.2.1.1.6.2.1 Replace the 1 kHz calibration signal with the STIPA signal and configure the analyzer toSPLA fast response measurement mode.76.2.1.1.6.2.2 The STIPA signal shall be int

24、roduced four inches from the analyzer microphone on-axis,perpendicular to the face of the microphone.76.2.1.1.6.2.3 The talk box volume shall be adjusted to measure the same output level as determined in76.1.1.6.1.1.76.2.1.1.6.2.4 The HPSA microphone shall then replace the STI analyzers microphone w

25、hile remainingat the same distance.76.2.1.1.6.2.5 The STI shall be measured in accordance with 76.2.1.1.6.76.2.1.1.6.3 System Calibration via Direct Input Injection76.2.1.1.6.3.1 The level used for direct injection shall be adjusted to produce rated output of the HPSA asidentified in the manufacture

26、rs installation instructions.76.2.1.1.6.4 Direct Input Injection STI MeasurementSTANDARD NUMBER: UL 2572 -3-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL76.2.1.1.6.4.1 The input level of the STIPA signal shall be the same as the measured pr

27、e-recorded levels.76.2.1.2 Audibility76.2.1.2.1 An HPSA system shall produce a total sound pressure output of no less than its marked ratedoutput.76.2.1.2.2 A high powered speaker array or audible signal appliance shall produce a total sound-pressureoutput not less than its marked rated sound pressu

28、re level.76.2.1.2.3 The measurement shall be made with the HPSA or appliance mounted in an anechoic orhemi-anechoic chamber. During the measurement process:a) No obstructions shall exist between the HPSA and microphone;b) The mounting platforms of the HPSA and microphone shall be free from acoustica

29、linterference while conducting measurements;c) The noise floor shall be more than 30 decibels lower than the sound pressure level of theHPSA at rated voltage; andd) On speaker system where the largest sound source dimension is less than or equal to 20inches (508 mm), the measurement microphone is to

30、 be placed 6.56 feet (2 m) from the front ofthe enclosure, and on axis with the physical center of the enclosure. If the source is greaterthan 20 inches (508 mm), the sound level shall be measured in the linear response field wherethe sound output level decreases -6 dBA per doubling the distance. No

31、rmally this occurs atdistances a minimum of 3-10 times the extent of the radiating array length.e) Measurements are to be made after the completion of each of the tests identified in Table76.2 below. The sample shall be energized at nominal rated voltage and frequency per Section29.1.2, and mounted

32、in an anechoic or hemi-anechoic chamber.76.2.1.2.3.1 The sound-pressure output can be extrapolated from a single array measurement to calculatethe maximum array configuration sound pressure level using the following formula:SPLextrapolated= SPLmeasured+ (# of sourcesextrapolated/ # of sourcesmeasure

33、d)All sources must receive equal power.76.2.1.2.4 The sound-pressure output then is to be converted to an equivalent sound pressure level for aradius of 10 feet (3.05 m) using the following formula:SPL (10 ft) = SPL - 20 log(r)in which:r is the difference between 10 feet (3.05 m) and the measurement

34、 difference.76.2.1.2.5 The sound output of a high-powered speaker array is to be the overall A-weighted value andis to be measured with a Type 1 sound level meter. The sample is to be mounted in its intended position.The HPSA then is to be connected to an amplifier whose input is connected to a band

35、-pass filter tofrequency limit the pink noise from a pink-noise generator over the frequency range of 400 - 4000 Hz. TheSTANDARD NUMBER: UL 2572 -4-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ULnoise shall be band-pass filtered at 24 decibel

36、s per octave, with Butterworth filter response characteristics,and have a peak to RMS voltage ratio between 1.8 - 2.2. 39、conditions indicatedin Table 76. The measurement is to be made using a sound level meter having an A weighting factor ona level scale that precludes meter saturation. The measurement is to be made with the output of the HPSAconfigured at a reduced level equivalent to approximately 100dB at 10 feet u

40、nder the test conditions listedin Table 76.3. 42、3.4 A High Power Speaker Array intended for tone and speech reproduction shall operate asintended when operated at full rated power for 5 minutes of signaling with a 1 KHz alert tone followed by5 minutes in the de-energized state for 3000 cycles.76.2.1.4.33.5 For a battery-operated product, a filter

43、ed DC supply is to be used that has an output voltageequivalent to the fresh battery voltage.76.2.1.4.43.6 The HPSAs sound pressure level, as measured in 76.2.1.2 shall vary by no more than 3decibels during the test from the marked rated output. During the test the HPSA shall exhibit no electricalor

44、 mechanical malfunctions.STANDARD NUMBER: UL 2572 -5-UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL76.2.1.4.53.7 At the conclusion of the conditioning, the HPSA samples shall comply with SpeechIntelligibility per Section 76.2.1.1.76.2.1.54 H

45、PSA Charging current test76.2.1.5.41 This test is to be conducted in conjunction with the Component Temperature Test, Section5251.76.2.1.65 Discharged battery76.2.1.65.1 The terminal voltage of a battery discharged as specified in 76.2.1.65.2 - 76.2.1.65.5 shall notbe less than 85 percent of the mar

46、ked nominal battery voltage.76.2.1.65.2 The battery is first to be charged by applying AC input power to the product for 48 hours,during which the product is to be operated continuously with normal standby load connected. AC input isthen to be disconnected, and terminal voltage of the battery is to

47、be measured one minute afterdisconnection.76.2.1.65.3 The battery is to be discharged by maintaining the normal standby load for a period of 168hours. The HPSA shall be powered by its battery and during the time of the test the charger circuits (mainsor solar panel-powered) shall be deactivated.76.2

48、.1.65.4 At the conclusion of the normal standby discharge period, the power source shall have thecapacity to sustain the full alarm load for the applicable equipment and time period specified in 76.2.1.6.5.76.2.1.65.5 An HPSA shall be operated for 60 minutes for alternate 5-minute periods of being e

49、nergizedenergization and de-energized de-energization. Overcurrent protection devices shall remain deactivatedduring this test. During the test, a square-wave variable frequency signal shall be applied. The energizedstate shall be represented by a RMS voltage value which produces the rated sound pressure level of theHPSA. The frequency of the signal shall be continuously varied from either 750 Hz or the lowest frequencyrating of the integral HPSA (whichever is lower) to 1,800 Hz or the highest frequency rating of internalHPSA (whichever is higher), then returned to the lower value
