9、erences included in the UL adoptionof the corresponding IEC standard.In its IEC-based standards, UL uses the notations indicated below to identify national difference type, andthese types are additionally noted in this document. The standard may not use all types of thesedeviations.D1 - These are de

10、viations which are based on basic safety principles and requirements, elimination ofwhich would compromise safety for U.S. consumers and users of products.D2 - These are deviations based on safety practices. These are deviations for IEC requirements that maybe acceptable, but adopting the IEC requir

11、ements would require considerable retesting or redesign on themanufacturers part.DC - These are deviations based on the component standards and will not be deleted until a particularcomponent standard is harmonized with the IEC component standard.DE - These are deviations based on editorial comments

12、 or corrections.DR - These are deviations based on the national regulatory requirements.Each national difference contains a description of what the national difference entails. Typically one of thefollowing words is used to explain how the text of the national difference is to be applied to the base

13、 IECtext:Addition / Add - An addition entails adding a complete new numbered clause, subclause, table,figure, or annex. Addition is not meant to include adding select words to the base IEC text.Deletion / Delete - A deletion entails complete deletion of an entire numbered clause, subclause,table, fi

14、gure, or annex without any replacement text.Modification / Modify - A modification is an altering of the existing base IEC text such as theaddition, replacement or deletion of certain words or the replacement of an entire clause,subclause, table, figure, or annex of the base IEC text.DECEMBER 14, 20

16、he construction,testing and marking of electrical equipment, parts of electrical equipment and Excomponents with the type of protection encapsulation “m” intended for use in explosivegas atmospheres or explosive dust atmospheres.This part standard applies only for encapsulated electrical equipment,

17、encapsulated partsof electrical equipment and encapsulated Ex components (hereinafter always referred to as“m” equipment) where the rated voltage does not exceed 11 kV.The application of electrical equipment in atmospheres, which may contain explosive gasas well as combustible dust simultaneously, m

18、ay require additional protective measures.This standard does not apply to dusts of explosives, which do not require atmosphericoxygen for combustion, or to pyrophoric substances.This standard does not take account of any risk due to an emission of flammable or toxicgas from the dust.This standard su

19、pplements and modifies the general requirements of IEC 60079-0. Wherea requirement of this standard conflicts with a requirement of IEC 60079-0, the requirementof this standard takes precedence.Where references are made to other IEC 60079 standards, the referenced requirementsfound in these standard

31、 in accordance with 8.1.1 or, if this test is notperformed, the certificate number for the equipment shall include the “X” suffix be markedto indicate the specific conditions of use in accordance with the specific conditions ofuse marking requirements of IEC UL 60079-0 and the specific conditions of

32、 use listed onthe certificate shall detail the precautions necessary.7.1DV DR Modification of Clause 7.1 to replace with the following:Where the compound forms part of the external enclosure it shall comply with therequirements of IEC UL 60079-0 for non metallic enclosures and non metallic parts ofe

33、nclosures.If the surface of the compound is totally or partly surrounded by an enclosure and theenclosure is part of the protection, the enclosure or parts of the enclosure shall complywith the enclosure requirements of IEC UL 60079-0Additional protective measures may be required to be provided by t

34、he user in theinstallation in order to comply with the requirements of this standard. For example,additional mechanical protection may be required to protect the equipment from a directimpact. In such cases, the certificate number for the equipment shallbe marked include the“X” suffix in accordance

35、with the marking requirements of IEC UL 60079-0 and the specificconditions of use listed in the certificate shall detail the precautions necessary.Appropriate action shall be taken to accommodate the expansion of components duringnormal operation and in the event of faults according to 7.2.In 7.2 to

36、 7.9 the requirements differ according to whether the compound adheres to theenclosure. Where adhesion is specified, the aim is to prevent the ingress of explosiveatmospheres and moisture at the boundary surfaces (for example enclosure-compound,compound-parts that are not completely embedded in the

37、compound, such as printedwiring boards, connection terminals, etc.). Where adhesion is required to maintain the typeof protection, it shall be maintained after completion of all the prescribed tests. The choiceof the compound(s) to be used for a specific application is dependent on the task eachcomp

38、ound has to perform. Testing a compound once for a given application will notqualify that compound for all applications.NOTE Tests for adhesion are under consideration.7.6.2DV DR Modification of Clause 7.6.2 to replace with the following:The Ex ma equipment shall either be supplied by a circuit in a

41、 the equipment manufacturer, or by theprotective device, see 7.9, for example 1,7 times the rating of the fuse, or at short circuit ifneither a load nor a protective device is specified.A resistor, a current limiting device or a fuse according to IEC 60127 or IEC UL 60691 orANSI/UL 248 series may be

42、 used to ensure the maximum discharge current specified bythe manufacturer of the cells or battery is not exceeded. If replaceable fuses are used theequipment shall be marked to show their rating and function.NOTE It is not a requirement of this standard that conformity to the manufacturers specific

43、ation of the resistor,current limiting device or fuse needs to be verified.7.9.1DV.1 DR Modification of Clause 7.9.1, fourth paragraph, Note 3 and Note 4 toreplace with the following:7.9.1DV.1.1 For level of protection “ma”, if the non resettable protective device complieswith IEC 60127 series or IE

44、C UL 60691 or ANSI/UL 248 series, only one device is necessary.This applies to 7.9.2 and 7.9.3.NOTE 3 It is not a requirement of this standard that conformity to the manufacturers specification of the nonresettable protective device needs to be verified.NOTE 4 ANSI/UL 248-1 contains the applicable g

45、eneral safety requirements for low-voltage fuses, including therequirements to establish breaking capacity or interrupting rating. The other parts of the ANSI/UL 248 seriesprovide additional specific safety requirements based on the intended application of the fuse, such as ANSI/UL248-14 for supplem

46、ental low-voltage fuses.7.9.3DV.1 DR Modification of Clause 7.9.3, fifth paragraph to replace with the following:7.9.5DV.1.1 Resettable thermal protective devices with switching contacts shall eithercomply with IEC UL 60730-2-9, or shall be tested according to 8.2.7.18.2.2DV DR Modification of Claus

47、e 8.2.2 to replace with the following:A sample of “m” equipment shall be subjected to a type test to ensure that:a) the temperature limits specified in 6.1 are not exceeded in normal operation;b) for level of protection “ma” and “mb” the maximum surface temperature is notexceeded under fault conditi

48、ons as defined in 7.2.1.For “m” equipment without an external load, the test shall be carried out in accordancewith the temperature measurements of IEC UL 60079-0 taking into account the supplyconditions given in 4.4.For “m” equipment with an external load, the test shall be carried out for level of
