6、37 mm2 253 mm2) welding cableintended for use in the secondary circuits of electric welders in accordance with Article 630 and otherapplicable parts of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. The cable is rated for a temperature of60, 75, 90, or 105C at either 100 or 600 volts. The cable is rate
7、d 600 volts only when 600 volts or 600V is marked on the tag and on the outer surface of the cable. Likewise, cable rated for 75, 90, or 105Cis both tag and surface marked 75C, 90C,or105C as applicable.2 Components2.1 Except as indicated in 2.2, a component of a product covered by this Outline shall

13、st Methods, UL 2556.CONSTRUCTION5 General5.1 The conductor shall be bunch or rope-lay flexible-stranded copper using 34 30 AWG strands. Theinsulation thicknesses are not specified for welding cable but are judged based on compliance of the cablewith the test program in Performance, Section 6.PERFORM
14、ANCE6 General6.1 Representative welding cable shall be subjected to the following tests:a) A detailed examination in accordance with the test, Thickness, as described in UL 2556.b) The Cold Bend test in accordance with the test, Cold Bend, as described in UL 2556. Thetest temperature shall be minus
15、35C and the metal mandrel shall be 8 times the diameter ofthe cable.c) The Cold Impact test (optional) in accordance with the test, Cold impact, as described in UL2556.d) The Sunlight Resistance Test in accordance with the test, Weather (sunlight) resistance asdescribed in UL 2556. The exposure time
16、 shall be 720 hours.e) The Crushing Resistance Test in accordance with the test, Crush resistance (Method 2). Thecable shall withstand the following minimum crushing forces without the conductor shorting tothe equipment: 4 AWG (21.2 mm2) 4000 pounds, 2/0 AWG (67.4 mm2) 7000 pounds.f) The Impact Resi
17、stance Test in accordance with 20.2 20.3 of the Standard forThermoplastic-Insulated Underground Feeder and Branch-Circuit Cables, UL 493. The cableshall be supported on 3/4 inch (19.1 mm) diameter metal mandrel and impacted by a 3/4 inch(19.1 mm) diameter cylindrical metal weight. The minimum impact
18、 energy to cause theconductor to short to the equipment is as follows: 4 AWG (21.2 mm2) 30 foot pounds, 2/0AWG (67.4 mm2) 45 foot pounds.g) The Abrasion Resistance Test in accordance with 22.1 22.4 of the Standard forNonmetallic-Sheathed Cables, UL 719. The test shall be performed using a 4 AWG (21.
19、2 mm2)representative cable. 20、ermoset-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 44 or the Standard for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires andCables, UL 83. Representative cables shall be tested in 50C or 75C water for 600-volt cableor in room-temperature water (23 5C) for 100-volt cable. The minimum resistance values shallbe in accordance with
21、UL 44 or UL 83 for materials found in those Standards. Other materialsshall comply with requirements for Class CP in UL 44 as a minimum.i) For 105C rated cable, Long-Term Insulation Resistance Test In air, in accordance with theStandard for Thermoset-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 44 or the Standard
22、 for Thermoplastic-Insulated Wires and Cables, UL 83, except that the oven temperature shall be 113C. Theminimum resistance values shall be in accordance with UL 44 or UL 83 for materials found inthose standards. Other materials shall comply with requirements for Class CP in UL 44 as aminimum.j) The
23、 Physical Properties Test in accordance with the test, Physical properties (ultimateinsulation and tensile strength), as described in UL 2556. The requirements for each specificmaterial shall be found in Section 50 of UL 1581. For materials with a temperature rating otherthan that specified in the t
24、ables, or for those materials not described in Specific Materials in UL1581, the requirements in Dry temperature rating of new materials (long-term aging test) in UL2556, shall be applied.k) The Cable Flame Test in accordance with Section 1061 of the Reference Standard forElectrical Wires, Cables, a
25、nd Flexible Cords, UL 1581. The representative cable tested shall bethe smallest size.l) The Cable Flame Tray Test for UL Flame Exposure optional, only applicable to sizes 1/0(53.5 mm2) and larger in accordance with the Standard for Vertical-Tray Fire-Propagation andSmoke-Release Test for Electrical
26、 and Optical-Fiber Cables, UL 1685.MARKINGS7 General7.1 On the wire7.1.1 A durable surface marking shall include the following:a) Identification of the organization responsible for the product. When the organizationresponsible for the product operates more than one manufacturing location, a distinct
27、iveidentification for each location shall be provided.b) The words Welding Cable.c) The AWG or kcmil size of the conductor.d) Dry and wet temperature ratings.e) The words 600 V or 600 Volts when the cable is rated 600 V.f) The words 100 V or 100 volts (optional).g) The words CT USE or Cable Tray Use
