10、PERMISSION FROM ULINTRODUCTION1 Scope1.1 These requirements cover equipment incorporating solid state switching elements intended forstarting, stopping, regulating, controlling, or protecting heating and other resistive loads, having a-cvoltage ratings above 1500 V, up to 15 kV.1.2 The requirements
11、do not cover variable speed motor controllers (power conversion equipment).1.3 These requirements cover equipment intended for use in ordinary locations in accordance with theNational Electrical Code.1.4 Equipment intended for starting, stopping, regulating, controlling or protecting electric motors

19、ctrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70; andb) Employ materials that are acceptable for the particular use.7 Enclosures7.1 Equipment shall comply with the requirements in Section 5.102 of the Standard for Medium-VoltageAC Contactors, Controllers, and Control Centers, UL 347, fifth edition.8 Grounding and Bonding
20、8.1 The grounding and bonding requirements in Section 5.3 of UL 347 apply.9 Protective Devices9.1 Controllers shall be provided with the following protective features:a) The control-circuit transformer shall be provided with primary and secondary fuses.Instrument potential transformers shall be prov
21、ided with primary fuses.b) Medium voltage fuses in each phase to automatically interrupt overload and fault currents inthe load and the equipment itself.9.2 Controllers shall be arranged such that when the high-voltage isolating means is open all high-voltagefuses will be readily accessible, so that
22、 they may be replaced without a person touching any live part. Theelectrical arrangement of a single-throw switch shall be such that, when properly connected, fuseterminals will be dead when the switch contacts are open.9.3 If the design of a controller is such that a low-voltage control circuit fus

24、 shall operate upon the loss of power in oneconductor of a polyphase circuit, to cause and maintain the interruption of power in all of the circuit inaccordance with 32.2.9.5 Solid state switching elements in the main circuit shall be provided with thermal sensing devices ineach pole that detect an
25、overtemperature and operate to de-energize the main circuit by de-energizingone or more magnetically operated devices.10 Isolating Means10.1 The isolating means requirements in Section 5.202 of UL 347 apply.10.2 Equipment shall be provided with an electromechanical contactor which opens the main cir
26、cuit whenthe controller is in the off or stopped position.11 Interlocking11.1 The interlocking requirements in Section 5.11 of UL 347 apply.12 Automatic Restarting12.1 Fault interrupting devices, in controllers shall not automatically reclose after a fault interrupting(short-circuit) operation.12.2
27、Other than as noted in 12.3, an overload circuit, undervoltage device, or any other protective orsensing device that is intended to interrupt the continuous operation of the heater shall not automaticallyreset after tripping.12.3 An overload circuit, undervoltage device, and the like, may automatica
28、lly reset after tripping providedthat:a) A manual operation is required to close the circuit, orb) The controller is marked in accordance with 37.1(x).12.4 If the wiring diagram of a controller indicates that one side of the control circuit is, or may begrounded, the control circuit shall be so arra

30、quirements in Section 5.205 of UL 347 apply.13.2 Other than as noted in 13.3, equipment operating above 7200 V, instruments, meters, relays,secondary control devices, and their wiring shall be isolated by grounded metal barriers from the primarycircuit elements, with the exception of short lengths o
31、f wire such as at instrument transformer terminalsand secondary disconnecting devices.13.3 The requirements of 13.2 do not apply to printed circuit board assemblies, such as gate driveboards, which are located in the same high voltage compartment as the devices they control, and areelectrically conn
32、ected to solid state switching devices operating at or near line potential. Such devicesshall be electrically isolated from low voltage devices and wiring through the use of isolation transformersor fiber optic signaling.13.4 Terminals and connections for wiring shall comply with Section 5.206 of UL

46、al are to be measured with wire of the appropriate sizeconnected to the terminal as in actual service. The connected wire shall be the next larger size than wouldbe required for the rating except that the required wire size shall be used if:a) The terminal will not accept the larger size, orb) The d

48、s having maximum standard dimensions and are not to be less than the spacings indicated inTable 16.1. Where the fuseholder construction permits a fuse to be partially inserted and remain in thatposition, spacings shall be measured with the fuse in the partially inserted position as well as in the fu
49、llyinserted position.16.1.6 The type and thickness of crossover-lead insulation and insulation under coil terminals secured tothe coil winding may be less than that specified in 16.2.1 16.2.6 provided that for thicknesses less than0.013 inch (0.33 mm) the coil is capable of withstanding a dielectric voltage-withstand test between coilend leads after breaking the inner coil lead where it enters the layer, or an equivalent-opposite polaritytest. The application of the test potential is to be in accordance with Dielectric Voltage - Withstand Test,Section 23.16.
