10、g the stator circuit of wind turbinesinvestigated to the Standard for Safety for Wind Turbines Permitting Entry of Personnel, UL 6141.1.1.2 The requirements do not cover variable speed motor controllers (power conversion equipment).1.1.3 These requirements cover equipment intended for use in ordinar

11、y locations in accordance with theNational Electrical Code.1.1.4 These requirements do not cover equipment intended for starting, stopping, regulating, controllingor protecting electric motors or other electrical loads including refrigeration equipment. Such equipment iscovered by the requirements t

12、he Standard for Medium-Voltage AC Contactors, Controllers, and ControlCenters, UL 347.1.1.5 These requirements are not intended to replace the requirements of IEEE 1547.1, StandardConformance Test Procedures for Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Resources with Electric PowerSystems. When this eq

13、uipment is used as part of an interconnected system, it is anticipated that the entiresystem will be investigated to the requirements of IEEE 1547.1 as appropriate.1.2 Normative references, component standards, and general requirements1.2.1 Products covered by this outline shall comply with the refe

14、rence installation codes and standardsnoted in Annex A of UL 347.1.2.2 Where noted in this Outline, requirements specified in the Standard for Medium-Voltage ACContactors, Controllers, and Control Centers, UL 347, sixth edition, apply to these products.1.2.3 For undated references to standards, such

15、 reference shall be considered to refer to the latestedition and all revisions to that edition up to the time when the standard was approved. For datedreferences to standards, such reference shall be considered to refer to the dated edition and all revisionspublished to that edition up to the time t

16、he standard was approved.1.2.4 Components utilized in the products covered by this outline shall comply with the appropriatestandards for these components and shall be used in accordance with their recognized ratings and otherlimitations of use. Annex D of UL 347 provides a partial listing of standa

17、rds applicable to componentstypically used in this equipment.1.2.5 A component need not comply with a specific requirement that:a) Involves a feature or characteristic not needed in the application of the component in theproduct covered in this outline, orb) Is superseded by a requirement in this ou

Any other values given shallbe for information purposes only.2 Normal and Special Servic

19、e Conditions2.1 Clause 2 of UL 347 applies, as modified by 2.2.2.2 Equipment may be investigated for a normal service condition with a maximum ambient temperatureexceeding 40C. In such cases, the equipment is to be tested at the higher ambient temperature, and allcomponents are to be determined to b

20、e suitable for use in the higher temperature environment.3 Definitions3.1 The definitions in Clause 3 of the Standard for Medium-Voltage AC Contactors, Controllers, andControl Centers, UL 347 apply.3.2 ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEM (EPS) Equipment or facilities that deliver electric power to a load(s).The m

21、ost common example of an EPS is an electric utility.3.3 WIND TURBINE (WT) A device or system of subassemblies that convert wind energy to electricpower and typically consists of an overall structure including; tower, nacelle, hub and blades as well asthe associated internal equipment.3.4 WIND TURBIN

22、E OUTPUT CIRCUIT The circuit conductors or equipment connected to the turbineoutput terminals or conductors where the turbine is intended to be connected to the electric power system(EPS).4 Ratings and Characteristics4.1 Clause 4 of UL 347 applies, with the following additions.4.2 The rated overload

23、 current is the maximum operating overcurrent that the contactor is expected tointerrupt.5 Design and Construction5.1 Equipment as covered by this outline shall:a) Be so constructed as to provide for compliance with the rules for installation and use of suchequipment as given in the National Electri

24、cal Code, ANSI/NFPA 70; andb) Employ materials that are acceptable for the particular use.AUGUST 30, 2017 UL 347D 5UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL6 Enclosures6.1 Equipment shall comply with the requirements in Clause 5.102 of

25、the Standard for Medium-VoltageAC Contactors, Controllers, and Control Centers, UL 347, sixth edition.7 Grounding and Bonding7.1 The grounding and bonding requirements in Clause 5.3 of UL 347 apply.8 Protective Devices8.1 Equipment shall be provided with the following protective features:a) Control-

26、circuit transformers shall be provided with primary and secondary fuses. Instrumentpotential transformers shall be provided with primary fuses.b) Medium voltage fuses in each phase to automatically interrupt overload and fault currents inthe stator circuit and within the equipment itself.8.2 Equipme

27、nt shall be arranged such that when the EPS isolating means is open, all high-voltage fuseswill be readily accessible, so that they may be replaced without a person touching part energized from theEPS. The electrical arrangement shall be such that when the EPS isolating means is open, all fusetermin

28、als will be isolated from the EPS. See Clause 11 for interlocking requirements.8.3 Other than as noted in 8.4, the equipment shall be marked in accordance with 33.2 to indicate thatfuses may be energized by the wind turbine output circuit.8.4 The requirements of 8.3 do not apply if the equipment is

29、provided with isolating means for both theEPS and the wind turbine output circuit, and both these isolating means are mechanically interlocked toprevent access to the fuses if either isolating means is closed.8.5 If the design of the equipment is such that a low-voltage control circuit fuse is acces

30、sible with thecontrol circuit energized, a warning marking shall be provided in the vicinity of the fuseholder.8.6 When provided, an open-phase protective device shall operate upon the loss of power in oneconductor of the EPS, to cause and maintain the interruption of power in all of the circuit. Co

31、nformanceshall be determined by testing in accordance with the single phasing test of the Standard forMedium-Voltage Power Conversion Equipment, UL 347A.NOTE: This open-phase protection is not intended to provide the open phase protection described in theIEEE Standard Conformance Test Procedures for

32、 Equipment Interconnecting Distributed Resources withElectric Power Systems, IEEE 1547.1.8.7 Equipment shall be provided with a means to disconnect the EPS upon receiving a shutdown signalfrom the wind turbine control system. The means may be an electrical operator on the EPS isolatingmeans required

33、 by 9.1, or it may be a separate medium voltage contactor in combination with a manuallyoperated isolating means complying with 9.1.AUGUST 30, 2017UL 347D6UL COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL NOT AUTHORIZED FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION ORDISTRIBUTION WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM UL8.8 Equipment incorporating solid state

34、switching elements in the main circuit shall be provided with anelectromechanical contactor which opens the main circuit when the equipment is in the off or stoppedposition.8.9 If solid state switching elements are provided in the main circuit, the equipment shall be provided withthermal sensing dev

35、ices in each pole that detect an overtemperature and operate to de-energize the maincircuit by de-energizing one or more magnetically operated devices.9 Isolating Means9.1 The equipment shall be provided with an isolating means that operates to isolate the equipment fromthe EPS. The isolating means

36、requirements in Clause 5.202 of UL 347 apply to this isolating means.9.2 Other than as noted in 9.3, in addition to the required isolating means for the EPS, the equipmentshall be provided with a method to isolate the equipment from the wind turbine output circuit. This methodshall be one of the fol

37、lowing:a) An isolation means for the wind turbine output circuit, located within the equipment, inaddition to the EPS isolating means. This isolation means shall comply with the requirements inClause 5.202 of UL 347, orb) An actuating switch that initiates the manual shutdown procedure of the wind t

38、urbine inaccordance with UL 6141. The equipment shall be marked in accordance with 33.4.9.3 Equipment is not required to have an isolating means for the wind turbine output circuit when markedin accordance with 33.3.10 Interlocking10.1 Isolating means interlocks10.1.1 Interlocks shall be provided by

39、 mechanical means to prevent the EPS isolating means from beingopened or closed unless all line contactors are open. It shall also prevent the line contactors from beingclosed, unless the EPS isolating means is either in the closed position or separated by the isolatingdistance.10.1.2 If the equipme

41、10.2 Drawout element interlocks10.2.1 In addition to the requirements of 10.1, equipment using a drawout element shall be provided withmechanical interlocks that will:a) Positively lock the drawout element in the housing when the primary disconnecting devicesare in their fully closed or fully connec

42、ted position;b) Discharge or block stored-energy devices prior to complete removal of the drawout element;andc) Prevent contact with medium-voltage live parts as determined by the rod entry test in Clause6.207 of UL 347 with the drawout element in the test position and with the drawout elementremove

43、d from the cubicle.NOTE: Means to padlock a shutter assembly in a closed position may be used to meet this requirementof 10.2.1(c) when the drawout element is removed from the cubicle.10.2.2 In addition to the requirements of Clause 10.2.1, equipment using a drawout element that is usedas the isolat

44、ing means shall be provided with an automatic shutter assembly or the equivalent that:a) Is maintained in the closed position in a manner that prevents inadvertent opening. Openingof the shutter shall require a degree of difficulty involving a minimum of two separate anddistinct operations. Turning

45、a knob, or moving a lever, or removing a single bolt, or the like,shall not be considered to provide the required degree of difficulty; andb) Complies with the shutter integrity test described in Clause 6.206 of UL 347.10.2.3 When the sum of the full load ratings of the CPT and any other connected t

46、ransformers exceedsthe interrupting capacity of the isolating means, electrical interlocks shall be provided to disconnectsecondary loads of CPTs before the isolating means can be opened (see Clause 6.201 of UL 347).10.3 Door interlocks10.3.1 Mechanical door interlocks shall be provided to meet thes

47、e requirements:a) Interlocks shall prevent the opening of a door to a medium-voltage compartment when theEPS isolating means is closed.b) Interlocks shall prevent the isolating means from being closed when the door of any medium-voltage compartment of the equipment is open.c) When equipment is provi

48、ded with a wind turbine output circuit isolating means, interlocksshall be provided to prevent opening of a door to a medium-voltage compartment when thewind turbine output circuit isolating means is closed, and to prevent closing of the wind turbineoutput circuit isolating means when a door to a me
