37、 regarding environmental conditions under which the epoxy mortar shall be applied and cured, unless otherwise specified.PART 2PRODUCTS2.1Materials2.1.1 Epoxy resin systemUse ASTM C881/C881M Type III epoxy-resin bonding system, unless otherwise speci-fied. Curing temperature requirements (class) and
38、viscosity (grade), as well as special requirements regarding either the components or the final system, shall be appropriate for specified project conditions.2.1.2 Fine aggregateUse fine aggregate that conforms to the requirements of the epoxy resin system manufacturer.2.1.3 Epoxy mortarThe combined
39、 epoxy resin system and fine aggregate, in ratios recommended by the epoxy resin system manufacturer, shall have a compressive strength of at least 5000 psi, unless otherwise specified, when tested in accordance with ASTM C579.2.1.4 CompatibilityMaterials shall be compatible with materials or relate
40、d Work with which they come into contact.PART 3EXECUTION3.1Preparation3.1.1 Preparation of concrete surfaces3.1.1.1 Mechanical abrasionConcrete surfaces to which epoxy mortar is to be applied shall be newly prepared concrete free of loose and unsound materials. Prepare surfaces according to one of t
41、he following, unless other-wise specified: shotblasting, sandblasting, scarifying, or waterblasting.3.2Inspection of surface prior to epoxy mortar application3.2.1 Inspect all prepared concrete surfaces prior to appli-cation of epoxy mortar.3.2.2 Prepared surfaces shall be sound concrete that exhibi
42、ts a minimum average pull-off strength of 250 psi, unless otherwise specified, using the procedure described in ASTM C1583/C1583M, except that the tensile adhe-sion evaluation shall not be performed at concrete surface temperatures above 80F. Contact the Architect/Engineer to determine test location
43、s.3.2.3 Surface shall be free of deleterious materials such as laitance, curing compounds, dust, dirt, oil, and incom-patible materials from previous repairs. Materials resulting from surface preparation shall be removed. Any limitations on the removal of preparation materials shall be as specified
44、in Contract Documents.3.2.4 At the time of installation, surface temperature of the concrete shall be at least 40F, unless otherwise specified, for ASTM C881/C881M Classes A and B multi-component epoxy adhesives to permit wetting of concrete surface by epoxy mortar. Surface temperature shall be at l
45、east 60F for ASTM C881/C881M Class C multi-component epoxy adhesives.3.2.5 All concrete surfaces shall not exceed saturated surface-dry conditions at the time of installation, unless otherwise specified.3.3Epoxy mortar mixtures3.3.1 Condition epoxy mortar components to be at a temperature between 60
46、 and 100F, unless otherwise recom-mended by manufacturer.3.3.2 Mix epoxy mortar components, including fine aggre-gate, as recommended by the epoxy resin system manufac-turer, in a clean container.3.3.3 Blend epoxy mortar components with a mechanical mixer to a uniform and homogeneous mixture. Mix sm
47、all batches (up to 1 quart) by use of spatulas, palette knives, or similar devices.3.4Epoxy mortar application3.4.1 Apply epoxy mortar to concrete surface with trowel or screed. Thickness shall be within the limits recommended by the epoxy resin system manufacturer.3.4.2 Work epoxy mortar into place
48、 and consolidate so that all contact surfaces are wet by the epoxy mortar.3.4.3 Finish surface of epoxy mortar to texture required for the specific application.3.4.4 Upon completion of finishing operations, allow epoxy mortar to cure in accordance with epoxy resin system manufacturers recommendation
49、s.3.5Field quality control3.5.1 Test in accordance with ASTM C1583/C1583M. An evaluation shall be the average of three tests within the test location and have a minimum average pull-off strength of 250 psi, unless otherwise specified. Contact Architect/Engi-neer to determine test locations.3.5.2 If the test results do not meet the required average pull-off strength, check the surface preparation procedures and the manufacturers batching, mixing, placing, and curing requirements. Repeat the tests within the pre
