Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements, test methods,assembly, and methods of marking for chlorinated poly(vinylchloride) plastic hot- and cold-water distribution system com-ponents made in one standard

4、 dimension ratio and intended forwater service up to and including 180 F (82 C). Thesecomponents comprise pipe and tubing, socket-type fittings,street fittings, plastic-to-metal transition fittings, solventcements, and adhesives. Requirements and methods of test areincluded for materials, workmanshi

5、p, dimensions andtolerances, hydrostatic sustained pressure strength, and ther-mocycling resistance. The components covered by this speci-fication are intended for use in residential and commercial, hotand cold, potable water distribution systems.1.2 The products covered by this specification are in

6、tendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their pr

7、oducts.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 1Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safteyhazards should a system fail for any reason.1.3

8、The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare t

9、o be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.NOTE 2Suggested hydrostatic design stresses and hydr

36、in. 50 mm.4.2 Transition FittingsThis specification classifies transi-tion fittings intended for use up to and including 180 F 82 Cas CPVC-180 F on the basis of resistance to failure bythermocycling.4.3 Solvent Cements and AdhesivesThis specificationclassifies solvent cements and adhesives meeting t

37、he require-ments contained herein as CPVC Solvent Cement or CPVCAdhesive.NOTE 3This specification does not include requirements for pipefittings intended to be used to vent combustion gases. UL 1738 is astandard that does include specific testing and marking requirements forflue gas venting products

Materials5.1 Basic Materials DescriptionChlorinated poly(vinylchloride) plastics used to make pipe, tubing, and fittingsmeeting the requirements of this specification are categorizedby two criteria; namely, basic short-term properties, andlong-term hydrostatic strength. Sections

39、5.1.1 and 5.1.2 respec-tively define these categories.5.1.1 Basic Short-Term PropertiesThis specification cov-ers CPVC 41 pipe, tubing, and fittings made from plasticmaterials meeting the mechanical strength, heat resistance,flammability, and chemical resistance requirements for CPVC23447 in Specifi

40、cation D1784.NOTE 4CPVC 23447 was formerly designated as CPVC Type IVGrade 1, and is herein designated as CPVC 41. This is also used inmarking pipe, tubing, or fittings.5.1.2 Long-Term Hydrostatic StrengthThis specificationcovers CPVC 41 pipe, tubing, and fittings which are furtherdefined by hydrost

41、atic design stress as CPVC 4120. Pipe andtubing are so defined on the basis of long-term hydrostaticstrength tests and are made from compounds having anestablished 180 F 82 C hydrostatic design stress of 500 psi3.45 MPa or greater in accordance with Test Method D2837.Fittings are so defined by hydro

42、static sustained pressure testson fitting assemblies, required by this specification (see 6.2),based on the hydrostatic strength of the corresponding pipe ortubing.NOTE 5No hydrostatic design stress, as such, exists for fittings untilsuch time as long-term hydrostatic strength test methods for fitti

43、ngs aredeveloped.5.2 The PEX fitting ends of CPVC to PEX transition fittingsshall meet the material and dimensional requirements of thecorresponding PEX fitting standard.5.3 The PERT fitting ends of CPVC to PERT transitionfittings shall meet the material and dimensional requirementsof the correspond

44、ing PERT fitting standard.5.4 Rework MaterialClean rework plastic material gener-ated from the manufacturers own plastic tube or fittingproduction may be used by the same manufacturer provided thepipe, tubing, or fittings meet all the requirements of thisspecification.6. Requirements for Pipe, Tubin

45、g and Fittings6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 General:6.1.1.1 Wall MinimumsTable 1 and Table 2 show wallthickness minimums. Calculated SDR 11 fitting wall thick-nesses that fall below 0.102 in. 2.59 mm for the fitting socketbottom, or 0.128 in. 3.25 mm for the fitting body, shall bearbitrarily i

46、ncreased to these values.6.1.1.2 Interference FitThe diameters and tolerances inTable 1 and Table 2 provide for socket-type joints having aninterference fit based on the major diameter of pipe and tubinghaving a degree of out-of-roundness.6.1.1.3 Out-of-RoundnessThe maximum out-of-roundness requirem

47、ents shown in Table 1 and Table 2 for pipe,tubing, and fittings apply to the average measured diameter.NOTE 6Example: In the 1-in. 25 mm tubing size, if the measuredaverage tubing diameter was 1.123 in. 28.52 mm, then the extrememeasured diameters due to ovality could be 1.129 in. 28.68 mmmaximum an
