1、Designation: D6287 17Standard Practice forCutting Film and Sheeting Test Specimens1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D6287; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in pa

Scope*1.1 This practice covers equipment and techniques forcutting film and sheeting specimens for testing.2The speci-mens are nick-free, non-stretched and

The values given in parentheses are for informationonly.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standar

This practice describesthree techniques for preparing samples with straight, clean, parallel edges with no visible imperfections.NOTE 2After cutting, each specimen should be exam

On a periodic basisspecimen edge quality should be evaluated by microscopic examination. To determine when cutting blades need to be replaced or sharpened, acontrol chart of tensile strength and percent elongation at break (see TestMetho

Apparatus and Materials4.1 Procedure AA hand rotatable drum cutter (Fig. 1)containing a 12.7 cm (5 in.) diameter drum with grooves at12.7 mm (

The cuttercuts individual strips of a particular sample width.4.3 Procedure CDies with

12、 replacable razor-blade cuttersare available in many different specimen configurations. Thedies are equipped with a spring-loaded mechanism that allowseasy specimen removal. These dies are mounted on either amanual or pneumatic press and provide easy replacement ofworn cutting elements.4.4 Scissors.

17、 Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.15.1.1 Cut film or sheeting to approximately 30 by 30 cm (12by 12 in.) or desired size within these dimensions. It isrecommended to cut only an individual (single) sheet of film.5.1.2 Mark

18、or number all samples as to identity, directionwith respect to material flow, etc.5.1.3 Place sample on work surface in desired direction andplace a strip of tape on the sample edge with half the width ofthe tape overlapping the edge to enable the tape to adhere to thedrum of the cutter.5.1.4 Remove

19、 the taped sample from the work surface andplace taped edge on the drum of the cutter below the bladeholder allowing the sample to lie across the top of the cutter.NOTE 3Line the sample up precisely to ensure specimens are cut inthe desired direction of material flow.5.1.5 Turn the handle until the

20、sample falls onto cutterdrum. Continue to turn the drum and smooth the sample on thedrum.5.1.6 Tape the free corners of sample if necessary.5.1.7 Align tape with cutter blades.5.1.8 Pull blade knob to drop blades just in front of tape.5.1.9 Rotate the drum with the drum handle.5.1.10 Raise blades by

21、 lifting the front edge of the bladeholder until a click is heard.5.1.11 Turn drum handle until strips fall away from drum.5.1.12 Remove strips and place on sheets of paper withproper identification.5.2 Procedure B:5.2.1 Mark or number all samples as to identity, directionwith respect to material fl

25、lene or polypropylene sheets or cardboard (two tothree mm in thickness) have been found to be satisfactory.5.3.5 Place the sample on the covered cutting platformensuring that there are no creases. If necessary, the edges canbe taped to the platform to keep the sample flat.5.3.6 Activate the cutter (
