Scope*1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for

3、 cop-per nickel, ferro copper, phosphor copper, and silicon coppermaster alloys in ingot, shot, and waffle form to be used asaddition agents for cast and wrought alloys.1.2 UnitsValues stated in inch-pound units are to beregarded as standard. Ordering Information4.1 Include the following information when placing ordersfor product under this specification, as applicable:4.1.1 ASTM designati

9、on and year of issue (for exampleB644 XX).4.1.2 Alloy number and letter; generic name (Table 1),4.1.3 Form; size, weight, screen distribution,4.1.4 Quantity or total weight; each form, size, weight,screen distribution.5. Material and Manufacture5.1 Material:5.1.1 Any material may be used which, when

10、 melted, willform an alloy of the required composition.5.2 Manufacture:5.2.1 Any manufacturing process may be used that willyield a product uniform in composition and free of defects ofa nature that would render the product unsuitable for theintended application.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The produc

11、t in final form shall conform to the require-ments prescribed in Table 1 for the specified alloy.6.1.1 These specification limits do not preclude the presenceof other elements. Limits may be established and analysisrequired for unnamed elements by agreement between themanufacturer and the purchaser.

Sampling7.1 The inspection lot size, portion size, and selection ofportion pieces shall be as follows:7.1.1 Lot SizeAn inspection lot shall consist of all productfrom a single heat.7.1.2 Portion Size:

17、7.1.2.1 Ingot and ShotThe portion size shall be not lessthan 1 ingot.7.1.2.2 Shot and WaffleThe portion size for product in shotor waffle form shall be not less than 1 lb (0.453 kg) and shallbe selected to consist of an average of all sizes of product in thelot.7.1.3 Selection of Portion PiecesThe i

18、ndividual piecesshall be randomly selected.7.2 Chemical Analysis:7.2.1 The sample for chemical analysis shall be taken fromthe pieces selected in 7.1.2 in accordance with Practice E255.The minimum weight of the composite sample shall be 150 g.7.2.2 Instead of sampling in accordance with Practice E25

19、5,the manufacturer shall have the option of sampling during thepouring of the product. At least two samples shall be taken foreach lot poured from the same source of molten metal.7.2.2.1 When the manufacturer determines chemical com-position during the course of manufacture, sampling of thefinished

20、product is not required.8. Number of Tests and Retests8.1 Tests:8.1.1 Chemical AnalysisComposition shall be determinedas the average of results from at least two replicate determi-nations for each element specified in Table 1 for the specifiedalloy.8.2 Retests:8.2.1 Chemical Analysis:8.2.1.1 When re

21、quested by the manufacturer or supplier, aretest shall be permitted should test results obtained by thepurchaser fail to conform with the requirements of Table 1 forthe specified alloy.8.2.1.2 The retest shall be as directed in 8.1 except thenumber of replicate determinations shall be twice that nor

22、mallyrequired by this specification.All determinations shall conformto specification requirements. Failure to comply shall be causefor lot rejection.9. Specimen Preparation9.1 Chemical CompositionPreparation of the analyticalspecimen shall be the responsibility of the reporting laboratory.10. Test M

23、ethods10.1 Test methods used for quality control or productioncontrol, or both, for the determination of conformance tochemical compositional requirements are discretionary.10.1.1 Test methods used for obtaining data for the prepa-ration of certification or test report shall be made available tothe

Significance of Numerical Limits11.1 For purposes of determining compliance with thespec

30、ified limits for chemical composition an observed orcalculated value shall be rounded as indicated in accordancewith the Rounding method of Practice E29.Property Rounded Unit for Observed or Calculated ValueChemical Composition Nearest unit in the last right-hand significant digitused in expressing

31、the limiting value12. Inspection12.1 The manufacturer shall inspect and make tests neces-sary to verify that the product furnished conforms to thespecified requirements.13. Rejection and Rehearing13.1 Rejection:13.1.1 Product that fails to conform to the specificationrequirements of this specificati

32、on when inspected or tested bythe purchaser or purchasers agent shall be subject to rejection.13.1.2 Rejection shall be reported to the manufacturer, orsupplier, promptly. In addition, a written notification of rejec-tion shall follow.13.1.3 In case of dissatisfaction with results of the test uponwh

33、ich rejection is based, the manufacturer, or supplier, shallhave the option to make claim for a rehearing.13.2 Rehearing:13.2.1 As a result of product rejection, the manufacturer orsupplier shall have the option to make claim for a retest to beconducted by the manufacturer, or supplier, and the purc

34、haser.13.2.2 The portion selected for sampling shall be twice thatrequired in 7.1.2. Samples of the rejected product shall betaken in accordance with this specification and the compositesample shall be subject to test by both parties using the testmethod(s) specified in this specification, or, alter

35、natively, uponagreement by both parties, an independent laboratory may beselected for the test(s) using the test method(s) specified in thisspecification.14. Certification14.1 The purchaser shall be furnished certification thatsamples representing each lot have been either tested orinspected as dire

36、cted in this specification and the requirementshave been met.15. Test Report (Foundry)15.1 A report of the test results shall be furnished.16. Packaging and Package Marking16.1 Packaging:16.1.1 The material shall be packaged in sound containers,or shipped in bulk, in such a manner that none of the p

37、roductis lost or contaminated in shipment.16.2 Package Marking:16.2.1 When the shipment is made in bulk, it shall beaccompanied by appropriate identification showing thematerial, grade designation, ASTM designation, size, lotnumber, and the name, brand, or trademark of the manufac-turer.16.2.2 When

38、the shipment is made in containers, each shallbe marked either on the container or on a label or on a tagattached thereto. The marking shall show the material, gradedesignation,ASTM designation, size, heat identification, gross,tare, and net weight, and the name, brand, or trademark of themanufactur
