8、2 : 1996 1 Scope This standard specifies a method of verifying that the locking wire holes in an element of connection are of sufficient strength to meet normal usage. It shall be used together with EN 2591. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference pro

EN 2591 Aerospace series - Elements of electrical and optical connection - Test methods - General 3 Preparation of specimens 3.1 The specimen shall be coupled to a connector or simulation the
11、reof, which in turn shall be mounted on a rigid mounting plate. Locking wire as specified in 5, or in the technical specification, shall be threaded through a locking wire hole and secured to permit the application of an axial load. When there are several holes the one which shows the most unfavoura
12、ble mechanical strength conditions shall be tested. 3.2 - material and gauge of the locking wire, if other than as specified in 5.1; - axial load if other than as specified in 5.1. Unless specified in the technical specification the following details shall be stated 4 Apparatus A suitable means of m
13、easuring an applied axial load. 5 Method 5.1 An axial load of (133 k 0,5) N shall be applied perpendicular to the axis of the hole using a stainless steel wire 0,5 mm diameter (see figure 1). It shall be increased steadily until the specified value is reached ; its rate of application shall not exce
14、ed 45 N/s. It shall be maintained for 5 min. The specimen shall not be damaged by the test wire .e. no tearing open of the material from the bore of the hole to the outer surface of the component. Small deformations of the knife edge are permissible.
