15、ed by the material standard or order, the method of production shall be at the option of the manufacturer. Unless otherwise specified by the material standard or order, products shall be supplied in the descaled or machined condition. Any metallurgical defects such as cracks, burrs, etc., shall be r
16、emoved from the edges and ends of the product by a method agreed between manufacturer and purchaser. Straightening and stress relieving operations shall not cause any defects prejudicial to the intended use. 4 Inspection and testing 4.1 Non-destructive tests 4.1 .l Dimensions and tolerances Dimensio
17、ns shall conform to the requirements of the order. Tolerances shall conform to the relevant dimensional standard stated by the material standard or order. The frequency of examination adopted by the manufacturer shall be sufficient to enable him to certify compliance with the requirements. 4.1.2 Int
18、ernal defects When requirsd by the material standard or order, products shall be ultrasonically tested in accordance with EN 2003-8. Bar 12 mm in diameter or minor sectional dimension shall be ultrasonically tested in the delivery condition. Bar with dimensions I 12 mm shall be tested at an intermed
19、iate stage of manufacture. For section the test method and area to be checked shall be stated on the order. Unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser, each bar or section shall be 1 O0 % tested. The level of acceptance for bars 12 mm 5 D I 225 mm shall be class 5 (1,2 mm FBH
20、) in accordance with EN 2003-8, unless otherwise specified by the material standard or order. 4.1.3 External defects 4.1 3.1 Visual examination Bar and section shall be examined for surface defects in the delivery condition by visual inspection after etching. Each bar or section shall be 100 % inspe
21、cted. Bar and section shall be clean and free from harmful defects (such as cracks, laps, seams, segregations or inclusions). The presence of surface segregation or inclusions shall require further investigation by a method agreed between the manufacturer and purchaser. Copyright Association Europee

23、994 Location of test piece 4.1.3.2 Dye penetrant inspection D 75 Bar for manufacture of fasteners shall be penetrant tested after etching in accordance with EN 2002-16. Transverse (TI or Mid radius Longitudinal (LI Bar for machining and section shall be penetrant tested after etching in accordance w
24、ith EN 2002-16, when required by the material standard or order. When penetrant testing is required by the material standard or order : - products supplied in the ground condition shall be penetrant tested before final grinding; - each bar or section shall be 100 % tested; - products shall be free f
25、rom harmful defects (such as cracks, laps, seams, etc). NOTE : Eddy current based on EN 2002-20 may also be used as an alternative test. 4.1.3.3 Surface dressing Local dressing may be carried out by the manufacturer provided the dimensions of the product remain within the tolerance limits and within
26、 the conditions agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser . Local dressing shall not affect the sensitivity of any ultrasonic test which may be required. The dressed area shall be reinspected to verify that defects have been removed. 4.2 Mechanical tests When required by the material standar
27、d or order, mechanical testing shall be carried out in accordance with 4.2.1 to 4.2.3. Unless otherwise required by the material standard or order, the location and orientation of test pieces shall be as defined in table 1. 28、 One end All 10 % One end 4.2.2 Creep and creep rupture tests Testing shall be carried out in accordance with EN 2002-5. Tests shall be performed at a frequency of one per batch. 4.2.3 Shear tests Testing shall be carried out in accordance with EN 3238. Tests shall be performed at a frequency of one
29、 per batch. 4.3 Metallographic examination 4.3.1 Macrostructure When required by the material standard or order, samples from bar and section shall be etched and visually examined in accordance with EN 2954-1. Tests shall be performed at the following frequency : A transverse slice shall be selected
30、 at a convenient stage in manufacture from locations corresponding to the top and bottom end of each ingot. In addition, transverse samples shall subsequently be taken from finished bars and sections at the frequency given in table 2. Table 2 Alternatively, at the option of the manufacturer, transve
31、rse samples shall be taken from each end of each manufactured product prior to cutting to length. The level of acceptance shall meet the requirements of the material standard. If any sample fails to meet the requirements, the corresponding end of the bar or section may be cut back and retested. If s
32、amples were originally selected at a frequency of less than 100 %, all the remaining bars shall be tested. 4.3.2 Microstructure When required by the material standard or order, the samples from bar and section shall be etched and examined in accordance with EN 31 14-1. Unless otherwise specified by
33、the material standard, the location and frequency of micrographic test pieces for bars and section shall be as defined in table 3. 35、section made from a + - titanium alloys shall show a globular-lamellar microstructure, resulting from alpha-beta processing. The microstructure shall meet the requirements of the material standard or order. 4.3.3 Grain size When required by the material standard or order, grain size shall be determi
36、ned in accordance with EN 2002-8. At least two of the samples macro etched in accordance with 4.3.1 shall be selected. The samples shall be from those exhibiting the coarsest grain size when macrographically examined. Longitudinal micro sections shall be prepared from each selected sample and the gr
37、ain size determined. The results shall meet the requirements of the material standard or order. 4.3.4 Primary-a content When required by the material standard or order, the primary-a content shall be determined in accordance with EN 3683. Unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and the purc
38、haser, at least one sample per batch shall be tested. The sample shall be taken from the centre of the product. The results shall meet the requirements of the material standard or order. 4.3.5 -transus temperature When required by the material standard or order, the -transus temperature shall be det
39、ermined in accordance with EN 3684. Unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and purchaser, at least two samples per ingot, representing top and bottom of the ingot, shall be used for the determination. The -transus temperature shall meet the requirements of the material standard or order. 4
40、.3.6 Surface contamination When required by the material standard or order, the extent of surface contamination shall be determined in accordance with EN 2003-9. Samples cut from bar and section shall be free from brittle, oxygen rich diffusion zones which adversely affect the machinability. Copyrig

42、e following identification marking : - material standard number; - delivery condition code; - batch number; - manufacturers name and, where appropriate, identity of the plant; - inspectors stamp. Bar and section 20 mm diameter or minor cross section shall be bundled and a durable label securely atta
43、ched bearing the identification marking. For bar and section 2 20 mm diameter, at least the material standard number, the batch number and the inspectors stamp shall be hard stamped on one end of each product. The method of providing the remaining markings shall be at the option of the manufacturer.
