3、ansioninsert fittings with compression sleeve suitable for use withcross-linked polyethylene PEX plastic tubing in38,12,58,34 ,and 1in. and larger nominal diameters that meet the require-ments of Specifications F876 and F877. These fittings areintended for use in 100 psi (689.5 kPa) cold and hot wat

4、erdistributions systems operating at temperatures up to andincluding 180 F (82C). Included are the requirements formaterials, workmanship, dimensions, and markings to be usedon the fittings and compression sleeves1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values giv

General Requirements6.1 The fo

19、llowing sections of Specification F877 constitutea part of this specification:6.1.1 Requirements,6.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.3 Retest and Rejection6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1, above, appears in this specification, itcontains additional requirements

20、that supplement those appear-ing in F877.6.3 DimensionsRandomly selected fitting or fittings shallbe used to determine dimensions. Measurements shall be madein accordance with Test Method D2122. Determine the diam-eters by making measurements at four points spaced approxi-mately 45 apart around the

21、circumference. Inspection andgauging of solder joint ends shall be in accordance with ANSIB16.18, ANSI B16.22, or MSS SP-104. Inspection and gaug-ing of taper pipe threads shall be in accordance with ANSI/ASME G1.20.1. All fittings that will be subjected to secondaryprocesses of mechanical marking t

22、hat affect their dimensionaltolerances shall be tested in their final marked configuration.7. 28、 shall beright-hand conforming to ASME B 1.20.1. They shall be taperthreads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The sealing, mating and threaded surfaces of the fit-ting(s) shall be smooth and free of foreign material. The fittingwalls shall be free of cracks, holes, blisters, voids, fore

29、igninclusions, or other defects that are visible to the unmagnifiedeye and that may affect the wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 JointsMechanical Cold Expansion Insert Fittings withCompression Sleeve shall be joined to the PEX tubing bydrawing a compression sleeve over the PEX tubing that hasbeen cold e

30、xpanded and into which the fitting has beeninserted. This action forces the tubing into annular spacesformed by ribs on the fitting. Fittings and compression sleevesshall meet the dimensional tolerances of this Specification.PEX tubing shall meet the requirements of Specification F876or F877.Standar

34、imensions and Tolerances of Fittings and Compression SleevesF1865 0939.1.1 Solder Joints Soldering of fittings joints shall becompleted prior to installation of the PEX tubing. Excessiveheat from the soldering operation will damage the PEX tubing.9.2 Assembly ProcedureTo affix the mechanical cold ex

35、-pansion insert fitting with compression sleeve to the PEXtubing, the procedure shall be as follows: Cut the tubing squareusing a cutter designed for plastic tubing. Inspect the end forburrs or foreign debris. Slide the compression sleeve onto thetubing at least 1 in. (25 mm) beyond the end of the t

36、ube. Insertthe properly sized expansion tool (see Note 1) fully into thetubing until the end of the tube meets the stop on the tool.Expand the tubing to the fullest reach of the tool. The fullestreach of the tool shall not expand the inside diameter of thetubing more than 0.20 in. (5.0 mm) for sizes

37、 up to58 in.nominal and 0.24 in. (6.0 mm) for larger sizes up to 1 in. Insertthe fitting into the expanded tube. Place the joining tool ontothe fitting assembly in accordance with the tool manufacturersinstructions (see Note 1). Operate the joining tool to slide thecompression sleeve over the tubing

38、 and until it reaches the stopon the fitting. Remove the joining tool. Compression sleevesthat are damaged in any way shall not be re-used.NOTE 1Tool manufacturers provide a variety of expansion tools andjoining tools with adapters for use on the various fittings configurationsand sizes. These tools

39、 may utilize mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, orpneumatic devices to actuate their mechanisms. One inch sizes may notrequire expansion.10. Quality Assurance10.1 When the product or product packing is marked withtheASTM designation F1865, the manufacturer affirms that theproduct was manufactured, i

40、nspected, sampled, and tested inaccordance with this specification, and has been found to meetthe requirements of this specification.11. Product Marking11.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that it remains legible afterinstallation and inspection.11.2 Co

41、ntent of Marking:11.2.1 Marking on fittings shall include manufacturersname or trademark, or some other identifying mark. Additionalmarking shall includeASTM standard number and PEX, if sizepermits.11.2.1.1 Where recessed marking is used on fittings, careshall be taken to see that in no case shall t

42、he marking causecracks or reduce the wall thickness below the minimumspecified.11.2.2 Marking on packaging shall include manufacturersname, fitting size, and ASTM F1865.11.2.3 Markings on compression sleeves shall includemanufacturers trademark or some other identifying mark andASTM F1865.11.3 When

43、the product is marked with this ASTM designa-tion ASTM F1865, the manufacturer affirms that the productwas manufactured, inspected, sampled, and tested in accor-dance with this specification and has been found to meet therequirements of this specification.12. Potable Water Requirements Products intended

45、forthe transport of potable water shall be evaluated, tested, andcertified for conformance with ANSI/NSF Standard No. 61 orthe health effects portion of NSF Standard No. 14 by anacceptable certifying organization when required by the regu-latory authority having jurisdiction.SUMMARY OF CHANGESCommit
