AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD Approval of an American National Standard requires review by ANSI that the requirements for due process, consensus, and other criteria for approval have been met by the standards develop

、er. Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSI Board of Standards Review, substantial agreement has been reached by directly and materially affected interests. Substantial agreement means much more than a simple majority, but not necessarily unanimity. Consensus requires that all vie

、ws and objections be considered, and that a concerted effort be made towards their resolution. The use of American National Standards is completely voluntary; their existence does not in any respect preclude anyone, whether he has approved the standards or not, from manufacturing, marketing, purchas

、d as described in this Section with any equipment and circuit packs intended for the specific model or simulated heat loads that will be equivalent to the worst case heat load for the series of models. All feeder and support interfaces servicing the equipment shall be connected and active, or approp

、riately terminated, if they contribute to the heat dissipation. ATIS energy efficiency for telecommunications equipment standard (ATIS-0600015, Methodology for Measurement and Reporting-General Requirements) and its supplemental standards shall be used for test configuration. For equipment types not

、 covered by the ATIS energy efficiency telecommunications equipment standard (ATIS-0600015 documents), the equipment shall be tested based on the manufacturers defined normal operating state. If it can be demonstrated that a particular interface(s) does not contribute to the heat dissipation of the

、equipment, these interfaces are not required to be terminated or exercised (alarm interfaces, RS232, etc.). 4.2 Test Conditions 4.2.1 Temperature Measurements shall be made at an effective temperature of 27C (80.6F). The data reported for the EUT shall represent input power expected when the EUT is

、operating in a simulated environment of 27C (80.6F). To capture this potential higher energy consumption and/or different airflow characteristics, one of the following methods shall be used: Test in a thermally controlled environment at 27C, -0C +3C (80.6F, -0F + 5.4F). Or, test in a thermally contr

、olled environment that is between 23C (73.4F) and 27C (80.6F). If this method is to be used, perform the following: o If fans are configurable, the speed setting of the fans should be representative of 27C (80.6F) at sea level. o If fans are not configurable, a fan speed power adjustment shall be ad

、ded to the measured system power to compensate for the difference in power consumption of the fans operating at less than 27C (80.6F) compared to the fans operating at 27C (80.6F). With a modular system, the power from the fans may be evaluated once and incorporated in the data matrix. NOTE - Non-Co

、nfigurable adjustments shall be identified within the test report. o If cooling is provided by other than fans (e.g., thermo-electric cooling), or if component efficiency or other operating parameters are affected by the test temperature other than 27C (80.6F), then the manufacturer shall provide pr

、ocedures on how to compensate for any differences in heat dissipation. The testing lab shall incorporate these procedures into the test plan. If these procedures are not feasible, then the test shall be performed in a thermally controlled environment of 27C (80.6F). ATIS-0600010.03.2011 4 o Measured

、 exhaust temperature data shall be adjusted to compensate for the delta between the controlled environment temperature and 27C (80.6F). This assumes an effective linear temperature compensation. 4.2.2 Humidity The equipment shall be evaluated at a relative humidity of 30% to 75%. 4.2.3 Barometric Pr

、essure The equipment shall be evaluated at a barometric pressure between 102 and 80kPa. This corresponds to typical barometric pressure between altitudes of 60m (197ft) below sea level to 1829m (6000ft) above sea level. 4.2.4 DC Powered Equipment Voltage The equipment shall be evaluated at a DC volt

、age of 53V 1V. (This level is consistent with the voltage defined in ATIS-0600315.2007 for a -48Vdc powering system.) Unless otherwise specified in a supplemental standard to this General Requirement Standard, equipment using nominal DC voltages other than -48Vdc shall be evaluated at 2% of the spec

、ified voltage. Where applicable, the typical steady state voltage as defined in ATIS-0600315.2007 shall be used. 4.2.5 AC Powered Equipment Voltage The equipment shall be evaluated with a source providing the conditions found in Table 1 of ANSI C84.1, Voltage Range A. 4.3 Test Data Points Five data

、points shall be provided at a normalized 27C (80.6F) level with the following varying traffic loads: 0% (sleep) (measured load) 25% (idle) (measured load) 50% (nominal) (measured load) 75% (typical maximum) (measured or calculated load) 100% (maximum) (measured or calculated load) For other than 100

、%, load shall be evenly spread throughout the system. Optionally, a sixth measurement may be added by the manufacturer if the nominal operating range is not included above. 5 HEAT DISSIPATION MEASUREMENT 5.1 General Heat dissipation data (in Watts) of the equipment shall be provided for those end-us

、ers managing cooling requirements in telecommunications facilities. Heat dissipation data (in Watts) shall be provided ATIS-0600010.03.2011 5 for the equipment under operation at the five steady state continuous duty conditions. See Section 4.1, Test Configuration. 5.2 Power Measurement Equipment Ac

、curate measurement of power consumption by a given piece of equipment is critical in determining the overall heat dissipation for that product. In cases where the current measurement will be less than 100 mA, the meter resolution shall be 1 mA or better. Regarding AC inputs, insufficient sample inte

、rvals and measurement durations can lead to power measurement errors. Use of a power analyzer (or equipment with equivalent capability and accuracy) is required for measuring the input power of a given piece of equipment. DC power equipment should meet the electromagnetic noise requirements of ATIS

、0600315.2007, therefore the AC noise on the input power port(s) is not considered significant. For fluctuating loads, the reported data shall be the average of logged data over a 15 minute period. 5.3 Power Measurements - Input When multiple power sources are used, the power input from all lines sha

、ll be considered. All redundant power supplies and rectifiers shall be active in the system. EUT with multiple power connections (including redundant connections) shall have all feeds connected and the power flow from all feeds summed to obtain total system power. If the power is coming from a remot

、e source, such as a span power line or other remote power source, these need to be added to the power number used to calculate overall heat dissipation. For frame level: All frame level power measurements shall be taken at the main system power input (incorporating all operational modules). For shel

、f level: Shelf level power measurements shall be taken at the main shelf power input (incorporating all operational modules). For circuit packs: Circuit pack power measurements shall be taken at each of the five load levels by tapping into the circuit pack input current line(s) (e.g., at the jumper,

、 fuse, or current protection device) or by removing the circuit pack from the shelf and monitoring the change in power at the shelf or frame power input. For base configuration: Base configuration power measurements shall be calculated by subtracting the power of all non-base configuration circuit p

、acks from the total main shelf level power. A linear efficiency for power supplies is assumed and considered acceptable for the purposes of this standard. 5.4 Power Measurements - Output The power dissipated in external loads for some EUT can be a significant portion of the Powerin. In this case, th

、e power dissipated externally shall be subtracted from the Powerinfor the EUT. Examples of external loads to be considered: Span powered (xDSL, Traditional, such as repeated T1 spans, CATV span, DC span powering units) Sealing Current - shall be measured with an appropriate loading device for the te

、chnology used ATIS-0600010.03.2011 6 Conditioned voltages (e.g., Rectifiers, power supplies, providing power to external loads) PoE POTs External load terminations shall be actual terminating devices like those used in actual service, or simulation devices that cause the equipment to dissipate the s

、ame equivalent heat. For the following interfaces, output power is not considered significant for purposes of this standard: Non-span powered xDSL Wireline traffic (e.g., T1/DS3) Equipment with radio frequency (RF) output35.5 EUT Stabilization The average input power shall be allowed to stabilize fo
