25、 Station Functionality This section describes the characteristics of a Mobile Station (MS) model to define the services and features in this Standard. It includes all external interfaces within the MS including external devices, audible annunciators, visual indications, and subscriber interaction de

26、vices. Not all of these interfaces are electrical in nature. 1.1 Digit Entry Keys The MS shall have a key pad with the following keys for digit entry: 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 0 , *, and # . If the digit keys also have letter keys, the digit keys should include three or four letters as in

29、ft to MS manufacturer discretion. 1.1.1 Letter Entry Keys If the MS has letter keys that are not also digit keys, the MS shall implement at least one of the following two options: The MS shall inform the subscriber of the letter to digit key mapping via a visual mapping on the MS display. The MS sha

31、eys. The keys indicated “Mandatory” in this section are required for all MSs. These keys are used in feature and service descriptions in other places in this document. Other keys are marked “Optional” to indicate those keys which may be furnished at the discretion of the MS manufacturer. The use of

32、the function keys with the digit entry keys provide an alphabet for messaging which is used to describe user interactions. The use of the alphabet does not require that the keys actually be used in the described sequence, but rather that the message appear as though the keys were pressed in the desc

33、ribed sequence. A single key may be programmed to send an entire sequence of keys and digits to simplify the use of certain features. Send (Mandatory) The SEND or SND key is used to originate a call using the digits in the display or to answer an incoming call. If the mobile is already in a call, th

34、e key is used to transmit the digits in the display in a “flash” request analogous to a land line switchhook flash. 35、 701-5 Mobile Station Functionality End (Mandatory) The END key is used to end the current connection. Clear (Mandatory) The CLEAR or CLR key is used to clear or erase one or all digits in the display. This allows the subscriber to correct any digit entry errors before sending them to the base stati

36、on. 1.3 Switches The MS may have any of the following switches. These switches may be implemented as a physical switch, a mode changed by a key sequence local to the MS or a one time local function code. Local function codes are not sent over the Base Station to Mobile Station radio link (air or Um

37、interface). DTMF (Optional) The DTMF switch allows the subscriber to send DTMF digits. The DTMF digits can either be sent as the subscriber presses the digit keys, or be accumulated in the display and sent en bloc when the subscriber presses a function key. Whenever DTMF tones are sent, the subscrib

38、er should hear a locally generated key feedback tone (not necessarily the actual DTMF tone). Switchhook (Optional) A switchhook allows a subscriber to end a call or connection by returning the handset to its cradle or base. The switchhook need not be physically activated. The switchhook serves no ot

39、her functional purpose and specifically cannot be used to generate a flash request or switchhook flash. A switchhook may be incompatible with some implementations of hands-free operation. A/B (Optional) The A/B switch allows the subscriber to control the selection of one or both of the alternative s

40、ervice providers (A-side, B-side, non-wireline, or wireline service provider) for a given service area. An indicator may be implemented as an LE

42、D, a message on an LCD or however the manufacturer chooses. Indicators are optional. In Use The IN USE indicator indicates when a connection is established with a base station. No Service The NO SERVICE or NO SVC indicator indicates an MS does not have contact with the base station. Roam Traditional

43、ly, when the ROAM indicator is illuminated, it indicates that the current serving system is not the same as the home system service provider programmed into the MSs NAM. Functionality may exist that allows the MS to indicate more than just on or off, when an indicator other than a simple lamp is use

44、d to indicate roaming status. Lock The LOCK indicator indicates when the MS is locked and cannot be used to make or receive calls. System A/System B (Optional) The System A/System B or A/B indicator is used to indicate the type of system in current radio contact. The indication may be implemented ei

45、ther as two separate indicators or by merging the indication with the ROAM indicator. This may be implemented as two indicators: one for the System A side and one for the System B side. The system A indicator should be labeled A. The system B indicator should be labeled B. Less desirable labeling is

46、 Non-wireline for the A side or Wireline for the B side. This may be implemented as a single ALT indicator to indicate the serving MSC is not on the same side (A or B) as the home service provider. Alternatively the System A/System B indicator may be implemented by flashing the ROAM indicator when t

47、he current serving MSC is not the same as the home system service provider programmed into the MSs NAM, and that the service provider is not on the same side (A or B) as the home service provider. Digital (Optional) The DIGIT

49、AL or DIG indicator indicates that the MS is using a digital traffic channel. This indication requires both the current call mode preference of the MS to be digital and for the system to have digital capabilities. Privacy (Optional) The PRIVACY or PRIV indicator indicates that the MS is using an encrypted speech or traffic channel. 1.5 Annunciators The MS may have audible annunciators to indicate the occurrence of certain events that need to be brought to the immediate attention of the subscriber. Annunciators are intended to alert the subscriber without viewing the display.
