T
、his standard was developed in accordance with TIA procedural guidelines, and represents the consensus position of the Working Group and its parent Subcommittee TR-41.3, which served as the formulating group. 28、h wideband and narrowband digital wireline telephones. The series consists of this base document and three subdocuments providing separate requirements for telephones equipped with handsets, headsets, and speakerphones. The first TIA standard to cover narrowband digital transmission performance for
、wireline telephones was TIA-579, Acoustic-to-Digital and Digital-to-Acoustic Transmission Requirements for ISDN Terminals, published in February 1991. It was revised in 1998 and the name shortened to Transmission Requirements for Digital Wireline Telephones. However, it only covered telephones equip
、ped with handsets. TIA-579-A was replaced in December 1999 by Interim Standard TIA-IS-810, Transmission Requirements for Narrowband Voice over IP and Voice over PCM Digital Wireline Telephones, which included requirements for telephones with handsets, headsets, and speakerphones. A revised version a
、chieved full standards status a year later. In 2006, the document was again revised to become TIA-810-B, and the name was shortened to Transmission Requirements for Narrowband Digital Telephones. TIA-920, Transmission Requirements for Wideband Digital Wireline Telephones, was published in December 2
、002 and covered telephones equipped with handsets, headsets, and speakerphones. A decision was made to separate the subsequent TIA-920-A revision into a series of subdocuments, with the base document and the handset and headset versions published in February 2011. The speakerphone version followed i
、n November 2012. Since it is anticipated that many digital communications devices going forward will support narrowband and wideband transmission modes, this “B” revision of the TIA-920 series incorporates requirements for both modes into each of the handset, headset, and speakerphone sub-documents.
、 Thus, this document will supersede TIA-810-B. Future revisions may add coverage for even wider bandwidths, such as the super-wideband and full band transmission modes.11ITU-T Recommendation P.10/G.100 and its Amendment 3 define normal band (narrowband) as covering 300 to 3400 Hz, wideband as coveri
、ng 100 to 7000 Hz, super-wideband as covering 50 to 14,000 Hz, and full band as covering 20 to 20,000 Hz. iii TIA-920.000-B OVERVIEW OF TRANSMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR DIGITAL INTERFACE COMMUNICATIONS DEVICES 1 SCOPE AND PURPOSE SCOPE 1.1The TIA-920 series of standards provide acoustic transmission re
、quirements for digital interface communications devices. The devices may be equipped with handsets, headsets, or speakerphones for providing the acoustic interface to the user. They may operate in the narrowband (300 to 3400 Hz) transmission mode or the wideband (100 to 7000 Hz) transmission mode, o
、r they may support operation in both modes. PURPOSE 1.2This particular document serves as the core standard and provides a description of the document structure for the series. Since the various types of acoustic interfaces (handset, headset, and speakerphone) require somewhat different test methods
、, there is one document in the series for each type of interface. However, each interface document contains transmission requirements for both narrowband and wideband modes of operation. 1 TIA-920.000-B 2 DOCUMENT STRUCTURE FOR THE TIA-920 SERIES The TIA-920 series of standards consists of a base do
、cument and a series of sub-documents containing acoustic transmission requirements for digital interface communications devices. Each sub-document in the series addresses requirements unique to a particular type of user acoustic interface. The document numbers listed do not include the current revis
