A horizontal force shallbe gradually applied through the seat cover centrally locatedat the highest level of contact between seat cover and thewater closet or tank cover so a force of 445 20 N (100 5lbs.) shall be created. The tank cover shall remain in placedu

A 6 mm(1/4 in.) steel plate of convenient size shall be welded to thetop flanges of the channels. The channels shall be placedacross the b

、owl rim and shall be centered at a distance of 254mm (10 in.) for regular and 305 mm (12 in.) for elongatedbowls measured normal to the centerline across the seat boltholes. (See Figure 5) Rubber discs, approximately 32 x10mm (1-1/4” x 3/8”) shall be placed at four positions noted inFigure 5, to sim

、ulate bumpers, between the channels andrim. The bowl shall be filled to the normal level with waterprior to the application of the load. A load of 1334 22 N(300 5 lbs.) including the weight of channels and plateshall be placed on the fixture. Deflection of the rim shall bemeasured after 60 5 minutes

、 with the load in place, andafter an additional 60 5 minutes with the load removed.Rim deflection shall be measured at points indicated inFigure 5 with an instrument having a accuracy of 0.025 mm(0.001”). The bowl shall be inspected for visible damagewhile the load is in place. The load shall be rem

、oved and thesurface shall be inked as described in 3.3.1, and shall beinspected for damage by the procedure specified in 3.2.4.5.1.2 Performance requirement. There shall be novisible cracks or water leakage either when the load is inplace or after removal of the load, nor any visible distortionafter

、 removal of the load. Rim deflection with load in placeshall not exceed 2.54 mm (0.10 in.) after 60 5 minutes.Residual deflection 50 5 minutes after load removal shallnot exceed 1.3 mm (0.05 in.).4.5.2 Trapway leak resistance.4.5.2.1 Test method. The trap shall be filled to the nor-mal level and the

、 trapway outlet shall be sealed with a suit-able rubber plug. The dry portion of the trapway be subject-ed to an air pressure of 0.5 kPa (2 in.) of water column for aperiod of 15 1/2 minutes using a gauge with a range notexceeding 127 mm (5 in.) water column or a water manome-ter with graduations no

、t exceeding 3 mm (1/8 in.) water col-umn (see Figure 6). If a decrease in gauge reading isobserved after 15 minutes, the pressure shall be maintainedfor an additional 15 1/2 minutes, at which time the gaugeshall again be observed. This test shall be made subsequentto the Auger Test (4.2) and the Rim

、 Load test (4.5.1.).4.5.2.2 Performance requirement. There shall be noleakage during exposure to the test pressure for 15 1/2minutes, as indicated by the pressure gauge. If a smalldecrease in gauge reading is observed after 15 1/2 minutes(that might be due to temperature effects), a second gaugeread

、ing shall be made after a total of 30 1 minutes of expo-sure. There shall be no additional decrease.4.5.3 Tank top load4.5.3.1 Test method. The tank shall be mounted withcover on a matching bowl or suitable test fixture. A load of445 22 N (100 5 lbs.) shall be applied to the top of theinstalled cove

、r of the unit along the lengthwise centerline ateach of two separate places: (1) at the midpoint of the topand (2) at the quarter point from one end. The load shall beapplied on a 75 mm (3 in.) diameter steel weight distributiondisc resting on a 13 mm (1/2 in.) thickness of sponge rubberor other sui

、table soft material which is in contact with theunit surface being loaded, as shown in Figure 7. The loadshall remain in place 2 1/2 minutes. The tank shall beobserved for visible damage while the load is in place. Theload shall be removed, and shall be inked as described in3.3.1, and inspected for

、damage by the procedure specifiedin 3.2.4.5.3.2 Performance requirement. There shall be novisible cracks or water leakage either when the load is inplace or after removal of the load, nor any visible distortionafter removal of the load.4.5.4 Hydrostatic load4.5.4.1 Test method. The tank shall be mou

、nted withcover on a matching bowl or suitable test fixture.Measurements of tank deflection shall be made at severallocations. These measurements shall be conducted separate-ly or collectively. Dial indicators as specified below shall beused. The tank shall be filled with water to the manufactur-ers

、recommended highest level, with water maintained at 23 3 C (75 5 F). The sum of the two deflections observedat each location shall be recorded. The tank shall be emp-tied.Position of dial indicators (see figure 8)(a) Ends of Tank. A dial indicator shall be positionedon the outside at each end of the

、 tank, midway between thefront and back, at a position 13 mm (1/2 in.) below the man-ufacturers specified waterline.(b) Front and Back of Tank. A dial indicator shall bepositioned on the outside of both front and back walls of thetank, midway between the ends and at a position 13 mm (1/2in.) below t

、he manufacturers specified water line.(c) Bottom of Tank. Where possible, a dial indicatorshall be positioned on the outside bottom of the tank at eachof the two quarter points nearest the ends and midwaybetween the front and the back walls of the tank. If ribs arelocated at or near these points, th

、e dial indicators shall bemoved to a position midway between the ends of the tankand the ribs.4.5.4.2 Performance requirement. Maximum deflec-tion shall be in accordance with Table 2. Neither of the twodeflections taken at each position shall exceed 75% of thetotal allowed.IAPMO/ANSI Z124.4-20065Lic

The flange connectionshall be inked using the same solution and techniquedescribed in 3.3.1, the flange shall be visually inspected forpermanent distortion and cracks as specified in 3.2.4.6.1.2 Performance requirements. There shall be

A 38 mm (1-1/2 in.) diameter,0.225 kg (1/2 lb.) steel ball shall be dropped one time perimpact point from the specified height to strike several dif-ferent points

、 on the unit surfaces as specified in the Table 3and as shown in Figure 9. The ball shall be dropped inside aguide tube 42 mm (1-5/8 in.) inside diameter. The tube shallbe positioned vertically (within 5) of its longitudinal axisaligned with the specified point of impact within 3 mm (1/8in.). The ball shall be dropped from a position such that itslower periphery is at the same elevation as the top end of theguide tube. The guide tube shall be rigidly clamped so as toremain in the specified position during testing. The testsshall be mad
