11、PS 93-95,Water Closet Seats with Spray.This Standard is written to give freedom to the manufacturer in design and technology toproduce products, whether completely mechanical in nature or incorporating electronically con-trolled features, with good engineering practices for the protection of public

12、health.The Project Team met on May 27, 1998, in Hoboken, New Jersey to begin the work. ThisStandard is the culmination of those efforts.In this edition, the Scope has been revised to include cold and/or hot water. Other minoreditorial changes also have been made to this edition.Suggestions for impro

19、Products covered by this Standard are intendedto be supplied with cold and/or hot water.The provisions of this Standard are not intended toprevent the use of any alternate material or methodof construction, provided any such alternate meets theintent of this Standard.1.2 Units of MeasurementValues a

25、lushed with flowing water atthe end of each cycle shall be considered self-cleaning.The self-cleaning function shall occur automatically dur-ing the operating cycle or it shall be initiated manuallyby the user.2 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS2.1 Backflow ProtectionEach unit that is intended for connection to

26、the potablewater supply shall be equipped with a backflow preven-tion device.Vacuum breakers complying with para. 3.5.1 shall beinstalled in accordance with manufacturers instruc-tions, with the critical level located not less than 1 in.(25.4 mm) above the flood level fixture rim.2.2 Electrical Comp

28、SI Z124.5.2.6 SprayersSprayers shall be fully retractable, self-cleaning, andconcealed when not in use.2.7 Water Closets With Bidet SprayWhen the sprayer is located in a concealed channelbelow the water closet flood level rim, the channel andsprayer shall be flushed with water during the operatingcy

29、cle of the bidet spray. The sprayer shall not be subjectto contamination in its retracted position. In its retractedASME A112.4.2-2009position, the sprayer shall be completely removed fromthe vertical path of the liquid and solid waste.When the water closet tank is used as a source ofwater for the s

30、prayer, the water shall be isolated fromthe water used for flushing.2.8 Seat Cover DispensersSeat cover dispensers shall be cycle tested in accor-dance with para. 3.5.2.2.9 Temperature Safety DeviceThe unit shall be equipped with a safety device toshut off the unit when the water discharge temperatu

31、rereaches 118F (48C).3 TESTING3.1 MethodologyAll testing shall be conducted in the order listed.3.2 Bidet Spray Pressure3.2.1 Flowing Pressure3.2.1.1 Test Method. The unit shall be connectedto a water supply whose pressure shall be raised to aflowing pressure of 125 psi (862 kPa), measured at theinl

32、et to the unit. Water shall be allowed to move freelythrough the unit for 5 min.3.2.1.2 Performance Criterion. There shall be nosigns of leakage from the unit. Flow from the unit shallbe as intended by the manufacturer.3.2.2 Static Pressure3.2.2.1 Test Method. The unit shall be in the offposition (f

33、ully closed) and the water pressure shall beraised to a static pressure of 250 psi (1 724 kPa). Thispressure shall be maintained for 5 min.3.2.2.2 Performance Criterion. The unit shall showno signs of leakage or structural damage.3.3 Bidet Spray Temperature3.3.1 Normal Operating Temperature3.3.1.1 T

34、est Method. At the maximum tempera-ture setting, run the unit for 5 min. Set the water inletpressure at 50 psi 5 psi (345 kPa 34.5 kPa) flowingpressure. Set the water inlet temperature at 65F 5F(18.5C 2.5C). Measure the maximum temperature atthe outlet.3.3.1.2 Performance Criterion. The maximum out-

35、let water temperature shall not exceed 110F (43C).3.3.2 Maximum Shutoff Temperature for SafetyDevice3.3.2.1 Test Method. Supply water to the unit atan initial temperature of 105F +0/10F (40.5C2+0/5.5C). Set the water inlet pressure at 50 psi 5 psi(345 kPa 34.5 kPa) flowing pressure. Activate thespra

36、yer and slowly raise the water temperature to 118F(48C). Increase the water temperature no faster thanan average of 1F (0.5C) every 5 sec. Repeat this testfollowing the bidet spray cycle test.3.3.2.2 Performance Criteria. Either the unit or thewater flow shall shut off within 5 sec of the discharget

37、emperature reaching 118F (48C). After shut off, watermay continue to flow from the unit, so long as the flowstream falls down off of the sprayer such that it will notcontact the user. In the event that water ceases to flowprior to reaching a temperature of 118F (48C), thedevice shall be considered t

38、o have complied with therequirement of this paragraph.3.4 Bidet Spray Cycle Test3.4.1 Test Method. The unit shall be tested 75,000successive and continuous cycles. Set water inlet pres-sure at 50 psi 5 psi (345 kPa 34.5 kPa) flowingpressure. The temperature of hot water flow in the unitshall be set

39、at the maximum setting. Operate the sprayer75,000 times. At each cycle, the retractable sprayer shallfully extend and then fully retract. For units with multi-ple sprayers, each sprayer shall complete 75,000 cycles.3.4.2 Performance Criteria. At the end of the cycletest, the valve shall be able to c

40、ontrol the water flowand the retractable sprayer shall still be functioning atoperating pressure. In addition, there shall be no signsof leakage from the unit. Flow from the unit shall be asintended by the manufacturer.3.5 Backflow Prevention Test3.5.1 Atmospheric Vacuum Breaker3.5.1.1 Test Method.

41、The vacuum breaker shall betested in accordance with para. 2.9 (water rise test) ofASSE 1001.3.5.1.2 Performance Criterion. Water rise in thesight tube shall be no more than12in. (12.7 mm).3.5.2 Seat Cover Dispenser Test3.5.2.1 Test Method. Operate the seat cover dis-penser for 5,000 cycles. The sea

42、t cover shall be dispensedand released to complete one cycle.3.5.2.2 Performance Criteria. Failure of the dis-penser mechanism to dispense the seat cover in 100 ormore of 5,000 cycles shall be cause for rejection of thedevice. In the case of continuous feed seat covers, theused seat cover material s

43、hall be rendered unusable.3.6 Bidet Spray Self-Cleaning Test3.6.1 Test Method. Operate the bidet spray enoughcycles to be sure the system is purged of air and filledASME A112.4.2-2009with water at normal operating pressure and tempera-ture. Extend the sprayer and dry it thoroughly usingpaper towel o

44、r tissue.Once it is completely dry, use a water soluble, con-trasting colored marker to draw lines on the sprayer asfollows. Draw three rings around the barrel, one in theupper third of the barrels length, one in the middlethird, and one in the lower third. Draw a fourth linelongitudinally, along th

45、e top of the barrel from one endto the other.After the lines have been drawn, release the sprayerand allow it to retract into its off position. Cycle the3sprayer two times on and off. Leave the sprayer on for5 sec and then off for 5 sec, and repeat one more time.3.6.2 Performance Criteria. All of th

46、e four ink linesshould be washed off of the sprayer. Any ink linesremaining on the sprayer shall be considered a failure.4 MARKINGS AND IDENTIFICATION(a) Each unit shall be permanently and legiblymarked with the manufacturers name or trademark.(b) Each unit or its packaging shall be marked withthe m
