CLASSIFICATION 1.1 Classification. This comme
2、rcial item description covers embossing material of the following types (see 5.2): Type I - Embossing top paper - 12 inches by IO inches Type II - Cardboard - 44 inches by 28 inches 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Type I. The embossing top paper shall consist of a sheet of paper uniformly coated on o
3、ne side with heat sensitive adhesive. The paper shall not block to the extent that sheets cannot be separated without surface pick, delamination or loss of coating. The paper shall emboss satisfactorily without surface cracking, scuffing, tearing, delamination or sticking to the embossing die. The e
4、mbossed letters shall firmly adhere to the backing cardboard. The color of the embossing top paper (see 5.1.1) shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 5.2). paper shall conform to the requirements specified in table I. 7、 II. The cardboard shall consist of a facing sheet, a filler board and a backing sheet. The cardboard.shal1 contain not less than 10 percent by weight of reclaimed fiber as specified in 40 CFR, Part 250. The facing sheet shall be not less than 0.005 inch thick and shall be made from 100 percent blea
8、ched wood fiber. The backing sheet shall be not less than 0.004 inch thick and shall be of sufficient contrast to the color of the facing sheet to readily establish the intended working surface. The filler board shall be of sufficient thickness and basis weight so that when pasted to the backing and
9、 facing sheets, the end item meets the requirements specified in Table II. TABLE II. 10、 the cardboard (see 5.1.2) shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order (see 5;2). 3. QUALITY ASSURANCE 3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of the description and conforms to the producers own specific
11、ations, standards and quality assurance practices, and is the same as the product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. When specif.ic quality assurance provisions are specified for any commercial characteristic, the contractor shall furnish data resulting from inspection conducted in acco
12、rdance with the specific quality assurance provisions. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 4. PACKAGING 4.1 Packaging, 4.1.1 Type I. One hundred sheets of

Fifty sheets of cardboard shall be wrapped ip kraft paper and 0 shall be
14、secured by tape. 4.2 Packing. Two thousand sheets of type I embossing top paper, or fifty sheets of type II cardbcard shall be packed in a box conforming to style RSC, type CF (variety SW) or SF, class domestic, grade 275 of PPP-B-636. Box closure shall be in accordance with the appendix of PPP-B-63
15、6. 4.3 Palletization. When specified (see 5.21, containers shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. Pallet types shall be type I (4-way entry), type IV or type V in accordance with MIL-STD-147, Pallets shall be fabricated from wood groups I, II, III
16、 or IV or MIL-STD-731. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps in accordance with bonding means C and D, or film bonding means F or G, in accordance with MIL-STD-147. 4.4 Marking. Unit packs, shipping containers and palletized unit loads shall be marked in accordance wit
17、h MIL-STC-129. 5. NOTES 5.1 Intended use. The embossing materials specified are intended for use in making signs. 51.1 Type I colors. The type I embossing top paper is available in the following colors: Red Green Yellow Purple Blue Orange Dark blue Black White Metallic gold 5.1.2 Type II colors. The
18、 type II cardboard is available in the following colors : Red Black Yellow White Blue Gray 5.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents must specify the following: a.
