SCOPE 1.1 Scope.-This specification contains requirements not covered by the drawings and provides quality assurance provisions for the fabrication of a base plug seal to be used in the 105MM, APDS-T and TPDS-T ammuni tion. 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General.-Materials, parts and assemblies shall comply with the requirements specified on the applicable drawings, referenced specifications and the following: 3.2 Heat treatment or stress relief.-Heat treatment or stress relief applied to any component part shall be u
10、niform throughout and shall be so conducted as to produce in each component the mechanical properties specified on the applicable drawing. with the requirements of the applicable drawing or the applicable mater ia1 specification throughout the component. Where cleaning and surface pretreatment are r
11、equired by component details, the process shall apply to all indicated surfaces regardless of contour -ar:figuration. The protective finish shall be as specified on the applicable drawings and shall be uniformly applied to the surfaces designated by the applicable drawings. Salt spray and other requ

Requirements for 3.6 Workmanship.

23、8. 4.4.2 Examination.-See MIL-A-48078. a. Samplinq plan.-Unless otherwise specified in the Classification of Defects and Test Tables, sampling plans and procedures for major and minor defects shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105, Inspection Level II. b. Tool control dimensions.-Dimensions marked
24、tool control shall be gaged during the First Article testing and twice in every 8 hours shift of regular production and prior to any tooling change. Where destruction of components is necessary to inspect these dimensions, mesurementc of the tool may be substituted provided the contractor has establ
25、ished correlation between the tool dimensions and the component dimensions prior to the start of production. The contractor shall be responsible for maintaining adequate surveillance to assure that drawing requirements are being met throughout the life of the tool. Corrective action will immediately
26、 be instituted by the contractor when drawing requirements are not met. 29、d tests prescribed herein is described in the “Paragraph Ref erence/Inspection Method“ column in the tables starting with paragraph 4.4.2.1. The contractor shall submit for approval inspection equipment designs in accordance with the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL-A-48078 and 6.3 herein
30、. 4.5 Test method and procedures 4.5.1 Protective coating,-Procedures for testing, the cleaning of components and the application of protective coatings shall be in accordance with the criteria for testing as specified on the applicable component drawings and in the specification reference thereon.
31、If a salt spray is required on the applicable specification, the salt spray test shall be accomplished on components or assemblies which have been manufactured in accordance with the drawing requirements. 4.5.1.1 Salt spray test - base plug.-The salt spray test shall be accomplished in accordance wi
32、th MIL-(2-60539. Durinq reqular productin the samples shall be exposed for 120 hours,-beginning with the first lot produced and continuing until three consecutive lots have complied with the applicable requirements. After three consecutive lots have been accepted, the samples of all subsequent lots
33、shall be exposed for 72 hours. Should any lot fail the applicable requirements, the salt spray samples of the following lot shall he exposed for 120 hours until three consecutive lots have been accepted. 4.5.2 Tension test - base plug.-One tensile test specimen shall be taken longitudinally from the
34、 center of each bar. The specimen cl?aI-L conform to the largest obtainable round specimen described by AbTM E-8, Yield strength shall be determined by the offset method utilizing the procedures prescribed by ASTM E-8. 5. - PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Preservation, packaqing, packing and markinq 5.

36、ng permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-B-48600A (AR) 5.2 Packing.-Base plug assemblies shal be packed in a manner which will insure acceptance by common carrier and will afford protection against physical damage during shipment from the supply source to the first receiving activity for immedi
37、ate use. Shipping containers or method of packing shall conform to the Uniform Freight Classification Rules and Regulations or other carrier regulations as applicable to the mode of transportation. Marking.-In addition to any special marking required by the contract or order, interior packages and e
38、xterior shipping containers shall be marked in aacordance with MIL-STD-129. 5.3 5.4 Shipping.-When components from more than one lot are shipped as a car load, each lot must be kept separate and the division between lots clearly indicated to prevent mixing of lots in transit. 6.
