In the event of a co
12、nflictbetween the text of this document and the references cited herein(except for related associated detail specifications, specifica-tion sheets or MS standards), the text of this document takesprecedence. 13、ic exemption hasbeen obtained.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 Material. Materials shall be in accordance with theapplicable drawings and specifications.3.2 Cartridqe. The cartridge shall comply with allrequirements specified on Drawing (Dwg.) 12937903, all associateddrawings, and with all requirements in applica
14、ble specifications.3.3 First article. when specified in the contract orpurchase order (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to firstarticle inspection in accordance with the technical provisionsherein (see 4.3).3.4 Workmanship. All parts and assemblies shall befabricated, loaded and assembled in a
15、thorough, workmanlikemanner. They shall be free of burrs, sharp edges, cracks, dirt,grease, rust, and other foreign matter. The cleaning method usedshall not be injurious to any parts, nor shall the parts becontaminated by the cleaning agents. Exterior surface coatingsshall be continuous; however, a
16、 few light scratches that do notexpose base material may be permitted. All required marking andstamping shall be neat and sharply defined. Total surface imper-fections for nicks, dents, and scratches shall not exceed 2.5% ofthe surface area of the part. MY individual indentation shallnot exceed .010

Unless otherwisespecified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor.isresponsible for the performance of
18、 all inspection requirements(examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as .otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, thecontractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable forthe performance of the inspection requirements specified herein,unless disapproved by the Gove
19、rnment. The Government reservesthe right to perform any of the inspections set forth in thisspecification where such inspections are deemed necessary toensure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meetall requirements of Section
20、s 3 and 5. The inspection set forthin this specification shall become a part of the contractorsoverall inspection system or quality program. The absence of anyinspection requirements in the specification shall not relievethe contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all pro-ducts or supplies
21、 submitted to the Government for acceptancecomply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspec-tion, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptablepractice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, thisdoes not authorize submission of known defective material, eitherindicat
22、ed or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptdefective material.4.1.2 General provisions. Unless otherwise specifiedherein, the provisions,of MIL-A-48078 apply and form a part ofthis specification. Reference shall be made to MIL-STD-109 todefine quality assurance terms used herein.4.2 Cl
23、assification of inspections. The inspectionrequirements specified herein are classified as follows:a. First article inspection (see 4.3).b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4).4.3 First article inspection.4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a firstarticle sample as designated by the C
24、ontracting Officer forevaluation in accordance with provisions of 4.3.2. AS determined by theGovernment, the first article assemblies, components.and testspecimens may be subjected to any or all of the exanunations andtests specified in this detail specification (
26、see Table II) andbe inspected for compliance with any or all requirements of theapplicable drawings.4.3.3 Reiection. If any assembly, component or testspecimen fails to comply with any of the applicable requirements,the first article sample shall be rejected. The Governmentreserves the right to term
27、inate inspection upon any failure of anassembly, component or test specimen to comply with any of therequirements.4.4 Qual i tv conformance inspection.4.4.1 IIMDeCtiOn 10t fOZItIatiOn. Inspection lots shallcomply with the lot formation provisions of MIL-A-48078. Inaddition, each inspection lot shall
28、 contain:a. Links from one lot interfix number from onemanufacturer.b. Dummy cartridges from one lot interfix number fromone manufacturer.Cartridges in less than full belt quantities shallbe handledc;s described in paragraph 5.5.4.4.2 Examinations and tests.a. Classification of characteristics. Qual
29、ityconformance examinations and tests are specified in the followingClassification of Characteristics paragraphs. The contractorsquality program or detailed inspection system shall provideassurance of compliance of all characteristics with theapplicable drawing and specification requirements uilizin
30、g as amlnlmum the conformance criteria specified. 34、ampling plans, etc., may be used by the Con-tractor when they provide, as a minimum, the level of qualltyassurance required by the provisions herein. Prior to applyingsuch alternative procedures, methods or equipment, the contractorshall describe them in a written proposal submitted to theGovernment
35、 for evaluation (see 6.8). When required, thecontractor shall demonstrate that the effectiveness of eachproposed alternative is equal to or better than the specifiedquality conformance provisions(s) herein. In case of dispute asto whether the contractors proposed alternative(s) providesequivalent as
36、surance, the provisions of this specification shallaPPIY . Each cartridge shall be subjected tothis test. If any cartridge fails to comply with the requirementspecified on the applicabl
40、e drawing, it shall be classifieddefective and removed from the lot.4.4.4 Inspection eauiDment. The inspection equipmentrequired to perform the inspections specified herein isidentified in the “Inspection Method Reference” column of theClassification of Characteristics listings starting with 4.4.2.1
41、.Contractor inspection equipment designs shall be submitted forGovernment approval as specified in the contract. Designs whichprovide variable measurements instead of attributes data arepreferred in order to facilitate the use of statistical processcontrol. See MIL-A-48078 and 6.3 herein.4.5 Methods
42、 of inspection.4.5.1 Chamber qaqe. The cartridge shall be placed in thechamber specified on the equipment list and must meet therequirement specified on the applicable drawing. This test is anon-destructive test. Parts tested may be returned to the lot.5. PACKAGING5.1 Preservation and Dackaainq.5.1.
43、1 Level B. Preservation and packaging of the linkedcartridges shall be in accordance with Drawings 12928042,9362543, 9362531 or 9362530 as applicable.5.2 Packinq.5.2.1 Level B. The linked cartridge assembly shall bepacked in accordance with Drawings 12928042, 9362543, 9362531 or9362530 as applicable
44、.5.3 Markinq. Marking shall be in accordance with Drawings12928042,9362543, 9362531 or 9362530 as applicable.5.4 ShiDDinq. When components from more than one lot areshipped as a carload, each lot shall be kept separate, and thedivision between lots clearly indicated to prevent mixing of thelots in t

Cartridges in less than fullbelt quantities shall be handled in the following manner:a. AIIammunition box (exterior pack, shipping andstorage containe
