2、cies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements, quality assurance provisions and packaging for one type of metal container used for M87/M88 VOLCANO Mine Canisters. 2. Materials and parts shall be in accordance with 3.2 Containezs. The containers shall comply with all applicable drawings and specifications.

The welding shall comply with the requirements of MIL-W-12332. 3.3.1 Tensile strength. When tested as specified in 4.5.1, the tensile strengt

17、h of the body material shall be in accordance with .drawing 12630901 and the tensile strength of the longitudinal body weld shall be not less than 65 percent of the tensile strength of body material. 3.4 Painted surface. The painted surface of the container shall comply with the requirements of TT-6

18、-490. However, the film thickness and salt spray requirements of TT-C-490 shall not apply to the interior surfaces, welded spots, sharp corners and crevices of the exterior surface of the container. Upon assembly of the cover assembly to the body weldment (body assembly) , the cover assembly shall freely engage and rotate within the body wedment. is rotated with the iiYi handle in the open position, the “Y“ handl

20、e shaft ends shal freely engage into the respective bayonet slots of the rim. When the “Y“ handle is in the closed position (rotated 1800), the spring clip shall engage and lock the handle in place and a 0.06 inch diameter pin shall pass through the handle and shaft support holes. When the spring cl

21、ip is disengaged and the handle rotated to the open position, the cover assembly shall disengage from the body weldment. or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to First Article Inspection (see 4.3). The containers shall be regular, smooth, and free from wrinkles, pin holes, cracks, rough spots, burrs, sharp edges and any other defect that might affect the serviceability, durability, safety or appearance of the container. 3.7.2 Paint coating. The paint coating shall b

23、e in accordance with applicable drawings and comply with instructions in MIL-STD-171. 3.7.3 Parts. All parts shall be free of chips, dirt, grease, rust and foreign material. The cieaiiing method used shall not be injurious to any of the parts nor shail any of the parts be contaminated by the cleanin

24、g agents used. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. bxcept as otherwise specified in the contract or purch

25、ase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance 02 the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspecti

27、ction set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. requirements in this specification shall not relieve the. contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government ?sr acceptance c

28、omply with all requirements of the contract- Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. The absence of any inspection 4.2 Classification of inspections.

29、The following types of - -_I inspection shall be conducted on this item: a. First article inspection. (see 4.3) b. Quality conformance inspection. (see 4.4) 4,3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for

33、ot formation provisions of MIL-A-48078. inspection lots of containers shall contain material from lots with the same interfix number from one manufacturer. 4.4.2 Examination. See MIL-A-48078. Unless otherwise specified in the Classification of Deects and Test Tables, sampling plans and procedures fo

34、r major and minor defects shall. be in accordance with MIL-STD-105, Inspection Level. II. Continuously sampling plan in accordance with MIL-STD-1235 may be used if approved by the Government. Randomly interchange th cover assemblies with container body weldments while positioning %he cover

37、assembly in a random orientation and perform the air PKSSU test DE 4.5.7.1. Failure to meet ihe applicable reguiremnt shail be cause for rejection of the 1o.fi. 4.5.8 Covermetest. Upon assembly of the body weldment and cover assembly, the cover shall freely engage and - rotate wikhin the body we%dme

The Y-handle shaft ends shall engage into the respective bayonet slots of the rim without interference an a (3.06 inch diameter pin shall pass through the cover assembly holes when in the clamping position. The spring clip shal engage and Lock the handle when in this position. The Y-handle, when

39、 disengaged and in the open position, shall Cisengage the COVK from the body. Any assembly which fails to meet: this ci-iteria shall be classed defective. 4.5.9 -que task. The minimum applicable torque shall be applied to the SCKW. Any evidence of motion of the screw before reaching the minimum acce

40、ptable torque shall be cause for rejection of the container assembly being teated. 41、553 T s MIL-C-70734 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packaging requirements. None required. 5.2 Packing. Packing shail be Level C. Metal ammunition containers and components shall be prepared in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-1190. 5.3 Marking. Shipping marking shall comply with MIL-STD-1190 and the fo

42、llowing additional instructions. No shipping marking shall be placed directly on the containers. Commercial shipping tags attached with wire shall be used on the containers unless otherwise specified. The following information shall be shown: Item name and model number (if applicable), part number a

43、nd revision, contract number, lot number and date, name and address of manufacturer. If containers or components are bundled, boxed or palletized, the gross weight and quantity shall be included. The above information may be placed on pallets or boxes by labeling or stenciling . 6. NOTES 6.1 Intende

44、d use. The container is intended for use in the M87/M88 VOLCANO Mine Canister. 6.2 Orderinq data. See MIL-A-48078. 6.3 Drawings. Drawings listed in Section 2 of this specification under the heading US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) may also include drawings prepar

45、ed by and identified as US Army Armament Research and Development Command (ARRADCOM), Edgewood-Arsenal, Frankford Arsenal, Rock Island Arsenal or Picatinny Arsenal drawings. Technical data originally prepared by these activities is now under the cognizance ARDEC. 6.4 Submission of inspection equipme

46、nt design for approvals. See MIL-A-48078. Submit designs as required to: Commander, US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), ATTN: AMSMC-QAT-I, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000. This address will be specified on the Contract Data Requirements List, DD Form 1423.
