Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), samples shall be furnished by the contracting officer to be used for guidance, information and as a standard for design and workmanship. may appear in the guide samples in which event the specification

Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.4 and 6.4). 3.3 Material. 3.3.1 Cloth, laminated. The laminated cloth shall be composed of two layers of clo
23、th bonded together with an adhesive by heat and pressure. be texturized polyester cloth (shell fabric) see paragraph 3.3.1.2 and the other to be a fusible cloth referenced in paragraph 3.3.1.1. The laminated cloth shall show good adhesion between the two fabrics and show no bubbles or puckering in t

26、layer of the laminated cloth shall be a texturized polyester material conforming to MIL-C-83448 (USAF) and shall show good fastness to wet-dry cleaning, perspiration, light, laundry, and crocking. The color of the texturized polyester shall be Black, Cable No. 65018 for type II and III shoulder mark
27、s and shall be Army Green AG344 for type I shoulder marks. 3.3.1.2.1 Color. The color shall match the standard s
29、ample when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps which approximate artificial daylight having a correlated color temperature of 7000 plus or minus 500 K, with illumination of 100 plus or minus 20 foot candles, and shall be a good match to the sample under incandescent lamplight at 2300 plus or minus
30、100 K. shall be equal to the standards established in the DOD Standard Color Card of Official Standardized Shades for Heraldic Yarns for Embroidery and Ribbons, The degree of luster 1974 3.3.2 Thread. The thread for hemming the shoulder mark shall be polyester and conform to type I, class 1, letter
31、size AA, 2 ply of V-T-285. The thread shall match the color of the top layer of the laminated cloth. 3.3.3 Embroidery yarn. 3.3.3.1 Synthetic metallic embroidery yarn. The synthetic metallic yarn for embroidery shall conform to type III, class 8 or 9 of MIL-E-17568 with the following exceptions: a.
32、The finished yarn size shall be 260 (plus or minus) 15 denier. b. The yarn shall have sufficient turns per inch to insure proper uniformity of the metallic ribbon wrapped around the core and can be used on any type of embroidery machine to meet specification requirements. 3.3.3.2 Rayon embroidery ya
33、rn. The rayon embroidery yarn shall be semi-dull, continuous filament, regenerated cellulose type rayon, two-ply yarn. The yarn size and color shall be specified on the applicable cartoon or draw- ing. The yarn shall show good colorfastness to wet-dry cleaning, perspiration, laundering and light. 5

The design of each shoulder mark shall be as shown on the applicable drawing. 3.5 Construction. 3.5.1 Embroidering, The device for each class of shoulder mark shall be machine embroidered on the f
35、ace side of the texturized polyester cloth. The applicable yarn shall be as specified in 3.3.3.1 for type II insignia and as specified in 3.3.3.2 for type I and III insignia. The embroidered device shall conform to the applicable cartoon furnished by the Government and will become a part of this spe

The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products
44、or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. The inspe
45、ction set forth in this specification shall 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspections specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.4). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5). 4.3 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified, all inspections shall
46、be performed in accordance with the test conditions specified in applicable test method document or applicable paragraph(s1 in the specification. 4.4 First article inspection. Inspection and testing of the first article sample shall be made on a completely finished item for all provisions of this sp
47、ecification applicable to the end product examination and test. 4.5 Quality conformance inspection.
