SCOPE DRAWINGS 1.1 This specification covers Flash Ranging Plotting Boards M5A2E2 and M18 which are used to plot the location of enemy bat

The re- quirements of this specification are detailed only to the extent considered necessary to insure inherent quality and performance capabilities. 3.3 General specification

The plotting boards shall show no evidence of physical
9、failure and shall meet all performance re- quirements of this specification at a standard ambient temperature of between 60 and 90F. after having been exposed to and thermally stabilized at ambient temperatures of -80 and +160 F. 3.4.2 Operating temperatures. The plotting boards shall meet the appli
10、cable requirements of 3.8 while exposed to and thermally stabi- lized at ambient temperatures of -40 and +160 F. 3.5 Plotting scale flatness. The plotting scale of the drafting machine shall lie flat from the “i” graduation to the “16” grad- uation when the “11” graduation is at the center of the bo
11、ard. The ends of the scale shall lie flat within 0.031 inch. 3.6 Paralielism. When ained with the fidu- cial edge of the plotting scale, the grid lines of the plotting disk shall be parallel to the fiducial edge within 0.016 inch throughout their entire length. 3.7 Accuracy. Lines drawn forming a ce
12、n- trally located square measuring 16,000 meters per side shall portray a perfect square. Each side shall be equivalent to 16,000 meters 16 meters. Lines connecting the diagonally op- posite cprners of the square shall form the hypotenuse of right triangles. The hypotenuse of each shall measure 22,6
13、27 meters 221 meters. 3.8 Operability. 3.8.1 Torque. The torque required to rotate the slow motion knob shall not exceed 9 pound inches at a standard ambient temperature of between 60 and 90 F., and 12 pound inches at the extreme operating temperatures speci- fied in 3.4.2, 3.8.2 Plotting board tabl
14、e. With the brake lever pressed and held, it shall be possible to rotate the plotting board table through its entire travel without binding. With the brake lever released, the braking mechanism shall hold the table in a clamped position but will allow fine adjustment with the slow motion knob. 3.8.3
15、 Drafting machine. There shall be no binding in any part of the drafting machine when the plotting scale of the machine is moved back and forth over the entire plotting disk. 3.8.4 Plotting d&k surface. The plotting disk shall have a surface that will allow clear pencil markings and clean erasures.
16、The sur- face shall have no defects such as pits, digs, scratches, and stains which may be mistaken for pencil marks. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or pur- chase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of
17、all inspection require- ments as specified herein. Except as other- wise specified, the supplier may utilize his own or any other inspection facilities and services acceptable to the Government. In- spection records of the examinations and tests shall be kept complete and available to the Government
18、 as specified in the contract or order. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 General provisions. The quality assur- ance
19、 provisions of this specification and of other documents referenced herein form the basis for inspection to be performed by the supplier. Inspection shall be in accordance with the requirements of Specification MIL- 1-45208 and the component inspection re- quirements of Specification MIL-F-13926. De

Removal or correction of defective units and resubmittance of re- jected lots shall be in accordance with “Ac- Y ceptance and Rejection” as specified in Standard MIL-STD-105. 4.3 Control tests. 4.3.1 General. One plotting board shall- be sele

Three plotting boards shall be selected at random from each 50 produced, or from each months produc- tion, whichever occurs first, to determine compliance with the s
25、torage and operating temperatures as specified in 3.4.1, 3.4.2, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2. 4.3.3 Control test failure. Should a control test sample fail to meet the specified test re- quirements, acceptance of the product will be suspended by the Government until neces- sary corrections have been made by the
26、con- tractor and the resubmitted samples have been approved. 4.4 Inspection equipment. Except as other- wise provided for by the contract, the con- tractor shall furnish and maintain all required measuring and testing equipment in accordance with the “Measuring and Test Equipment” requirement of Spe
27、cification MIGI-45208. The Government reserves the right to use the test equipment for its own independent inspections to the extent that such use will not unduly interfere with the contractors delivery schedule. 4.4.1 Government furnished inspection equipment. Where the contract provides for Govern

Ali inspection equipment required by drawings forming a part of the contract and not provided by the Government shall be supplied by the contrac- tor in accordance with the “Inspecti
30、on Pro- Visions” of Specification MIL-145208. 4.43.2 Contractor design. The contractor shall design and supply inspection equipment compatible with the “Test Methods and Pro- cedures” specified in 4.6, and with the Tomponent Inspection” requirements of Specification MIGF-13926. Concept, con- structi
31、on, materiais, dimensions, and toler- ances used in design of test equipment shall be so selected and controlled as to insure that the test equipment will permit positive rejection of a product which exceeds the prescribed tolerance limit, and will reliably indicate acceptability of a product which
32、does not exceed 90% of the prescribed tolerance limit. Construction shall be such as to facili- tate routine calibration of the equipment. equpmmt, 4.5 Test methods and procedures. 4.5.1 Storage temperature. The storage temperature for the plotting boards at minus 80 degrees and plus 160 degrees Fah
33、renheit shall be conducted in conformance with 3.4.1 and the “Test Facilities” of Specification MIL-F-13926. Upon return to standard am- bient temperature the plotting boards shall be subjected to a visual and tactile examina- tion and shall show no evidence of physical failure such as cracks, split
34、s, or warpage. The plotting boards shall then be subjected to all the tests specified herein. 4,5,2 Operating temperature. The tempera- ture cycling for the operability tests of the plotting boards at the specified temperature extremes shall be conducted in accordance with 3.4.2 and the Test Facilit
35、ies” of Speci- fication MIGF-13926. When the plotting boards are thermally stabilized at minus 40 degrees and plus 160 degrees Fahrenheit, respectively, they shaii be subjected to the operability tests specified in 4.5.6. 4.5.3 Plotting 8d.e ftatness. 36、ng the “11” graduation of the plotting scale at the center of the board, and measuring any variation in flat- ness at the “i” and “15” graduations of the scale with standard thickness gages. Any error in flatness shall not exceed the require- ments of 3.6. 4.5.4 ParaUelism. Parallelism of the grid l
37、ines in relation to the fiducial edge of the plotting scale shall be tested on the two grid lines which intersect through the center of the plotting disc. (Rotate the table 1600 mils to obtain alinement of the perpendicular grid line with the plotting scale.) Use a pocket optical comparator to check
38、 errors in paral- lelism. Errors shall not exceed the require- ments of 3.6. 4.5.5 Accuracy. The fiducial edge of the scale of the drafting machine shall be set to coincide with the north-south grid lines so that it can be moved back and forth across the plotting surface remaining parallel to its or
39、iginal position. With the fiducial edge of the scale in this position, a point shall be established approximately in the center of the plotting board. Using the grid squares as units of measure, a point shall be marked off 8,000 meters each side of the established cen- ter, on the east-west grid lin
40、e and a vertical line shall be drawn through each of these points. Rotate the grid plotting board 1600 mils in a clockwise direction following the same procedure on the new east-west grid line. Extend all lines to complete a square. Rotate plotting board counterclockwise 800 mils and draw a vertical
41、 line bisecting the square into two triangles. Rotate the plotting board counterclockwise 1600 mils and repeat performance. These new lines shall form a hypotenuse in compliance with 3.7 as meas- ured with the plotting scale. 4.5.6 Torque. This test shall be performed using a commercial type inch-po
42、und torque wrench with adapter to accommodate the slow motion knob. Readings with the torque wrench shall be taken in both directions while in motion. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Packaging, packing, and marking. Pack- aging, packing, and marking shall be in ac- cordance vith Specif
