11、3198 (AR) 3.3.3 Priming mixture. - The moisture content of the priming mixture at the- time of loading the primer shall not ex- ceed 0.30 percent when tested as specified in 4.s.3. e 3.4.1 Sensitivity and output. - The primer shall function on the first attempt and shall. indent the specified lead d
12、isc for not less than 0.063 inch nor more than 0.183 inch and shall expand the diameter of the brass sleeve by not less than 0.006 nor more than 0.013 inch when tested as specified in 4.5.4.1, 3.4.2 Waterproofness. - The primer shall comply with the requirements of 3.4.1 after being submerged in wat
13、er to a minimum depth of two (2) inches for not less than 48 hours, at a temperature of 75 degrees F plus or minus 5 degrees, when tested as specified in 4.5.4.2. 3.5 First article inspection. - This specification con- tains technical provisions for -first article inspection. Requirements for the su
14、bmission of first article samples by the contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 3.6 Workmanship. - All parts and assemblies shall be fab- ricated and loaded in a thorough, workmanlike manner. They shall be clean and free of burrs, chips, sharp edges, cracks, surface defects, dirt, grease,
15、 oil, rust, corrosion products, and other foreign matter. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any part nor shall the parts be contaminated by the cleaning agent. All required markings shall be neat and sharply defined. 4. QUALITY ASSUMNCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibilities for inspection
16、 and standard quality assurance provisions. - Unless otherwise specified herein- or in the contract, theprovisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are hereby made a part of this detail specification. 4.2 Classification of inspections. - The following types of inspection shall be conducted on this ite

27、sting is described in the First Article and Quality Conformance Inspection tables. 4.4.4 Inspection Equipment. - The inspection equipment required to perform the examinations and tests prescribed in this specification is identified, either directly or by refer- ence, in the “Paragraph Reference/Insp
28、ection Method“ column of the First Article or Quality Conformance Inspection tables herein. The contractor shall submit inspection equipment de- signs to the Government for approval in accordance with the terms of the contract. See Section 6 of MIL-A-48078 and 6.2. 4.5 Test methods and procedures. 4
29、.5.1 Moisture content of barium nitrate. - The moisture content of barium nitrate shall be determined at the time of loading. The moisture content of the barium nitrate shall be determined in accordance with MIL-STD-650, Method 101.5. The sample shall be selected from that quantity to be used to pro
30、duce a primer lot. 4.5.2 Moisture content of lead azide. - The moisture content of lead azide shall be determined as specified in 4.5.1 except, that a two gram sample shall be used and the dish covered with a sheet of polytetrafluoroethylene. The sample shall be selected from that quantity to be use
31、d to produce a primer lot. 4.5.3 Moisture content of priming mixture. - The moisture content of the priming mixture shall be determined at the time of loading. A sample of 0.7 grams shall be selected. The sample shall be accurately weighed to the nearest milligram and dried to a constant weight at 6
32、0 degrees C plus or minus 5 degrees C, or in a desiccator containing anhydrous calcium chloride. The loss in weight shall be calculated as the per- centage of moisture as follows: Percentage of Moisture = 100 (A-B) A where : A = The weight of the sample before drying. B = The weight of the sample af
33、ter drying. 4.5.4 Functioning. 4.5.4.1 Sensitivity and output. - Three hundred and fif- teen (315) primers shall be selected frbm each lot and sub- jected to these tests. Test equipment and procedures shall be as specified on Dwgs. 8842964, 9275627, 9275628, 9275629, 9275630, 9275631, 9275632 and 9275633. The primer shall be assembled into
35、 the test fixture as specified on the applicable drawing. The specified weight shall be dropped from a height of nine (9) inches, maximum, onto the firing pin to function the primer. The height of the drop shall be measured from the top of the firing pin to the bottom of the weight ball. Any primer
36、that fails to comply with the requirements specified in 3.4.1 shall be classed defective. 4.5.4.2 Waterproofness. - Following acceptance of the first article sample, one hundred and twenty-five (125) primers shall be selected-from each lot for this test. If three (3) or more primers fail to comply w
37、ith the specified requirements, the lot shall be rejected. All primers selected for the water- proofness test shall be conditioned as specified in 3.4.2, then removed and, within two (2) hours, shall be subjected to the functioning test as specified in 4.5.4.1. 4.5.5 Composition of priming mixture.
38、- From each batch a sample of not less than six (6) grams shall be selected from that quantity of priming mixture to be used to produce a primer lot for this determination. The analysis shall be performed as specified in 4.5.5.1 to 4.5.5.5. 4.5.5.1 Barium nitrate. - Transfer an accurately weighed po
39、rtion of approximately 0.5 grams of the dried sample (dried as per standard referenced in 4.5.1) to a tared medium porosity fritted glass crucible of 30 milliliter (mi.) capacity. Record the weight o crucible and sample as Weight A. Add 3 ml. of dis- tilled water saturated with lead azide at a tempe
40、rature of 5“ + 2OC. Swirl for 30 seconds, then apply suction. Repeat this procedure two times, making a total of three 3 ml. extrac- tions. Using an eye dropper, transfer to the crucible enough alcohol to thoroughly wet the sample and wash the crucible walls. Aspirate until the odor of alcohol is no
41、 longer detec- table and dry the crucible in an oven for 30 minutes at 60 + 5OC. Cool in a desiccator and weigh. Record this weight as Wight B. or basic lead styphnate determination. Correct for the percen- tage of normal or basic lead styphnate in the water extract as follows: Transfer the filtrate
42、 and washings quantitatively to a 100 ml. calibrated volumetric flask, washing the beaker thoroughly with distilled water and dilute to the mark. 45、ith the reference cell, correct the optical density obtained as described above for the difference in the amount of light which the two cells scatter and absorb. To do this, fill both cells with a solution of water and alcohol, and measure at a wave length of 410 millimicrons, the optical density of
