Chemical Requirements6.1 The heat analysis of the steel shall conform to therequirements for the grade specified on the order.6.2 Standard Alloy Steel grades listed in Table 1 are thosecommonly pro
42、duced for alloy steel sheet and strip.6.3 Nonstandard Alloy Steel grades may be specified usingthe ranges and limits shown in Table 2.6.4 Structural Alloy SteelThe grade shall be specified asoutlined in 6.2 or 6.3. However, since different mechanicalproperties may be expected for each of the many ch
43、emicalcompositions and conditions (heat treatment) that may bespecified, consideration must be given to these factors inselecting the chemical composition to be specified.7. Metallurgical Structure7.1 Microstructure:7.1.1 Drawing SteelA minimum of 75 % of the carbidemicrostructure shall be of the gl
44、obular type for material with anordered thickness of less than or equal to 0.400 in. (10 mm).For material with an ordered thickness greater than 0.400 in.(10 mm), the percent minimum globular carbide microstructureguarantee shall be by agreement between the purchaser and theproducer.7.1.2 Number of
45、TestsThe number of tests shall be inaccordance with the producers standard quality control pro-cedures.8. Mechanical Requirements8.1 Alloy SteelMechanical tests are not applicable toregular quality alloy steel sheet and strip.8.2 Test specimen preparation and mechanical testing shallbe in accordance
46、 with Test Methods and Definitions A 370.8.3 Drawing Steel and Structural Alloy Steel:8.3.1 Tension and Hardness Tests:8.3.1.1 Tensile, Hardness PropertiesWhen tension and/orhardness tests are specified on the order, the test results shallconform to the requirements specified on the order. Yieldstre
47、ngth, tensile strength, elongation and hardness require-ments may be specified. The properties will vary depending onthe chemical composition, condition, and heat treatment. Pro-ducers are frequently consulted as to grade, resultant mechani-cal properties, recommended heat treatment, and other infor
48、-mation needed to establish the property parameters to meet enduse requirements. Rockwell hardness requirements may bespecified, providing the requirements are compatible with thetension test requirements.
