3、ts of Specifications A 506 and A 507.1.2 The product is available in three designations: AlloySteel, Drawing Steel, and Structural Alloy Steel.1.3 Alloy steel is furnished to chemical composition re-quirements and is intended primarily for general or miscella-neous use where bending and moderate for

4、ming is a require-ment.1.4 Drawing steel is produced principally for applicationsinvolving severe cold plastic deformation such as deep drawnor severely formed parts.1.4.1 Drawing steel may be furnished in several conditions,heat treatments, surface finishes, and edges, as specified herein.1.5 Struc

5、tural steel is furnished to chemical compositionrequirements and to specific mechanical property requirementswhich may include tension tests, hardness tests, or othercommonly accepted mechanical tests.1.5.1 The formability of structural steel decreases withincreasing yield strength or hardness. A plate produced in this manner is nolonger governed by this sheet

9、steel specification and since thismaterial is now plate, the appropriate plate standard must nowapply.1.7.2 The dimensional tolerances of Specification A 635/A 635M are applicable to material produced to this specifica-tion.1.7.3 The material is to be fed directly from coils into ablanking press, dr

10、awing or forming operation, tube mill, rollingmill, or sheared or slit into blanks for subsequent drawing orforming.1.8 The values stated in either inch-pound units and SI units(metric) are to be regarded separately as standard. General Requirements for Delivery3.1 Material furnished under this specification shall con-form to the applicable requirements of Specification A 505,current edition, unless otherwise provided herein.

Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information, as required, to adequately describethe desired material.4.1.1 ASTM specification number and year of issue,4.1.2 Classification of the material (hot-rolled sheet orhot-rolled strip),4.1.3 C

19、hemical composition (grade),4.1.4 ConditionMaterial in accordance with this specifi-cation is furnished in the hot rolled condition. Pickled (or blastcleaned) must be specified if required. Material ordered aspickled (or blast cleaned) will be oiled unless ordered dry,4.1.5 Heat treatment required,

Chemical Requirements6.1 The heat analysis of the steel shall conform to therequirements for the grade specified on the order.6.2 Standard Alloy Steel grades listed in Table 1 are thosecommonly pro

42、duced for alloy steel sheet and strip.6.3 Nonstandard Alloy Steel grades may be specified usingthe ranges and limits shown in Table 2.6.4 Structural Alloy SteelThe grade shall be specified asoutlined in 6.2 or 6.3. However, since different mechanicalproperties may be expected for each of the many ch

43、emicalcompositions and conditions (heat treatment) that may bespecified, consideration must be given to these factors inselecting the chemical composition to be specified.7. Metallurgical Structure7.1 Microstructure:7.1.1 Drawing SteelA minimum of 75 % of the carbidemicrostructure shall be of the gl

44、obular type for material with anordered thickness of less than or equal to 0.400 in. (10 mm).For material with an ordered thickness greater than 0.400 in.(10 mm), the percent minimum globular carbide microstructureguarantee shall be by agreement between the purchaser and theproducer.7.1.2 Number of

45、TestsThe number of tests shall be inaccordance with the producers standard quality control pro-cedures.8. Mechanical Requirements8.1 Alloy SteelMechanical tests are not applicable toregular quality alloy steel sheet and strip.8.2 Test specimen preparation and mechanical testing shallbe in accordance

46、 with Test Methods and Definitions A 370.8.3 Drawing Steel and Structural Alloy Steel:8.3.1 Tension and Hardness Tests:8.3.1.1 Tensile, Hardness PropertiesWhen tension and/orhardness tests are specified on the order, the test results shallconform to the requirements specified on the order. Yieldstre

47、ngth, tensile strength, elongation and hardness require-ments may be specified. The properties will vary depending onthe chemical composition, condition, and heat treatment. Pro-ducers are frequently consulted as to grade, resultant mechani-cal properties, recommended heat treatment, and other infor

48、-mation needed to establish the property parameters to meet enduse requirements. Rockwell hardness requirements may bespecified, providing the requirements are compatible with thetension test requirements. These requirements do not apply tothe uncropped ends of unprocessed coils.8.3.1.2 Test Specime
