Scope1.1 This specification covers the manufacture and purchaserequirements of products used for assembly and construction ofcircular reinforced corrugated
3、steel manholes used in sewerand water works. Products covered by this specification are notnormally used for the conveyance of sanitary or industrialwastes. The steel sheet used in fabrication of the manholestructures has a protective metallic coating of zinc(galvanizing), aluminum, 55 % aluminum-zi
4、nc alloy, or zinc-5 % aluminum-mischmetal alloy, or a polymer pre-coating.1.2 Part I, Sections 1 through 11, of this specificationpresents general requirements and requirements that are com-mon to each corrugated steel product in the sections outlined in1.3.1.3 Part II of this specification presents

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Steel Sheet for Manhole Structure(s) PipeAll pipefabricated under this specification shall be formed from zinc-coated sheet, aluminum-coated sheet, 55 % aluminum-zincalloy-coated sheet, zinc-5 % aluminum-mischmetal alloy-coated s
18、heet all conforming to Specification A929/A929M,zinc-coated sheet conforming to Specification A885/A885M,or polymer precoated sheet meeting A762/A762M . If the typeof metallic coating is not stated in the order, zinc-coated sheetconforming to Specification A929/A929M shall be used. Allpipe furnished
19、 on the order shall have the same metalliccoating, unless otherwise specified.4.2 Steel Sheet for Coupling BandsThe sheets used infabricating coupling bands shall have the same coating andshall conform to the same specification listed in 4.1 as that usedfor fabrication of the manhole assembly(s)pipe
20、 furnished underthe order.4.3 RivetsThe rivets used in riveted pipe shall be of thesame material as the base metal specified for the corrugatedsheets. They shall be thoroughly galvanized. 27、es, andwater, in which steel reinforcement has been embedded orcontained in such a manner so that the steel and reinforcementact together.4.7.1 CementCement shall conform to the requirementsfor Portland cement Specifications C150/C150M, or shall bePortland blast-furnace slag cement or portland-pozzo
28、lan ce-ment conforming to Specifications C595/C595M, except thatthe pozzolan constituent of the Type IP portland-pozzolancement shall be fly ash and shall not exceed 25% by weight.4.7.1.1 Fly AshFly Ash shall conform to the requirementsof Class F or Class C of Specifications C618.4.7.2 Allowable Com
29、binations of Cementious MaterialsThe combination of cementious materials used in the concreteshall be one of the following.4.7.2.1 Portland cement only,4.7.2.2 Portland blast-furnace slag cement only,4.7.2.3 Portland pozzolan cement only, or4.7.2.4 A combination of portland cement and fly ash isbetw
30、een 5 and 25 % by weight of total cementitious materials(Portland cement plus fly ash).4.7.3 AggregatesAggregates shall conform to Specifica-tions C33/C33M, except that the requirements of gradationshall not apply.4.7.4 Admixtures and BlendsAdmixtures or blends shallnot be used unless approved by th
31、e owner.4.7.5 Steel ReinforcementReinforcement shall consist ofbars of Grade 40 steel conforming to Specifications A615/A615M.4.7.6 Other MaterialsOther materials required for a prod-uct and not covered in Section 4 will be covered in Part IIsection for that product.5. Design5.1 Design requirements
32、for a product are prescribed in thespecific Part II section for that product.5.1.1 The minimum compressive strength of compositecorrugated steel/concrete manhole products covered by thisspecification shall be 4000 psi unless specified otherwise inPart II of the specification.5.2 Modified or Special

34、ns otherthan those prescribed in the specific section for a product. Ifsuch approval is obtained, then the product shall meet all thetests and performance requirements specified by the owner inaccordance with the appropriate sections of manufactures andphysical requirements.5.2.2 If permitted by the
35、 owner, the manufacturer is notprohibited from requesting approval of designs of specialsections, such as reducers, tees, and base.6. Reinforcement6.1 This section presents requirements for reinforcementcover, continuity, laps, welds and splices. Other reinforcementrequirements are presented in Sect
36、ion 4, and any additionalrequirements are given in Part II section for a specific product.6.2 CoverThe exposure of the ends of reinforcement,stirrups or spacers used to position the reinforcement duringplacement of the concrete shall not be cause for rejection.6.3 ContinuityThe continuity of the cir
37、cumferential rein-forcement shall not be destroyed during the manufacture of theproduct, except when pipe openings are provided in theproduct.6.4 Welded Steel Reinforcement Laps, Welds, and Splices:6.4.1 If splices are not welded, the reinforcement shall belapped not less than 20 diameters for defor
38、med bars, and 40diameters for plain bar and cold-drawn wire.6.4.2 When splices are welded and are not lapped to theminimum requirements in 6.4.1 pull tests of representativespecimens shall develop at least 50% of the minimum specifiedtensile strength of steel, and there shall be a minimum lap of2 in
39、. For butt welded splices in bars, permitted only withhelically wound cages, pull tests of representative specimensshall develop at least 75% of the minimum specified tensilestrength of the steel.7. Cast-in-Place Concrete Manufacture7.1 MixtureThe aggregate shall be sized, graded,proportioned, and m
40、ixed with such proportions of cementitiousmaterials and water as will produce a homogeneous concretemixture of such quality that the products will conform to thetest and design requirements of this specification. All concreteshall have a water-to-cement ratio not exceeding 0.53 byweight. Cementitiou
41、s materials shall be as specified in 4.7.1and shall be added to the mix in a proportion of not less than470 lb/yd3, unless mix designs with lower cementitious mate-rials content demonstrate that the quality and performance ofthe product meet the requirements of this specification.7.2 CuringConcrete
42、products shall be subjected to anyone of the methods prescribed in 7.2.1 7.2.3 or to any othermethods or combination of methods approved by the ownerthat will give satisfactory results.7.2.1 Water CuringConcrete products are water-cured bycovering with water-saturated, or by any other approvedmethod
43、 that will keep products moist during the curing period.7.2.2 Sealing MembraneA sealing membrane conformingto the requirements of Specifications C309 is applied and shallbe left intact until the required concrete strength requirementsare met. The concrete at the time of the application of themembran
44、e shall be within 10 F of the atmospheric tempera-ture. All concrete surfaces shall be kept moist prior to theapplication of the membrane is applied.7.2.3 The manufacturer is not prohibited from combiningthe methods prescribed in 7.2.1 and 7.2.2 provided the requiredconcrete compressive strength is
45、attained.8. Acceptance8.1 Acceptance Procedures:8.1.1 Unless otherwise designated by the owner at the timeof, or before, placing an order, acceptance procedures forcast-in-place reinforced concrete manhole products shall not beas specified in the Part II section for a particular product, andshall no
46、t be prohibited from consisting of one or more of thefollowing:8.1.1.1 Acceptance of a product on the basis of tests ofmaterials includes concrete compressive strength.8.1.1.2 Acceptance of a product on the basis of inspection ofthe finished product, including amount and placement ofreinforcement to
47、 determine conformance with the designprescribed under this specification, and freedom from defects.8.2 Test Methods:8.2.1 Concrete Compressive Strength Test:8.2.1.1 Type of SpecimenCompression tests for satisfyingthe minimum specified concrete strength requirements shall bemade on either concrete c
48、ylinders or at the option of themanufacturer from the concrete manhole product.8.2.1.2 Compression Testing of CylindersCylinders shallbe made in accordance with the Test Methods C497, and shallbe tested in accordance with C39/C39M. For manholeproducts, an owner shall not be prohibited from requiring
49、concrete compressive tests on cylinder specimens numberingin the amount of 5% of the total order of a manhole product,but not to exceed two cylinders for each days production. Theaverage compressive strength of all cylinders tested shall beequal to or greater than the specified strength of the concrete.Not more than 10% of the cylinders tested shall fall below thespecified strength of the concrete. In no case shall any cylindertested fall below 80% of the specified strength.8.2.1.3 Compressive Testing of CoresCores shall be cutfrom the concret
