The bend test shall be acceptable if no crack

、s or otherdefects exceeding18 in. (3.2 mm) in any direction be present inthe weld metal or between the weld and the pipe metal afterbending. Cracks that originate along the edges of the speci-mens during testing and that are less than14 in. (6.3 mm) inany direction, shall not be considered.10. Tensi

、le Properties of Production Welds10.1 Reduced-section tension test specimens required inSection 8, taken perpendicularly across the weld with the weldreinforcement removed, shall show a tensile strength not lessthan 95 % of the specified minimum strength of the steel. Atthe manufacturers option, the

、 test may be made withoutremoving the weld reinforcement, in which case the tensilestrength shall be not less than the specified minimum tensilestrength for the grade of steel used.11. Hydrostatic Test (Note 5)11.1 Each length of pipe shall be tested by the manufacturerto a hydrostatic pressure that

、 will produce in the pipe wall astress of 60 % of the specified minimum yield point of the steelused at room temperature. The pressure shall be determined bythe following equation:P 5 2St/Dwhere:P = minimum hydrostatic test pressure, psi (Note 6) (not toexceed 2800 psi (19 MPa),S = 0.60 times the mi

、nimum specified yield point of thesteel used, psi (MPa),t = specified wall thickness, in. (mm), andD = specified outside diameter, in. (mm).NOTE 5A hydrostatic sizing operation is not to be considered a6Available from American Welding Society, 550 N.W. LeJeune Rd., Miami, FL33135.A 134 96 (2005)2hyd
