Manufacture5.1 The longitudinal edges of the steel shall be shaped togive the most satisfactory results by the particular weld
17、ingprocess employed. The steel shall then be properly formed andmay be tacked preparatory to welding. The weld shall be madeby automatic means (except tack welds) and shall be ofreasonably uniform width and height for the entire length of thepipe. By agreement between the purchaser and the manufac-t
18、urer, manual welding by qualified procedure and welders maybe used as an equal alternate under this specification.5.2 All longitudinal seams, spiral seams, and shop girthseams shall be butt-welded.6. Number of Production Weld Tests6.1 One weld test specimen specified in Section 8 shall bemade from e
19、ach lot of 3000 ft (900 m) of pipe or fractionthereof of each size and wall thickness.6.2 If any test specimen shows defective machining ordevelops flaws not associated with the welding, it may bediscarded and another specimen substituted.6.3 Each length of pipe shall be subjected to the hydrostatic
20、test specified in Section 11, unless otherwise specified in 11.3.7. Retests7.1 If any specimen tested in accordance with Section 10fails to meet the requirements, retests of two additionalspecimens from the same lot of pipe shall be made, each ofwhich shall meet the requirements specified. If any of
21、 theretests fail to conform to the requirements, test specimens maybe taken from each untested pipe length at the manufacturersoption. Each specimen shall meet the requirements specified,or that pipe shall be rejected.8. Test Specimens of Production Welds8.1 The weld-test specimens for the reduced-s
22、ection tensiontest shall be taken perpendicularly across the weld and from theend of the pipe or, alternatively, from flat test pieces of materialconforming to the requirements in the specifications used in themanufacture of the pipe. The alternative weld-test specimensshall be welded with the same

The test pieces shall have theweld approximately in the middle of the specimen. Thespecimens shall be straightened cold, and shall be tested atroom temperature.8.2 Reduced-section

(10 mm) shall be qualified foreach wall thickness of pipe manufactured. Thicknesses38 to34in. (10 mm to 19.0 mm), inclusive, shall be q

The bend test shall be acceptable if no crack
28、s or otherdefects exceeding18 in. (3.2 mm) in any direction be present inthe weld metal or between the weld and the pipe metal afterbending. Cracks that originate along the edges of the speci-mens during testing and that are less than14 in. (6.3 mm) inany direction, shall not be considered.10. Tensi
29、le Properties of Production Welds10.1 Reduced-section tension test specimens required inSection 8, taken perpendicularly across the weld with the weldreinforcement removed, shall show a tensile strength not lessthan 95 % of the specified minimum strength of the steel. Atthe manufacturers option, the
30、 test may be made withoutremoving the weld reinforcement, in which case the tensilestrength shall be not less than the specified minimum tensilestrength for the grade of steel used.11. Hydrostatic Test (Note 5)11.1 Each length of pipe shall be tested by the manufacturerto a hydrostatic pressure that
31、 will produce in the pipe wall astress of 60 % of the specified minimum yield point of the steelused at room temperature. The pressure shall be determined bythe following equation:P 5 2St/Dwhere:P = minimum hydrostatic test pressure, psi (Note 6) (not toexceed 2800 psi (19 MPa),S = 0.60 times the mi
32、nimum specified yield point of thesteel used, psi (MPa),t = specified wall thickness, in. (mm), andD = specified outside diameter, in. 34、 for not less than 5 s, or fora longer time as agreed upon between the purchaser and themanufacturer.NOTE 7When agreed upon between the purchaser and the manufac-turer and so stated on the order, pipe may be tested to one and one halftimes the specified working pressure, except that the maximum test
35、pressure shall not exceed 2800 psi (19 MPa) nor shall the maximum fiberstress exceed 85 % of specified minimum yield point of steel or to a fiberstress that does not exceed 85 % of the specified minimum yield point ofthe steel or 2800-psi (19-MPa) test pressure.11.3 When specified in the order, pipe
36、 may be furnishedwithout hydrostatic testing and each length so furnished shallinclude the mandatory marking of the letters “NH.” Addition-ally, the certification, when required, shall state “Not Hydro-statically Tested” and the specification number and materialgrade, as shown on the certification,
37、shall be followed by theletters “NH.”12. Permissible Variations in Weights and Dimensions12.1 Thickness and WeightThe wall thickness and weightfor welded pipe under this specification shall be governed bythe requirements of the specifications to which the steel wasordered.12.2 CircumferenceThe outsi

39、When specific straightness requirements are desired, the order should so state, and the tolerances shall be a matter ofagreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer.12.4 OvalityOut-of-roundnessThe difference betweenmajor and minor outside diameter shall not exceed 1 %. Closertolerances may be
