Zinc for Coating5.1 The zinc used for the coating shall be any grade of zincconforming t
18、o Specification B6.6. Manufacture6.1 The base metal of the fabric shall be of a goodcommercial quality of steel wire.6.2 The designs of netting, poultry-and-garden fence fabric,and chick fence fabric covered by this specification shall be inaccordance with those shown in Table 1, Table 2, and Table
19、3.7. Dimensions and Permissible Variations7.1 The size of the mesh openings in the netting shall be 1in. 25 mm or 2 in. 51 mm as specified (see Table 1). Theopening tolerance shall be 618 in. 3.2 mm when measuredacross the flats.7.2 The height of the netting and fence fabrics (center tocenter distan
20、ce between top and bottom wires) shall not varymore than 61 in. 25 mm.7.3 The tolerance for fence fabrics individual line and staywire spacing shall be 638 in. 9.5 mm. This does not alter theoverall height of the fabric as designated in 7.2.7.4 The length tolerance for all styles of netting and fenc
21、efabric covered by this specification shall be 0, +3 %.7.5 Due to the mechanics of the manufacturing process, acertain amount of out-of-roundness can be expected on staywires of the finished fence fabric. No limits are placed onout-of-roundness of wire in the fabric.8. Workmanship8.1 Splicing of ind
22、ividual line wires by means of a wrapjoint or an electric butt weld is permitted. The maximumnumber of line wire splices or joints shall not exceed one halfof the number of line wires in any roll of fence. Such splices orjoints shall be made in a workmanlike manner.8.2 Patching of voids in the poult
23、ry netting by means ofhand weaving is permitted. Such repair shall be made in aworkmanlike manner.8.3 The fence fabrics shall have uniformly wrapped jointsand all stay wires shall be properly spaced and substantiallyperpendicular to the line wires.9. Sampling9.1 SamplesFor the purpose of tests, sele
24、ct at random, oneroll from every 50 rolls or fraction thereof in a lot or a total ofseven rolls, whichever is less. A lot shall consist of all the rollsof a single design offered for delivery at the same time.9.2 Test Specimens for Poultry NettingSpecimens fortesting shall consist of 1 ft20.09 m2 se
25、lected at any point inthe width of the netting and taken from the end of the roll, butnot to include the selvage. Subject a specimen from eachsample to tests for weight of coating in accordance withSection 10.9.3 Test Specimens for Fence FabricCut a length offabric, approximately 3 ft or 1 m long, f
26、rom the end of thesample roll to include at least three of the vertical (stay) wires.The test specimens for weight of coating determination shallconsist of a number of lengths cut from a single wire,excluding all wire knots, wraps, and welded sections, such thatthe total length of wire test is at le
27、ast 6 in. 152 mm, butpreferably about 12 in. 305 mm. Test at least six testspecimens for weight of coating in accordance with Section 10.9.3.1 Select as follows:9.3.1.1 One specimen from the top or bottom wires,9.3.1.2 Three specimens from horizontal (line) wires otherthan the top or bottom wires, a
28、nd9.3.1.3 Two specimens from vertical (stay) wires.9.4 Instead of testing wire from the completed fence fabricin accordance with 9.2 or 9.3, the manufacturer may elect toestablish compliance with Section 10 of this specification bytests made on wire prior to fabrication. If the manufacturermakes thi
29、s election, the purchaser still reserves the right to testwire from the completed fence fabric.10. Weight of Coating10.1 The class of coating for netting shall be specified bythe purchaser and shall be in accordance with the classes ofcoating prescribed in Table 4.10.2 The weight of coating for the

41、ejection11.1 RetestsIf 20 % or more of the specimens tested failfor weight of coating, or any sample fails dimensional require-ments, four additional rolls shall be taken at random from each50 rolls or fraction thereof and tested for conformance.11.2 RejectionIf 20 % or more of the total number ofre
42、test specimens fail for weight of coating, or any sample failsdimensional requirements, the entire lot represented by thesamples may be rejected.11.3 Instead of rejecting the entire lot as provided for in11.2, the producer may test specimens from every roll asprovided for in Section 7 and 9.2 or 9.3
43、 and reject only thoserolls failing to meet the requirements of this specification.12. Inspection12.1 Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order orcontract, the manufacturer is responsible for the performanceof all inspection and test requirements specified in this speci-fication. Except as ot
44、herwise specified in the purchase order orcontract, the manufacturers own or any other suitable facilitymay be used for the performance of the inspection and testrequirements unless disapproved by the purchaser at the timethe order is placed. The purchaser shall have the right toperform any of the i
45、nspection and tests set forth in thisspecification when such inspections and tests are deemednecessary to ensure that the material conforms to prescribedrequirements.13. Rejection and Rehearing13.1 Material that fails to conform to the requirements ofthis specification may be rejected. Rejection sho
46、uld be reportedto the producer or supplier promptly and in writing. In case ofdissatisfaction with the results of the test, the producer orsupplier may make claim for a rehearing.14. Certification14.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers or suppliers certification shall be fu
47、rnished to thepurchaser that the material was manufactured, sampled, tested,and inspected in accordance with this specification and hasbeen found to meet the requirements. When specified in thepurchase order or contract, a report of the test results shall befurnished.15. Packaging and Marking15.1 Un
48、less otherwise specified, packaging, marking, andloading for shipment shall be in accordance with PracticesA 700.15.2 When specified in the contract or order, and for thedirect procurement by or direct shipment to the U.S. Govern-ment, marking for shipment, in addition to requirementsspecified in th
49、e contract or order, shall be in accordance withMIL-STD-129 for U.S. military agencies and in accordancewith Fed. Std. No. 123 for U.S. Government civil agencies.16.
