7、l Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Plates furnished to this material specification shallconform to Specification A20/A20M. These requirements out-line the testing and retesting methods and procedures, permit-ted variations in dimensions, and mass, quality and repair ofdefects, marking, loadi
8、ng, and ordering information.3.2 In addition to the basic requirements of this specifica-tion, certain supplementary requirements are available whenadditional control, testing, or examination is required to meetend use requirements.3.3 If the requirements of this specification are in conflictwith th
9、e requirements of Specification A20/A20M, the require-ments of this specification shall prevail.4. Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed andshall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement ofSpecification A20/A20M.5. Heat Treatment5.1 Except as allowed by section 5.
10、2, the plates shall be heattreated by heating to not less than 1650F 900C, quenchingin water or oil and tempering at not less than 1150F 620C.5.2 Plates ordered without the heat treatment specified insection 5.1 shall be stress relieved by the manufacturer, andsubsequent heat treatment of the plates
11、 to conform to section5.1 shall be the responsibility of the purchaser.6. Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-DeoxidizedSteel, in Specification A20/A20M

24、etermined by the 0.2 %offset method or by the total extension under load of 0.5 %method.7.1.2.2 For plates34 in. 20 mm and under in thickness, thetest specimen shall be the 112 in. 40 mm wide rectangular-testspecimen.7.1.2.3 For plates over34 in. 20 mm, either the fullthickness rectangular-test spec
25、imen or the12 in. 12.5 mmround-test specimen may be used.7.1.2.4 When the 112 in. 40 mm wide rectangular-testspecimen is used, the elongation is measured in a 2 in. or 50mm gage length which includes the fracture.7.2 Impact Properties Requirements:7.2.1 Transverse Charpy V-notch impact test specimen
