United States15. Heat Treatment5.1 All plates shall be heat treated in accordance with 5.2.Sh
16、ell plates and other parts, including heads and reinforcingpads, which are heated for forming, shall be heat treated afterforming in accordance with 5.2.5.2 Heat Treatment ProcedureHeat treat all plates byheating to a suitable temperature within the range from 1475 to1700F 800 to 925C, holding for a
17、 sufficient time to obtainuniform temperature throughout the plate thickness and thenquenching in water. Subsequently, temper the plates within therange from 1050 to 1175F 565 to 635C for Type I and TypeII, or from 1000 to 1125F 540 to 615C for Type III, holdingat this temperature for a minimum of 3
18、0 min/in. 1.2 min/mmof thickness but not less than 15 min, and cool in air or waterquench at a rate not less than 300F/h 165C/h.5.2.1 HardeningThe plates shall be heated to a tempera-ture within the range from 1475 to 1700F 800 to 925C, heldat that temperature for a sufficient time to obtain uniform
19、temperature throughout the plate thickness, and then quenchedin a liquid media.5.2.2 TemperingThe plates shall be tempered at a tem-perature within the range from 1050 to 1175F 565 to 635Cfor Type I and Type II, or from 1000 to 1125F 540 to 615Cfor Type III; being held at that temperature for a mini
20、mum of30 min/in. 1.2 min/mm of thickness, but in no case less than15 min, and then cooled in air or liquid-quenched at a rate notless than 300F/h 165C/h.5.2.2.1 Prior to the tempering treatment, the plates may besubjected to an intermediate heat treatment consisting ofheating to a temperature in the
21、 range from 1165 to 1290F 630to 700C for Type I, or 1185 to 1310F 640 to 710C forType II, or 1205 to 1330F 650 to 720C for Type III; holdingat that temperature for a suitable time, but in no case less than15 min, and then water-quenching to below 300F 150C inthe case of plate thicknesses of more tha
22、n58 in. 16 mm orcooling in air or water-quenching to below 300F 150C inthe case of plate thicknesses of58 in. 16 mm and under.NOTE 1The intermediate heat treatment is for the purpose ofenhancing elongation and notch-toughness and for reducing susceptibilityto strain-aging embrittlement and temper em

Chemical Requirements6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsshown in Table 1 unless otherwise modified in accordance withSupplementary Requirement S17, Vacuum Carbon-Deo
24、xidizedSteel, in Specification A20/A20M.7. Mechanical Requirements7.1 Tension Test RequirementsThe material as representedby tension-test specimens shall conform to the requirementsspecified in Table 2.7.1.1 Upon agreement between the purchaser and themanufacturer, yield strength may be determined b
25、y the exten-sion under load method, using 0.005 in./in. mm/mm totalextension.7.1.2 For nominal plate thicknesses of34 in. 20 mm andunder, the 112 in. 40 mm wide rectangular specimen may beused for the tension test and the elongation may be determinedin a 2 in. 50 mm gage length that includes the fra
26、cture andshows the greatest elongation.7.2 Impact Test Requirements:7.2.1 Charpy V-notch impact tests shall be made in accor-dance with Specification A20/A20M.7.2.2 The longitudinal axis of the test specimens shall betransverse to the final rolling direction of the plate.7.2.3 Unless otherwise agree
27、d, tests shall be conducted at320F 195C for Type I or Type III, and at 275F170C for Type II.7.2.4 Each test specimen shall have a lateral expansionopposite the notch of not less than 0.015 in. 0.381 mm.8. Finish8.1 Because retained scale may mask surface imperfections,as well as mar the plate surfac
28、e, plates shall be descaled by theproducer after heat treatment.
