Scope1.1 This speci

3、fication covers carbon steel plates, forgingquality, intended for forging, quenching-and-tempering, andsimilar applications in which uniformity of composition andfreedom from injurious imperfections are important.1.2 The plates are available in six grades, or chemicalcompositions.1.3 When the steel

4、is to be welded, it is presupposed that awelding procedure suitable for the grade of steel and intendeduse or service will be utilized. See Appendix X3 of Specifica-tion A6/A6M for information on weldability.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as

5、 standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.5 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with international

6、ly recognized principles on standard-ization established in the Decision on Principles for theDevelopment of International Standards, Guides and Recom-mendations issued by the World Trade Organization TechnicalBarriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.2. General Requirements and Ordering Information3.1 Material furnished under this specification shall con-form to the requirements of the c

8、urrent edition of SpecificationA6/A6M, for the ordered material, unless a conflict exists inwhich case this specification shall prevail.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The steel shall be killed.5. Chemical Composition5.1 The heat analysis shall conform to the requirements forthe applicable grade lis

9、ted in Table 1.6. Mechanical Property Requirements6.1 The plates shall not be subject to mechanical propertytesting unless otherwise specified on the order.7. Quality7.1 GeneralThe plates shall be free of injurious imperfec-tions and shall have a workmanlike finish.7.2 FinishThe plates shall be furn

10、ished with a finish suchas that produced by hot-rolling, except for ground areasresulting from conditioning operations, unless otherwise speci-fied on the order.7.3 Surface Imperfections:7.3.1 All injurious surface imperfections shall be removedby the material manufacturer or processor.7.3.1.1 Shall

11、ow imperfections shall be ground to soundmetal; the ground area shall be well-faired and the thickness ofthe ground plate shall not be reduced below the minimumthickness permitted.7.3.1.2 All surface imperfections, the removal of which willreduce the plate thickness below the minimum permitted, shal

12、lbe cause for rejection; however, such imperfections may berepaired by welding as provided in 7.5.7.4 Edge Imperfections:7.4.1 Laminar-type discontinuities 1 in. 25 mm and less inlength, and visible to the unaided eye on the edges of plates asprepared for shipment by the manufacturer or processor, a

13、reacceptable and do not require exploration.7.4.2 All larger discontinuities shall be explored to deter-mine their depth and extent. 18、ated by a distance less than thelength of the smaller of two adjacent discontinuities.7.4.3 Indications visible to the unaided eye, on the cut edgesof a plate as prepared for shipment by the manufacturer orprocessor shall not exceed the limits given in Columns 1 and 2of Table 2.7.4.4 Larger indicati

19、ons shall be removed by the manufac-turer or processor by grinding provided the resultant cavitydoes not exceed the limits given in Columns 3 and 4 of Table2.7.4.5 Indications of greater magnitude shall be cause forrejection; however, the defects may be removed and replacedwith weld metal as provide

20、d in 7.5.7.4.6 Indications on the edges of a plate cut during fabrica-tion shall be cause for rejection of the plate, at the discretion ofthe purchaser, when the magnitude exceeds the limits given inColumns 5 and 6 of Table 2. The defects may be removed andreplaced with weld metal as provided in 7.5

21、.7.5 Repair by Welding:7.5.1 Repairs shall be done by welders or welding operatorsmeeting the qualification requirements of ASME Boiler andPressure Vessel Code.7.5.2 The welding procedures shall be demonstrated to besuitable for the grade of material being repaired.7.5.3 The deposited weld metal sha

22、ll have a chemicalcomposition similar to the nominal composition of the plate.7.5.4 Preparation for repair welding shall include inspectionto assure complete removal of the defect.7.5.5 If repair by welding is not acceptable, or if approval ofthe welding procedure by the purchaser is required, the o

23、rdershall so specify.8. Certification8.1 A report of the heat analysis and the results of all testsrequired by the order shall be furnished to the purchaser. Thereport shall include a certification that the material wasmanufactured in accordance with the requirements of thisspecification.9. Keywords

Hardness TestsS82.1 Hardness tests shall be made as specified on the orderand the test results shall conform

30、to the requirements specifiedon the order.S95. Tension Test RequirementsS95.1 Two tension tests shall be made on each lot unless thelot consists of only the product of one plate as-rolled, in whichcase one test shall be made on the lot. A lot shall consist of allplates of the same heat not differing

31、 in thickness by more than38 in. 10 mm.
