1、Designation: A 899 91 (Reapproved 2002)Standard Specification forSteel Wire, Epoxy-Coated1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A 899; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A numbe

2、r in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers steel wire in the size range of0.120 to 0.500 in. (3.05 to 12.7 mm) with three classes ofprotective epoxy coating

3、, in coils, for general use. Class Acoating is intended for use for moderate corrosion protection,Class B coating for more severe protection, and Class C forsevere corrosion and abrasion protection.NOTE 1The coating applicator is identified throughout this specifica-tion as the manufacturer.1.2 The

Except asspecified in 9.1, evidence of cracking or disbonding of thecoating shall be considered cause for rejection of the coatedwire represented by the wrap test

22、sample.7.4 Mechanical TestsAll specified mechanical tests shallbe made on the coated wire with the tensile strength basedupon the diameter of the uncoated steel core wire. When tensiletesting, portions of the coating may be removed for ease ofgripping specimen in the tensile testing machine.7.5 Size

Permissible Coating Damage Due to Handling andProcessing12.1 All damaged areas of each wire shall be repaired withpatching material.12.2 The maximum amount of damage shall not exceed 1 %of the surface area per linear foot (300 mm) of each wire.12.3 Patching shall be done

32、in accordance with the patchingmaterial manufacturers recommendation.13. Rejection and Rehearing13.1 Coated steel wire represented by test samples that donot meet the requirements of this specification shall be re-jected. At the manufacturers option, such wire shall bereplaced or, alternatively, may
