Scope*1.1 This specification covers carbon and low-alloy steelcast

3、ings having chemical analyses similar to that of thestandard wrought grades.1.2 Several classes are covered and are designated bychemical composition as shown in Table 1.1.3 Options for tensile properties are shown in Tables 2 and3.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to b

4、e regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other. General Conditions for Delivery3.1 Material furnished to this specification shall conform tothe requirements of Specification A781/A781M, including anysupplementary requirements that are

7、 indicated in the purchaseorder. Failure to comply with the general requirements ofSpecification A781/A781M constitutes nonconformance withthis specification. In case of conflict between the requirementsof this specification and Specification A781/A781M, thisspecification shall prevail.4. Ordering I

8、nformation4.1 Orders for material under this specification shouldinclude the following information.4.1.1 Quantity,4.1.2 Specification, including year and date of issue,4.1.3 Grade and class of steel,4.1.4 Description of the casting by pattern number ordrawing (Dimensional tolerances should be includ

9、ed on thecasting drawing.),4.1.5 Options in the specification, and4.1.6 Supplementary requirements desired, including stan-dards of acceptance.5. Heat Treatment5.1 All castings shall receive a heat treatment indicated inTable 4. Preliminary heat treatment prior to final heat treatmentas well as mult

10、iple tempering is permitted.5.2 Heat treatment shall be performed after the castingshave been allowed to cool below the transformation range.5.3 The furnace temperature for heat treating shall beeffectively controlled by the use of recording-type pyrometers.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall

11、 conform to the requirements of chemicalcomposition as prescribed in Table 1.6.2 The product analysis tolerances given in SpecificationA781/A781M shall apply to all product analyses performed oncastings supplied to this specification.7. Tensile Requirements7.1 One tension test shall be made from eac

15、l be machined in accordancewith Paragraph 8 of Test Methods and Definitions A370 andtested in accordance with those methods.7.3 To determine conformance with the tension test require-ments, an observed value or calculated value shall be roundedin accordance with Practice E29 to the nearest 500 psi 5

16、 MPafor yield point and tensile strength and to the nearest 1 % forelongation and reduction of area.8. Repair by Welding8.1 Repairs shall be made using procedures and weldersqualified in accordance with Practice A488/A488M.8.2 Repair welds shall be inspected to the same qualitystandards that are use

17、d to inspect the castings. When castingsare produced with Supplementary Requirement S1 specified,weld repairs shall be inspected by magnetic particle examina-tion to the same standards that are used to inspect the castings.When castings are produced with Supplementary S2 or S4, orboth, as specified,

18、 weld repairs in which the depth of the cavityprepared for weld repair exceeds 20 % of the wall thickness or1 in. 25 mm, whichever is smaller, or in which the cavityprepared for welding is greater than approximately 10 in.265cm2, shall be radiographed or ultrasonically tested, or both, tothe same st

19、andards that are used to inspect the castings.8.3 For all classes of Grades SC1020, SC1025, and SC1030,welds exceeding 20 % of the wall thickness or 1 in. 25 mm,whichever is smaller, or exceeding approximately 10 in.265cm2 in area, shall be thermally stress-relieved or completelyTABLE 1 Chemical Com

34、grades and classes shall be thermallystress-relieved or completely reheat-treated following anyrepair welds.9. Test Coupons and Specimens9.1 Test bars shall be poured from the same heat as thecastings represented. Test coupons may be cast integrally withthe castings or as separate blocks similar to

35、those shown in Fig.1 of Specification A781/A781M.9.2 The bar from which the test piece is taken shall beheat-treated in production furnaces to the same procedure asthe castings it represents.When the bar from which the test piece is taken is notheat-treated as part of the same heat-treatment load as

36、 thecasting(s) it qualifies, the austenitizing temperatures for the barshall be within 25F 15C of those for the casting(s). Thetempering temperature for the bar shall be no higher than 25F15C above that of the casting(s) and no higher than thatpermitted by the heat-treatment procedure for the materi

37、al. Thecycle time at each temperature shall not exceed that for thecasting(s).9.3 Test specimens may be cut from heat-treated castings atthe producers option, instead of from test bars.9.4 If any specimen shows defective machining or exhibitsflaws, it may be discarded and another substituted from th

38、esame heat.9.5 If the results of the mechanical tests for any heat or lotor casting do not conform to the requirements agreed upon,retests are permitted in accordance with Test Methods andDefinitions A370. At the manufacturers option, castings maybe reheat-treated and retested. Testing after reheat-
