Quality Assurance5.1 Responsibility for InspectionUnless otherwise speci-fied in the contract or purchase order, the
21、producer or supplieris responsible for the performance of all inspection and testrequirements specified herein. Except as otherwise specified inthe contract or order, the producer or supplier may use his ownor any other suitable facilities for the performance of theinspection and test requirements s
22、pecified herein, unless dis-approved by the purchaser at the time the order is placed. Thepurchaser shall have the right to perform any of the inspectionsand tests set forth in this specification where such inspectionsare deemed necessary to assure that material conforms toprescribed requirements.6.
23、 Chemical Composition6.1 LimitsThe bars, rods, profiles, tubes, or wire shallconform to the chemical requirements in Table 1.6.2 Number of SamplesThe number of samples taken fordetermination of chemical composition shall be as follows:6.2.1 When samples are taken at the time extrusion ingotsare cast
24、 for determination of conformance to Table 1, onesample shall be taken for each group of ingots of the samealloy, poured at the same time, from the same source of moltenmetal when a batch process is employed. In cases where acontinuous casting process is employed, one sample shall betaken for each q
25、uantity of material cast equivalent in size(weight or volume) to the last holding vessel before casting or5000 lb 2270 kg, whichever is less. Ingots not conforming toTable 1 shall be rejected.6.2.2 Unless compliance is established by 6.2.1, sampling ofthe finished product shall be in accordance with
26、 Practice E55.One sample shall be taken for each 4000 lb (2000 kg) or lessof material comprising the lot, except that not more than oneanalysis shall be required per piece.TABLE 1 Chemical RequirementsANOTE 1Analysis shall regularly be made only for the elements specifically mentioned in this table.

In case of dispute, the analysisshall be made by methods given in Test Methods E35or anyother standard methods of analysis approved by ASTM unlesssome other method is agreed upon.7. Tensile Requirements Tensile Requirements7.1 LimitsThe bars, rods, profiles,
35、 tubes, and wire shallconform to the tensile properties requirements in Table 2 unlessother agreement is made between producer or supplier andpurchaser. Properties for sizes and tempers not shown in Table2 shall be as agreed by producer or supplier and purchaser.7.2 Number of SpecimensFrom material
36、having nominalweight of less than 1 lb/linear ft through 1.7 kg/linear m, onetension test sample shall be taken for each 1000 lb 500 kg orfraction thereof in the shipment. For material having a nominalweight of 1 lb/linear ft over 1.7 kg/linear m or more, onetension test shall be taken for each 1000
37、 ft 300 m or fractionthereof in the shipment. Other procedures for selecting samplesmay be employed if agreed upon by the seller and thepurchaser.7.3 Geometry of test specimens and the location in theproduct from which they are taken shall be as specified in TestMethods B 557 and B 557M.7.4 Test Met
38、hodsThe tension tests shall be made inaccordance with Test Methods B 557 and B 557M.7.5 RetestsIf any tension specimen fails to conform to therequirements prescribed in Table 2, two additional specimensshall be selected and tested from other bars, rods, profiles,tubes, or wire in the lot. If either
39、of these specimens fails toconform to the applicable requirements, the material may berejected. If, however, the failure of the specimens to conform tothe requirements is the result of an inadequate thermal treat-ment, the material may be reheat treated and resampled inaccordance with 7.2.TABLE 2 Te
