Material and Manufacture5.1 Material:5.1.1 The material of manufacture shall be annealed plate, sheet, strip, or disks of wrought Alloy UNS No. C22000 processedto produce even-topped cups.5.2 Manufacture:5.2.1 The materialproduct shall be blanked and cupped to meet the cup dimen
15、sions specified, and subsequently annealed, ifrequired. The annealed cups shall be cleaned to provide a surface suitable for subsequent redrawing into bullet jackets.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The product shall conform to the chemical composition requirements prescribed in Table 1.6.2Composition lim
16、its may be established and analysis required for unnamed elements by agreement between manufacturer andpurchaser.6.3Either copper or zinc may be taken as the difference between the sum of all elements analyzed and 100%. Copper, whendetermined by difference, must conform to the requirements of6.2 The
17、se composition limits do not preclude the presence of other elements. By agreement between the manufacturer andpurchaser, limits may be established and analysis required for unnamed elements.6.3 Because zinc is listed as “remainder”, either copper or zinc may be taken as the difference between the s
18、um of results ofall elements determined and 100 %. When all elements in Table 1 . Grain Size of Annealed Tempers7.1 Unless there is a prior agreement between the purcha
19、ser and supplier the grain size of class II cups shall be produced to haveaverage grain size corresponding to the limits of the OS025 or OS040 tempers as specified in Table 2.7.1.1 Grain size ranges other than those specified in Table 2 are to be established by agreement between manufacturer andpurc

Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations8.1 All dimensions and tolerances of cups shall be as indicated on
22、 the drawings furnished with the purchase order or contract.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 The cups shall be uniform in quality and shall be free of conditions which would interfere with the purpose for which thecups are intended.10. Sampling10.1 The lot size, portion size, and selection
23、of pieces shall be as follows:10.1.1 Lot Size40 000 lb (18 144 kg) or fraction thereof.10.1.2 Portion Size:10.1.2.1 For chemical analysis5 cups. In accordance with Practice E255, drillings, millings, etc., shall be taken inapproximately equal weight from each of the sample cups selected and combined
24、 into one composite sample. The minimum weightof the composite sample that is divided into three equal parts shall be 150 g. Number of Tests and Retests11.1 Visual InspectionEach cup in the sample shall be visually inspected.11.1.1 Major DefectsNot more than 0.25 % of the cups in the sample shall contain the following major defects: scaly metal,deep scratches, laminations, slivers, laps, cracks, or wrinkles.11.1.2
27、Minor DefectsNot more than 2 % of the cups in the sample shall contain the following minor defects: oily cup, greasycup, dirty cup, oxidized cup, dented or bent edges, or scratches.11.2 Work TestIf required by the purchase order or contract, one of the following work tests may be performed by thepur
28、chaser before approval of a lot for shipment:11.2.1 Five hundred cups or more shall be subjected to a working test by processing them through the first drawing operation.The cups shall draw satisfactorily without showing defects that will cause them to be unsuitable for the purpose intended.11.2.2 F
29、ive thousand cups shall be subjected to a working test by processing them satisfactorily into bullet jackets.11.3 Grain SizeEach cup in the sample shall be tested.11.3.1 If the material fails to pass the visual inspection examination or a work test, or if more than one specimen fails the grainsize t
30、est, a retest shall be permitted on a sample double that of the original sample. The result of the retest or retests shall meetthe specified requirements.11.4 Chemical AnalysisAn additional sample in accordance with 10.1.2.1 is permitted to be made and tested.12. Specimen Preparation12.1 For grain s
31、ize measurements, either tangential grinding and polishing, or cutting, mounting, and polishing methods maybe used to reach the zone (Fig. 1).12.1.1 The test specimen shall be prepared in accordance with Practice E3.12.2 Specimens for chemical analysis shall be prepared in accordance with Practice E

34、hase order agreement shall be asagreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser.13.2.1 Since no recognized test method is known to be published, the determination of bismuth shall be subject to the agreementbetween the manufacturer and purchaser.13.3 Grain size measurements shall be made in a
35、 zone that is the approximate mid-point of the sidewall length and thicknessof the cup as shown in Fig. 1.At least three measurements shall be made, averaged, and recorded for each grain size determination.14. Significance of Numerical Limits14.1 For the purposes of determining compliance with the s

Inspection15.1 The manufacturer or supplier shall inspect and make the tests necessary to verify that the product furnished productconforms to specification requirements.15.2 Measuremen
38、t of DimensionsEach sample cup shall be gaged for compliance with all the dimensions shown on theapplicable drawing. In addition, each cup in the sample shall be measured for sidewall thickness at two or more opposite pointsat the same distance from the mouth or base. The variation in wall thickness
39、 of any cup so measured shall be within the limits asshown on the drawing.15.3If, in addition, source 15.3 Source inspection of the materialproduct by the purchaser is may be agreed upon between themanufacturer, or supplier, and the purchaser as part of the purchase order or contract, order.
